Warrior Nun will rise again.
Executive producer Dean English shared that the canceled Netflix drama will return as a trilogy of movies.
"I am very happy to announce that Warrior Nun is coming back as a trilogy of motion pictures," he shared in a statement.
"Once again, a trilogy of feature films. Three."
English couldn't delve into the finer details of the deal due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
"Some may ask, 'Does this perhaps infer that there's going to be a universe being launched of Warrior Nun, which could expand into films and TV series following characters that we already know?'"
"The answer to that question is yes. And there will be more details in the future."
News of a revival was teased in June when series creator Simon Barry revealed the show will return.

There were many unhappy fans when Netflix canceled Warrior Nun after two seasons in December and for good reason.
The show had a thrilling plot and excellent characters.
If the conversation on social media was to be believed, the series was a big hit (check out why Warrior Nun should be your next obsession!)
When shows are canceled, they rarely return, but series creator Simon Barry took to social media with a wild announcement:
A comeback for the show is officially in the works.
How? We're not quite sure, ad it might be the case that we won't hear more until a deal is reached.
"Today I'm happy to officially report that because of your combined voices, passion, and amazing efforts - #WarriorNun will return and is going to be more Epic than you could imagine," reads the enthusiastic Twitter post.

“Warrior Nun,” a scrappy action-fantasy series that last month debuted its second season, has been canceled by Netflix, an individual with knowledge of the decision told IndieWire.
The series starring Portuguese actress Alba Baptista had in its short run developed a passionate fanbase online, and the show’s second season even spent three weeks on Netflix’s weekly Top 10 list for English-language TV, topping out at No. 5. “Warrior Nun” creator and showrunner Simon Barry tweeted Tuesday that the show would not return on Netflix, sparking the hashtag #SaveWarriorNun to trend on Twitter.
I’ve just found out that @netflix will not be renewing #WarriorNun – my sincere appreciation to all the fans who worked so hard to bring awareness to this series, and for the love you showed me, the cast and the whole production team. Netflix is parting ways with Warrior Nun.
Deadline reported Tuesday afternoon that the cult favorite has been canceled after two seasons.
The second season of the series launched on November 10, but there was a lack of promotion for the series, likely contributing to the lower-than-expected performance.
Netflix had several opportunities to promote the show, including at its Tudum Global Fan Event, but the streaming service elected to let the show slip under the radar.
As a result, Warrior Nun Season 2 spent just three weeks in the streamer's weekly Top 10 for English-language series, with #5 being the peak.
The series also showed up on the Nielsen Streaming Chart for the week of November 7, with 595 million minutes viewed, coming in ahead of The Handmaid's Tale, Andor, and The Watcher for that week.

Exclusive: Netflix has opted not to order a third season of Warrior Nun. The decision was made a month after the Nov. 10 release of the fantasy drama’s second season.
Warrior Nun‘s second season ratings performance follows the pattern of other scripted series which have been canceled by Netflix as the streamer evaluates viewing vs. cost for their renewal decisions. Season 2 spent just three weeks in Netflix’s Weekly Top 10 for English-language series, peaking at #5. Warrior Nun has built a small yet passionate fan base, which helped it secure a second season renewal but was not enough to sustain the series in the long run.

Sylvia De Fanti has been acting professionally for about a decade now. Throughout her career, she has earned over a dozen credits, and the list just keeps growing. Although Sylvia has had a lot of success, there hasn’t been one huge role that has really served as her breakout. But that is about to change. Sylvia is a cast member in the upcoming Netflix series, Warrior Nun, which is based on the comic book series Warrior Nun Areala. In the series, which will be released on 2nd, Sylvia will be playing the role of Mother Superion. With lots of anticipation,

The following contains spoilers for Warrior Nun.
The conclusion of Netflix’s Warrior Nun launches its viewers directly off a cliff, and we’re left hanging until (an as of yet unannounced) season 2. The explosive finale leaves things off with more questions than answers. But here are some attempts at answers anyway.
In the beginning of the season, Ava (Alba Baptista) is resurrected by a halo that heals her paraplegia and gives her superpowers. But with great power comes great responsibility, as she’s expected to take on the mantle of Warrior Nun —and fight demons— for the Order of the Cruciform Sword (Ocs). After spending the majority of the season running away from the duties that were thrust upon her, she ultimately decides to use her power to stop the cycle of “girls being used, abused, and tossed away by powerful men.” In the penultimate episode, Ava and her allies,...

This Warrior Nun review contains no spoilers.
Netflix’s Warrior Nun is a loose adaptation of the American manga Warrior Nun Areala. The comic follows the titular Warrior Nun, Sister Shannon Masters, and her friends in The Order of the Cruciform Sword, as they fight the forces of evil. The show is something of a spiritual successor to the comic, which was first published in 1994. It takes the broad premise, a religious sect of nuns and priests that fight evil under the leadership of a superpowered Warrior Nun, and reimagines it for the modern audience. Some characters transition directly from the text, like Shotgun Mary (Toya Turner), while others, like comic lead Sister Shannon, are left behind in favor of new characters created for the show.
On paper, Warrior Nun is ‘Extremely My Shit’. Badass women warriors, magic, demons, lore… And for the most part, the show lives up to its premise,...

Manga fans rejoice! Warrior Nun has been adapted into a new ten-episode series as part of Netflix’s increased science fiction slate. The series is being brought to the small screen by creator and showrunner, Simon Barry, who is known for his breakout hit Canadian time travel series, Continuum, and who recently produced a short-lived, supernatural series for Syfy called Ghost Wars. He is joined on the production side by Terri Hughes Burton of The 100 and Eureka, and Amy Berg of Counterpart fame will be on board as a consulting producer.
The official synopsis reads: “Inspired by the manga novels, Warrior Nun revolves around a 19 year-old woman (Alba Baptista) who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. She discovers she is now part of an ancient order that has been tasked with fighting demons on Earth, and...

Netflix has had a lot of success with in-house comic book adaptations. Shows like Jessica Jones and Daredevil were important early hits and they’ve followed them up with the award-winning Umbrella Academy (check out the recent trailer for season 2 above) and movies like The Old Guard (which looks very promising). That winning streak will hopefully continue with Warrior Nun, which is sounding like it’s going to kick some serious ass.
The show is based on Ben Dunn’s comic book series Warrior Nun Areala, which began in 1994 and tells the tale of the Order of the Cruciform Sword, a mysterious order of warrior nuns fighting for the Catholic Church. The story has vastly expanded over the years, creating a lengthy continuity that manages to make this world of super-powered battle nuns weirdly plausible. Netflix’s take on it seems to be to taking it back to basics though,...
