The year turns. Spring is now in bloom and that means a new season of anime, but for many the sheer number of possible choices can be daunting and it can be easy to miss a smaller hidden gem. I have gathered 12 of the season's new shows to help you decide if they are worth checking out and where you can find them. Only new shows, so no Black Butler: Public School Arc, My Hero Academia season 7, Laid Back Camp season 3, etc. as if you're already a fan you'll be watching them anyway and if you're curious about any of them I would recommend you start at the very beginning, I hear it's a very good place to start.

Well, about as much Jensen as we're going to get, anyway. Remember folks, while Jared Padalecki (Sam) lends his voice to all 22 episodes of the DVD/Blu-Ray arriving in stores July 26th, Jensen Ackles (Dean) only voices two. Voice actor Andrew Farrar will take over the elder Winchester for the rest.

Boy, is it a good time for anime in July! Not only will we see anime from Marvel with Iron Man and Wolverine but the anime of the CW’s Supernatural will hit shelves stateside, too! Supernatural: The Anime is also from the animation studio of Madhouse and consists of twenty-two episodes, adapting the first two seasons of the show as Sam and Dean Winchester search for their father while hunting supernatural baddies. There are some supplemental storylines as well, so it’s not a strict translation.
Jared Padalecki provides his own voice for Sam Winchester in all 22 episodes while co-star Jensen Ackles lent his voice to Dean Winchester in select episodes. Special features on the set include: featurettes on turning the live-action series into anime, live-action introductions to each episode, and interviews with Padalecki, Ackles, and series creator Eric Kripke.
Check out the press release below for all the details!

Created by: Eric Kripke.
Directors: Shigeyuki Miya, and Atsuko Ishizuka.
Executive Producer: Masao Maruyama.
Character Designer: Takahiro Yoshimatsu.
Debuting to select audiences and currently available in Japan is Supernatural: The Animation. The first few episodes are now out on Blu-ray and DVD. Expectations are high that this series will soon see a North American release. In what is currently available, the show has both an English and Japanese voice track. All 22 episodes are tentatively expected to be available, direct to video, by April 2011.
The series is produced by Madhouse, an animation studio better known for titles like Vampire Hunter D (1985), Trigun (1998) and Monster (2004). This company is certainly no stranger to the science fiction/horror genre either. Their production values and their artistry is always visually striking. The tales they adapt are sometimes surreal.
In importing Eric Kripke's property, the company has instilled a unique take into the world of Supernatural.

Last June we told you about a new animated series based upon the hit television series here in the States, "Supernatural". Though details were thin, we've finally gotten our hands on a preview for you! Dig it!
The Japanese division of Warner Brothers is prepping "Supernatural: The Animation", a strangely titled (oh, those wacky Japanese) 22-episode series from Madhouse, who also brought us Batman: Gotham Knight and of course Death Note.
The anime project will not only remake the best episodes from the live-action version but also depict original episodes not seen in the live-action version. Those original episodes will include prologues of the Winchester brothers’ childhood, anime-only enemies, and episodes featuring secondary characters from the live-action version.
According to Zap 2 It Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles will be doing the voice work for the series' Stateside debut. Although Padalecki has signed on to dub all 22 episodes, Warner Bros. Japan...

See Sam and Dean like you’ve never seen them before. Well, actually exactly like you’ve seen them in their hunting adventures, but this time it’s animated! This project is expected to yield twenty-two episodes for Warner Bros Home Video and will ship on DVD and Blu-Ray in Japan on January 12, 2011. No word yet on when it will be available to the American market.
The anime adapts the first two seasons of live-action CW series Supernatural starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles as the demon-hunting Winchester brothers. According to Anime News Network:
