Ncuti Gatwa’s first series of Doctor Who is almost here – and to remind us of this, the BBC have released a full trailer.
If there’s one thing to take away from the trailer for the new series, it is this – Russell T Davies is putting every penny of the higher budget up on the screen.
With the premiere of Ncuti Gatwa’s debut series just weeks away, the marketing campaign is beginning to ramp up. First, we got the welcome news that former showrunner and Doctor Who’s most prolific writer Steven Moffat has penned an episode for the new series, which is described as “Hitchcockian” in tone. His episode was directed by Julie-Anne Robinson.
Now, we have a full trailer running to two minutes and change. It’s the most footage of the new series we’ve had so far, from the Tardis crashing through a wall,...

According to a report, new Doctor Who companion Millie Gibson is leaving after her first series, and her replacement has been cast.
We’ve only had one hour of Ncuti Gatwa’s era of Doctor Who. However, in production terms, the second series is currently filming, and willl be broadcast in 2025.
While there are many advantages to filming so far ahead, one of the disadvantages is that information is harder to keep contained.
Which leads us to some news that was first reported by The Mirror – so do take it with a pinch of salt – but the story’s been picked up by a lot of websites, and it looks as though there’s something in this.
Apparently, Millie Gibson will leave Doctor Who after the 2024 Christmas Special. The new companion is said to be Varada Sethu, who is best known for starring in Neil Cross’ apocalyptic drama Hard Sun.

Sixty years is but the blink of an eye for a time-traveler like The Doctor. But for a television series, a Diamond Anniversary is an extremely rare and impressive occurrence.
BBC’s Doctor Who recently celebrated such a milestone with three one-hour specials which, for the first time, streamed globally on Disney+.
Russell T Davies, fresh from his success on ’80s AIDS miniseries It’s a Sin, returned to the show he brought back so successfully to the BBC in 2005. Bolstering his team are returning producers Julie Gardner and Phil Collinson, as well as Jane Tranter, the woman who was instrumental in bringing back Doctor Who in 2005. Bad Wolf, the company founded by Tranter and Gardner in 2015, currently produces the show with BBC Studios.
Another big returning name return was David Tennant, who played the 10th Doctor from 2005 to 2010 and who also returned for the show’s 50th anniversary in 2013. Beloved by fans and audiences alike,...

I’ll just say it – I don’t want him to go. For as much excitement as there is around a new era of Doctor Who with Ncuti Gatwa in the Tardis, and rightly so, it has been an absolute treat to have David Tennant’s Doctor back, especially with the ever-brilliant Donna at his side.
The bursts of fury, the moments of melancholia, the hugging, the brainy specs… If this really is the last time Tennant ever dons the skinny suit, these three specials might be the most triumphant final appearance of any Doctor to date.
There’s one last adventure to enjoy before the Fourteenth Doctor bows out, however, and it begins in Georgian-era London with a visit to a toy shop. It’s being run by the immediately-sinister Neil Patrick Harris who is, naturally, the Toymaker behind the many dolls and amusements for sale. This customer is...

Welcome to the Whoniverse. It's only been a few months since the news first hit that the longtime "Doctor Who" showrunner Russell T. Davies would be expanding the beloved sci-fi franchise with multiple spin-offs in the same vein as "Star Trek." Now, we're receiving more information on at least one of those new shows -- one revolving around a character that diehard Whovians are very familiar with.
Deadline reports that actor Jemma Redgrave is coming back once again as the lead of her own spin-off series, which will focus on her character Kate Stewart as the Chief Scientific Officer at Unit (United Nations Intelligence Taskforce). Tasked with investigating all things paranormal and extraterrestrial, Stewart's activities occasionally brought her into the circle of the good Doctor over the years since first arriving on the series in 2012. Now, it appears that Davies is spearheading this new series with Redgrave as its main lead.

More details are emerging about the planned Doctor Who spin-offs, one of which is set to feature Jemma Redgrave, as showrunner Russell T. Davies says an episode of the new series is “one of the greatest things I’ve ever made in my life.”
Since striking a mega international distribution deal for the show with Disney+, Davies, who is showrunning the series for the second time, has been clear that spin-offs will arrive as part of an expanded ‘Whoniverse.’
One of those spin-offs will be based on military research organization Unit and will star Redgrave as Kate Stewart, BBC sources confirmed. Redgrave has played Stewart in 10 episodes of Doctor Who since 2012 and the spin-off will focus on her running of the unit, which has appeared on and off in Doctor Who for the past 50 years.
She will potentially appear in the Doctor Who Christmas special later this year alongside new Doctor Ncuti Gatwa.

