At least 37 people are dead after a massive earthquake rocked central Italy and leveled at least two towns. The magnitude-6.2 quake hit about 3:35 a.m. local time about 65 miles northeast of Rome, the BBC reports. Many of the dead are from the town of Pescara del Tronto, which was reduced to rubble, according to BBC. The Associated Press reports that at least 10 are dead there and officials fear the death toll will rise. In Amatrice, 15 miles south, palazzos crumbled to the ground and massive fires broke out, which emergency crews struggled to contain amid the aftershocks, NBC News reports.
