Ready your breakfast and eat hardy, for tonight we dine on 300 news! For anyone who's long hoped for more stories in the world of the Spartans (with lashings of comic book style), there's a promising update. According to Variety, a TV adaptation of the Zack Snyder historical epic – itself an adaptation of the legendary Frank Miller's graphic novel – is in early development at Warner Bros. Television. And what's more, Snyder – who directed and co-wrote the 2006 film – is in talks to helm the project.
In terms of plot details for the series, news is there is no news – Wbtv is keeping its cards close to their chest at present. But early word is that the series will serve as a prequel of some sort to the hyper-stylised film, which recounted the tale of how fearless leader Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and his army of 300 Spartans held back thousands (possibly millions) of...

Earlier this week, social media scooper @MyTimeToShineH claimed that a 300 TV series is in development. Now, the news has been confirmed by Variety, with the trade explaining that it's still in the "early" stages right now.
It sounds like Warner Bros. Television is still figuring out the creative direction of the show as no writer or platform is currently attached (Max is surely the most likely destination). However, the plan is for this to be a prequel to the 2006 movie directed by Zack Snyder.
Talking of the Man of Steel and Rebel Moon filmmaker, Snyder is said to be in talks to direct and executive produce the 300 prequel, marking his first return to the world of comic books since 2021's Justice League Snyder Cut.
Deborah Snyder, who also executive produced 300, would return in the same role alongside Stone Quarry's Wesley Coller. Fellow 300 producers Gianni Nunnari, Mark Canton, and Bernie Goldmann...

Once again… this is Sparta! A television series based on 300 is reportedly in the works, set to expand the story of the 2006 action film. There’s no word on writers or platform, but Variety reports the prospective TV series will be a prequel to 300, which followed Spartan king Leonidas (Gerard Butler) as he led his band of elite soldiers in battle against the forces of Persian king Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro). Zack Snyder — who directed and co-wrote 300, an adaptation of Frank Miller and Lynn Varley’s comic book series of the same name — is in talks to direct and executive-produce series, per Variety. Deborah Snyder, Gianni Nunnari, Mark Canton, Bernie Goldmann — all of whom produced or executive-produced 300 — are also in talks to return for the TV series, as is Wesley Coller of the Snyders’ Stone Quarry production company, the magazine reports. 300, which also starred Lena Headey,...

We’ve known from the start that director Zack Snyder intended to released extended director’s cuts of his movies Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire (read our review Here) and Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver (read our review of that one Here), which were rated PG-13 in their shorter form. At the start of this month, we learned that the director’s cut of Rebel Moon: Part One has been given a R rating for brutal bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity and language. Now the Motion Picture Association ratings board has revealed that the director’s cut of Rebel Moon: Part Two has been rated R for strong bloody violence and gore throughout, strong sexuality, nudity and some language.

Following a limited theatrical release, director Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire (read our review Here) was released through the Netflix streaming service back in December, then Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver (read our review of that one Here) reached the service last month… but we’ve known from early on that these PG-13 versions of the movies wouldn’t be the only versions we’d see. Snyder has also put together extended director’s cut of both films, which will each have around an hour of additional footage. They’re expected to be released through Netflix sometime this summer, possibly in August, and the director’s cut of Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire just got its rating from the Motion Picture Association ratings board. It earned an R for brutal bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity and language.

Throughout the seven movies that he has directed, Tom Waller has proven his knack for diversity. From the spiritual crime film of “Mindfulness and Murder” to the delirious biopic about Thailand's “Last Executioner”, to the story of the students trapped in “The Cave” the result is always intriguing, with his works, particularly of the latest years, combining Hollywood aesthetics with an intense local flavor. The turn towards actual stories, however, is a fact, and his latest work, “Kiss of the Con Queen” cements it in the most evident fashion. Just like “The Last Executioner” though, there is a significant twist in the real history of a con man who cheated numerous members of the movie industry before his arrest: Both the protagonist of the movie, Eoin O'Brien, and a number of other members of the cast and crew were actual victims of the scam.

Claymation legends Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham will offer stop-motion fans a sneak peek at their upcoming Wallace & Gromit film at this year’s Annecy animation festival.

[The following story contains spoilers for Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver.]
Zack Snyder knows the intricate future of his Rebel Moon universe, and now it’s up to the audience to make sure that Netflix leadership feels the demand to bring as many as four more movies to fruition.
Between today’s release of Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver and this summer’s R-rated director’s cuts of Part One and Two, Netflix subscribers will have plenty of opportunities to impose their will on the streamer, but currently, the situation is up in the air now that Snyder is caught up in an all-too-familiar regime change. Gone is the director’s longtime collaborator Scott Stuber, and with Dan Lin now taking the reins from Stuber as Netflix’s new film chief, it’s anyone’s guess as to how things will unfold.

As its second installment is waiting for its release this month, Snyder has stated that the R-rated cuts of both films look like different films in themselves. However, the fans don’t look so happy about the idea of an intentional Director’s Cut.

