Kalim is a documentary filmmaker who makes films to encourage empathy and acknowledgment of our shared human experience. He directs commissioned documentaries and series for global brands. His original films focus on racial justice, identity politics, and subcultures. His film 'Telling the Story of Slavery' was published by The New Yorker and screened at Big Sky Documentary Film Festival. His short documentary '9 Degrees' premiered at DOC NYC. He earned a BFA from SFAI and a MFA from Hunter College and has taught at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Hunter College, and Downtown Community Television Center in New York.
Kalim is the Co-Founder of Vacationland, a documentary studio making uncommon films on common ground with offices in New York, California, and Maine, where he calls home.
