Exclusive: Global Screen has sealed a fresh round of deals on the 3D-animated feature My Fairy Troublemaker, about a mischievous, rookie tooth fairy who gets stuck in the world of humans on her first mission.
In a key territory deal the animation has sold to France (Kmbo) and recently also secured sales to Benelux (In the Air), Israel (Lev Cinemas), Austria (Constantin Film), Switzerland (MovieBiz), Hungary (Vertigo Media), Slovakia/Czech Republic (Bohemia Motion Pictures) and Greece (Zinos Panagiotidis).

Caroline Origer directs from a screenplay by Silja Clemens and based on an idea from Maite Woköck.

TVNow, Rtl Deutschland’s streaming service, high-flying Berlin-based production house X Filme Creative Pool and production-distribution powerhouse Beta Film are partnering on what looks like one of the biggest German drama series productions of 2021: “House of Promises,” (a working title).
Beta Film is handling world sales and will present first moving images of the series at October’s Mipcom trade fair in Cannes, it said Friday.
Described by Beta Film as a “high-end” and a “visually stunning drama,” the 12-hour series is currently shooting on location in Berlin, Brandenburg and the Saxon city of Görlitz. Set in Berlin in the 1920s, it captures the hopes of a dazzling decade and the dramatic turn of an era from the perspective of a young woman and a Jewish family, owner of a state-of-the-art department store at Berlin’s Torstrasse 1.
Award winning director Sherry Hormann directs episodes 1-6, once again focusing on “complex,...

The Good Neighbour
Directed by Stephan Rick
Germany 2011
Falling somewhere between cold psychodrama and deliberate thriller, Stephan Rick’s The Good Neighbour is a slick, cyclical drama filled with moral anxieties and suburban violence.
David (Maxim Mehmet) moves next door to Robert (Charly Hübner). David is good-looking, young and ambitious. Robert is the opposite, yet the two form a friendship based on, if nothing else, proximity. On the drive home from a bar, David strikes a young woman with his car and kills her. Robert convinces him to leave the scene of the crime, but soon David falls for the victim’s sister Vanessa (Petra Schmidt-Schaller). Robert begins to feel left out…and doesn’t take it very well.
Director Rick maintains a fairly minimal style throughout, though his is far from the sparse, grief-stricken narratives of many of his German contemporaries. Preferring to stay mostly in medium shots, Rick...