Zack Snyder is a prolific filmmaker, and he pushes his creative muscles with every new film he makes. Not all his choices pay dividends, and some of his films have been severely panned by critics. However, he does not let the naysayers deter him from making the stories he is passionate about telling, and he has built up a loyal fanbase over the years.
Rebel Moon—Part One: A Child of Fire was one such project, which was not well received by the audience or the critics and got a rotten score of 21% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, Snyder is back with the second installment, Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver, and it looks very promising.

Sofia Boutella, the lead actor in Zack Snyder’s 2023 space action adventure Rebel Moon, who played Kora, was frustrated with the dismal critical reviews the movie has faced. Netflix has marketed the movie well, and it was one of the most anticipated movies of the year but lacked the charm to be a critical darling.

Boutella, after appearing in part one of the two-part movie series (as confirmed so far), reacted against the critical rampage. While the movie was hyped with the director’s post-Snyzer Verse glimmer of hope, it has remained just an ambitious project from the celebrated director, while several critics dubbed the first part as a menacing space adventure.

Wonder Woman took cinemas by storm when it was released in 2017. Despite being a period piece set during World War 2, it managed to bring in droves of fans to witness Diana Prince’s origin tale. So, with the same creative team returning for a sequel and the ever-popular decade of the 80s being its setting, this could outdo the first in every way. But with expectations comes disappointment as the film released during Covid caused quite a stir for its creative partners and had some rather questionable CGI. So today on DC Revisited, we’re getting into it all as we dive into Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984.
After the first film made $822 Million worldwide, a sequel was announced just one month after release. A few months later, it was announced that writer/director Patty Jenkins and her co-writer Geoff Johns would return and serve the same roles for this new venture.

"That was the worst experience I've ever seen in a business which is full of some s**** experiences. It broke my heart," Ben Affleck said last year of his experience making 2017's "Justice League." Affleck went through the wringer when he was announced as our next Batman before donning the cape and cowl in 2016's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." And yet, for all of the vitriol and for all of the critical bashing of that film, it was Zack Snyder's follow-up that would break Affleck's spirit. What went wrong? Just about everything, it seems.

‘Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver’ has just dropped its trailer, and it’s stirring up excitement among fans. This sequel to ‘Rebel Moon’ is directed by Zack Snyder, who also directed hits like ‘300’, ‘Man of Steel,’ and ‘Army of the Dead.’ Zack Snyder, along with Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller, are producing it through The Stone Quarry. Zack Snyder’s space opera, Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire, is ready to take audiences on an epic journey. The premiere of the Netflix film was held this week in Los Angeles. Our own Chris Bumbray was able to attend and he came away tweeting that the movie “owes a lot to Star Wars and a ton to The Magnificent Seven, but it’s also way more entertaining than anything Lucasfilm has put out in a while.” And in another tweet, “Very old-school Star Wars. Felt like a movie that could have been made in 1980, but in a good way.” He also noted that Netflix may have made an error in their release approach. “Netflix could have made a mint with this in theaters given how weak a line up of tentpoles we have in theaters this Christmas.”

As we know by now, Zack Snyder has massive plans for his “Rebel Moon” universe.
The franchise launches with the Netflix movie “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire,” followed by a sequel that will be released next year.
Snyder is developing a “Rebel Moon” comic book series, mobile game, an animated component, and is even releasing his first book of photography featuring a collection of black and white portraits he shot on set. “We have sort of an arc for this storyline that is a little bit longer … This movie will end and, in April, you’ll get another one, which is really even crazier than this one,” Snyder told me at the “Rebel Moon” premiere Wednesday night in Los Angeles. “I think it’s going to be really fun for audiences to be able to so quickly get this second installment. And then beyond that, we...

Rebel Moon, a film that director Zack Snyder first had the idea for in the ’80s, finally made its big-screen debut on Wednesday night, premiering at Hollywood’s historic Tcl Chinese Theatre.
The sci-fi project — split into two parts, with Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire streaming on Netflix this month and Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver coming in April — follows a peaceful settlement on the edge of a distant moon that is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, and a mysterious stranger Kora (played by Sofia Boutella) who becomes their best hope for survival. Snyder told The Hollywood Reporter that a premiere would usually mean he would get to rest and celebrate being done with a film, but this time, he’s back to work the next day finishing Part Two.

