As the singing reality show, ‘Indian Idol 13’ reaches its finale, contestants Debosmita Roy and Shivam Singh celebrated 110 years of feature films in India which started with the silent movie ‘Raja Harishchandra’ in 1913. They performed the iconic song ‘Main Ban Ki Chidiya Banke’ from the 1936 classic film ‘Achhut Kannya’ featuring Ashok Kumar and Devika Rani.
‘Achhut Kannya’ was a story that highlighted an important issue of untouchability practiced in the country at that time and it was among the initial successful films of that era. It was directed by Bavarian filmmaker Franz Osten and is considered to be a reformist project. Mumbai, March 24 (Ians) Veteran actor and director Rakesh Roshan reveals how his son and Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan entered the entertainment industry and decided to work with his father for understanding the craft and knowing the struggle of an actor to establish himself.
He said: “When Hrithik was in college, he had two options: either he pursues further studies overseas or he assists me in making movies. The decision was left entirely up to him, and he ultimately chose to work as my assistant in movies.”
“My intention was for him to experience the same hardships that I faced during my own struggling days and learn from it,” added the 73-year-old actor. Bollywood singer Kumar Sanu praised the ‘Indian Idol 13’ contestant Senjuti Das and said that the entertainment industry needs more female music composers like her. He also added that he would love to sing her compositions.
He said: “Your performance was awesome. Every word was clear. I’ve also heard that you compose music, which is fantastic. There are just a handful of female music composers in the industry, so we need music directors like you. But do give us a chance as well and we will sing your compositions, any day you call us.”

Retired army officer Yogendra Singh Yadav has shared how he fought for 22 days, and how difficult it was for them to fight at the height of 17,000 feet at Tiger Hill, which is Drass-Kargil area of Ladakh, and lose his soldiers during the Kargil war.

Filmmaker Farah Khan gave a makeover to the ‘Indian Idol 13’ contestant Shivam Singh and made him look like Om Kappor, the role played by superstar Shah Rukh in her film ‘Om Shanti Om’.

Popular Rj Malishka surprised the ‘Indian Idol 13’ contestant Senjuti Das with her special vada pav (a delicacy from Maharashtra) treat. Malishka was so impressed with Senjuti’s rendition of the song ‘Paramsundari’ and ‘Chaka Chak’, that she dedicated a Shayari to her.
