Kate Snow, the NBC News veteran who has anchored the network’s Sunday broadcast of “NBC Nightly News” since 2015, plans to exit the post next week, she disclosed to viewers of the program Sunday evening, citing growing responsibilities tied to streaming content.
The move may be a sign that her presence is needed elsewhere. Snow, who is also a senior national correspondent for NBC News, has since September of 2022 co-anchored parts of “NBC News Daily,” a set of daytime hours that both stream on NBC News Now and appear in the daytime schedules of all NBC affiliates. NBC News has placed increasing emphasis on reaching viewers with streaming content, and has continued to expand the original programming it offers in that venue. Those duties, plus those that have Snow reporting on stories during the week for “Today” and the weekday broadcasts of “NBC Nightly News,” have begun to add up.

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: A prominent TV reporter walks into a bar…
A handful of the news anchors at MSNBC recently held a dinner to welcome Ana Cabrera, the former CNN journalist, to the network, where she has taken the reins of its 10 a.m. hour. Chris Jansing and Katy Tur, familiar faces to MSNBC viewers, were holding court, but Andrea Mitchell, a legendary Washington correspondent who has anchored an early afternoon show on MSNBC since 2008, was missing, due to making an appearance at Henry Kissinger’s 100th birthday.
“I thought a 100th birthday party for somebody would end early,” Mitchell confesses. “But it didn’t.”
Cabrera, Jansing, Tur, Mitchell have all found time to get together more frequently in recent weeks. They, along with their colleague, José Díaz-Balart, are playing a more critical role at MSNBC — but not in hours when such significance might be expected.

MSNBC is adding another notable news anchor to its dayside lineup.
Ana Cabrera, who left CNN at the end of last year, will anchor MSNBC’s 10 a.m. hour in a program called Ana Cabrera Reports.
Jose Diaz-Balart most recently anchored the hour for MSNBC, but shifted to 11 a.m. as part of a larger shake-up earlier this year.
MSNBC has reworked its daytime lineup over the last few years under the “Reports” brand name, with news anchors like Diaz-Balart, Katy Tur, Chris Jansing, Andrea Mitchell and others hosting their own versions of the news-driven format. As with the other Reports shows, Cabrera’s program will include in-the-field reporting, interviews with newsmakers and discussions around current events.
Before joining MSNBC Cabrera was an anchor and national correspondent for CNN for nearly 10 years.

CNN isn’t the only cable-news network reworking its daytime schedule.
MSNBC is expanding Chris Jansing’s afternoon perch to two hours from one as the Washington D.C-based Hallie Jackson, who also anchors a late-afternoon program on NBC News Now, leaves the cable outlet to focus on the streaming work. Meanwhile, weekend host Jonathan Capehart, who has held forth on Sundays, will now do an hour on both Saturday and Sunday. All the moves come as NBCUniversal’s new operations refine their efforts under a reorganization unveiled Wednesday.
The moves were revealed to staffers Thursday in memos from Rashida Jones, president of MSNBC, and Janelle Rodriguez, the NBC News executive vice president who oversees NBC News Now. Programming changes at MSNBC will take place February 13 for weekday programs and February 18 for weekend programs, Jones said in her note.

CNN will rely on two Washington-based hosts and one of its primetime anchors for the next round of debates among Democratic candidates for president.
Dana Bash, Jake Tapper and Don Lemon will moderate a two-night series on CNN during which 20 candidates will debate each other. The media venues for these events are determined by the Democratic National Committee, but are shaping up to be massive generators of ratings for the networks that show them. More than 15 million people tuned in for a broadcast of the first of two debates across NBC, MSNBC and Telemundo, and nearly 18.1 million viewers tuned in for a second night.
CNN will broadcast the event across its flagship cable network, CNN International and CNN en Espanol. The AT&T-owned network will also stream live for free on CNN.com and CNN’s mobile apps.

Brian Williams was back on the upfronts stage Monday after a couple of years out of the annual confab’s spotlight, talking about the upcoming “most consequential Presidential election in our country for generations to come.”
Williams, host of MSNBC’s The 11th Hour With Brian Williams, was part of the NBC News portion of NBCUniversal’s annual upfront presentation to advertisers today at Radio City Music Hall in New York. He was joined by NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt, Today’s Savannah Guthrie, NBC/MSNBC’s Chuck Todd, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, NBC/Telemundo’s Jose Diaz-Balart and CNBC’s Becky Quick onstage for the roughly five-minute presenation.
“This coming year, the world will be watching,” Williams told the crowd of the 2020 election season (it’s certainly good news for political advertising).

Brian Williams didn’t have much to say when he made an appearance Monday at NBCUniveral’s massive “upfront” programming presentation. But his presence on stage spoke volumes.
Four years ago at this time, Williams tenure at the company seemed precarious. He was in the midst of a suspension, and taken off “NBC Nightly News.” Today, he stood alongside NBC News and MSNBC and CNBC colleagues like Becky Quick, Rachel Maddow, Lester Holt, Savannah Guthrie, Jose Diaz-Balart and Chuck Todd – an emissary of the big media corporation once again.
“Remember when we said the last election would be the most consequential in a decade?” asked Williams during a section of the presentation devoted to news programming. “We were right.” He followed with: “This coming year, the world will be watching as we cover perhaps the most consequential election of our lifetime. It’s an election that will define our nation for years to come,...

President Obama has come under heavy criticism, from conservatives and mainstream reporters alike, for going ahead with a speech on the economy even as the mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard was still unfolding. In an interview with Telemundo’s Jose Diaz-Balart, President Obama defended the decision, while side-stepping the main thrust of the criticism, which is that the speech included what's been described as "partisan attacks" on Republicans.