Here we are again, then. Doesn’t seem like five minutes since Easter, does it? I swear I’ve still got half a chocolate rabbit in the fridge… But time trundles on, and we’re here to bid goodbye to Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor after what feels like an oddly-fleeting tenure in the Tardis.
In terms of episode count, Whittaker’s run hasn’t been that much shorter than, say, Peter Capaldi’s. But then, both Capaldi and Matt Smith’s Doctors went through a number of evolutions in their time, with marked shifts in their personalities as companions came and went. We glimpsed Eleven’s decades on Trenzalore and Twelve’s exile in his confession dial, watching those Doctors grow old and weary. Ready for their end.
Poor old Thirteen, on the other hand, clearly wants to continue being the Doctor,...

In a Q&a session alongside a screening of “The Power of the Doctor,” departing showrunner Chris Chibnall discussed his desire to pack the episode full of easter eggs, layering in the past, present, and future of the long-running programme.
While the story itself may have been somewhat messy as a result – more on that in our spoiler-packed review – there’s no denying there’s a lot here for long-time Doctor Who fans to sink their teeth into, with some references being more obscure than others. There’ll be spoilers ahead as we dig in…

It's time to say goodbye to Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor. With the approach of her final episode the BBC, the actress is getting fans hyped for the big farewell, and the new Doctor on the horizon.
"Doctor Who" regenerations are generally overwhelming events. As Whittaker explained to Entertainment Weekly, the theme of change was a strong driver in tomorrow's special, "The Power of the Doctor," which will be her last adventure in the Tardis:
"I think it's got something for everybody. It [is] a celebration of everything that makes the show what it is: Cybermen, Master, Daleks. But also, if you've never seen it before, it's the biggest advert of what the show is about. It celebrates change, the challenges the Doctor goes through, the darkness and the lightness. I think it certainly delves deep into the psyche of the Doctor. But then for me — as Jodie — it has...

The end is near for Jodie Whitaker’s run on “Doctor Who,” as the BBC announced that the Thirteenth Doctor’s final episode, “The Power of the Doctor,” will air on Oct. 23 as a new trailer was released.
As has been customary for “Doctor Who” since it was revived in 2005, the regeneration of the Doctor into a new face as the role is passed from one actor to another is coming with a massive adventure filled with all of the series’ most famous adversaries. We, of course, have the Doctor’s famous archrival, The Master (Sacha Dhawan) telling her that this is the day that she is “erased forever,” but we also have the Daleks and Cybermen menacing the universe as well.
Her final battle. Her deadliest enemies

Welcome to the end of Thirteen’s existence. It’s time for the Doctor to do battle with the forces that mass against her, and their Master… The BBC has confirmed that Jodie Whittaker’s farewell adventure ‘The Power of the Doctor’ will air on Sunday the 23rd of October on BBC One.
That puts the Special exactly one year and one month away from Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary on the 23rd of November 2023, when former showrunner Russell T Davies will be back in the driving seat and is expected to introduce Ncuti Gatwa as the 14th Doctor (as well as reintroducing a host of welcome and familiar faces).
Thirteen is going out with a bang, by the looks of the latest trailer, which features regulars Mandip Gill, John Bishop and Jacob Anderson as Yaz, Dan and Vinder, alongside Jemma Redgrave as Unit’s Kate Stewart.

Warning: contains spoilers for Doctor Who: Flux Episode 5 ‘Survivors of the Flux’
The first Master story my son ever saw was ‘Spyfall’, last year. A bit later we finally began the pilgrimage and watched the entire New Series over the space of eight or nine months. ‘Spyfall’ clearly had an impact, because every time a new character in a suit turned up, he’d immediately point to the screen and tell me “That’s the Master!”
So, when a mysterious, arch, obviously evil figure in a dapper black suit shows up and people begin to ponder whether he could, in fact, be our favourite renegade Time Lord (now that the Doctor doesn’t count) my first response is scepticism. And yet the recurring and oddly superfluous seeming character of The Grand Serpent does seem to have an awful lot of evidence stacking up against him.

Doctor Who‘s recent New Year’s special was largely a big crowd-pleaser. As it saw the return of a Dalek for the first time since Jodie Whittaker took over as the Time Lord, “Resolution” is probably the episode of season 11 that’s got the most fan approval after a controversial run. However, there was one brief scene that got folks riled.
When the Doctor realizes that the Dalek has been resurrected and is going to start an assault on the planet, she gets on the phone to Kate Stewart, her old friend and the head of U.N.I.T., the alien-busting military organization. However, she’s reconnected to an unhelpful woman on a helpline who informs her that “U.N.I.T. operations have been suspended pending review.”
The reason why it’s been shut down is said to be because of “financial disputes and subsequent funding withdrawal by the U.

So all the teasing is nearly over, and it is nearly time to see the Thirteenth Doctor in all her glory. First though, we get to see The Twelfth Doctor strut his stuff, as we have already seen Ten and Eleven do, all loosely linked by the mysterious portal popping up. This mini has been kind of a team up without being a team up, as no Doctor’s have actually met yet the stories are all linked. Both previous issues have played to the strengths of their Doctor, so I’m hoping this installment, ‘Tulpa’ continues that trend too.