You might not have expected the biggest movie of the year to include a reference to Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but Barbie did exactly that. After the Barbie’s wake up from the patriarchy brought to Barbie-land, one says, “It’s like I’ve been in a dream where I was really invested in the Zack Snyder Cut of Justice League.“
While speaking with Men’s Health, Zack Snyder said that Warner Bros. co-ceo Michael DeLuca gave Snyder’s wife and producing partner, Deborah Snyder, a heads-up that Barbie would include a joke about the Snyder-Cut. “They gave us a heads-up,” Snyder said. “And he said, ‘Hey, there’s a reference to ‘Justice League’ in the movie. It’s cool and whatever, I hope you guys understand, we think it’s awesome.’” Snyder added that he thought “Barbie was great” and that the joke was “pretty good.“

Zack Snyder knew he was going to be the butt of a “Barbie” joke well before the blockbuster comedy opened in theaters from Warner Bros. In a new interview with Men’s Health, the “Rebel Moon” director revealed Warner Bros.’ film co-chief Michael DeLuca informed his wife and producer partner Deborah Snyder earlier this year about the joke and the studio’s intention to keep it in the film’s final cut.
The Snyder Cut joke in “Barbie” arrives during a critical moment in the film. Ryan Gosling’s Ken has introduced Barbie Land to the patriarchy, brainwashing the once-independent Barbies into existing solely to serve the Kens. America Ferrara gives an impassioned, feminist speech that lifts the spell, prompting a Barbie played by Alexandra Shipp to describe her time being under the patriarchy as the following: “It’s like I’ve been in a dream where I was really...

Zack Snyder may have his hands full launching Rebel Moon, his sci-fi fantasy film that Netflix unveils Dec. 22, but that doesn’t mean the energetic filmmaker isn’t busy developing other projects.
Enter Blood and Ashes. The film began life as a sequel to 300 and 300: Rise of an Empire, and was one of the last projects Snyder worked on before officially leaving Warner Bros. after the debacle that was Justice League. But what he turned in was quite different from a 300 sequel.
Blood and Ashes, which he partially wrote while shooting Army of the Dead for Netflix in 2019, ended up focusing on the relationship between Alexander the Great and his second in command, Haphaestion. It was a gay love story that was also an ancient Greek war epic, one he said then-Warners executive Courtenay Valenti liked and championed.

Zack Snyder was going through a Fortnite phase. What started as a bonding activity with one of his sons had spiraled into a solitary obsession, with the 57-year-old filmmaker sneaking off any chance he had to play the world-building video game.
One night, about a year ago, his wife and producing partner, Deborah Snyder, woke to find him not in their bed, but logged on to his console. It was 3 o’clock in the morning, the last straw. Soon after, Deborah bought her husband some clay and tools, and suggested, “Why don’t you just make something?”
And that, long story short, is how Hollywood’s most divisive film director got into pottery.
“It’s a compulsion,” Snyder admits on a balmy November day at his compound in the hills above Pasadena. He’s sitting in his home office, a modernist cube that also contains a screening room, an editing bay and a gym.

For a while, Zack Snyder was building a cinematic universe for the Netflix streaming service that centered on his zombie movie Army of the Dead. The film was quickly followed by a prequel called Army of Thieves, a sequel was being written, and an anime series called Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas was in the works. But Snyder has since shifted his focus over to building a multi-media universe around his upcoming Netflix sci-fi film Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire (and its follow-up Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver). Director Zack Snyder revealed months ago that there will be two cuts of the movies in his upcoming two-part sci-fi epic, Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire, which will be released through the Netflix streaming service on December 22nd and Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver, which will reach Netflix on April 19, 2024. One cut will be something “anyone can enjoy and watch”, while the director’s cut will be a more explicit version that will allow fans to take “a deeper, harder dive” into the material. He has even said that the director’s cut of Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire has “close to an hour of extra content”… and now Netflix’s Tudum site has posted the runtime for the regular cut of the film. It’s 2 hours and 13 minutes. So it looks like the director’s cut will boost it up to around the 3 hour mark.

Los Angeles, Aug 29 (Ians) Director Zack Snyder, who is currently focused on releasing his upcoming sci-fi- epic film ‘Rebel Moon’, had in fact earlier intended the movie to be a part of the ‘Star Wars’ universe. However, the movie became its own thing eventually, and the team behind ‘Rebel Moon’ have said they are glad the film did not end up becoming a ‘Star Wars’ IP.
Zack Snyder had originally conceived ‘Rebel Moon’ as a ‘Seven Samurai’ inspired ‘Star Wars’ movie that he pitched to Lucasfilm shortly after Disney acquired the studio in 2012 for $4.05 billion.
The director wanted to create original characters and he pushed for an R-rated script, which ultimately led ‘Rebel Moon’ to become its own property outside of the ‘Star Wars’ franchise after being deemed to be too dark and melancholic.
According to ‘Variety’, Deborah Snyder recalled “Once, it was a ‘Star Wars’ film, and I never wanted it to be.

During a recent “Rebel Moon” press junket (via /Film), producers Deborah Snyder and Eric Newman expressed relief over the film failing to materialize as an entry in the “Star Wars” universe. “Once, it was a ‘Star Wars’ film, and I never wanted it to be,” Deborah Snyder said. “I remember, I said to Zack, ‘I just feel like your hands are going to be tied so much in what that IP is,’ even though it kind of lived outside of it. So I was kind of happy when that fell apart,...

When George Lucas wanted to make a nostalgic movie, he made Star Wars. When studios today want to make nostalgic movies, they make more Star Wars. Love him or hate him, it’s admirable that Zack Snyder had an idea for a Star Wars project that he would then turn into a new property. Lucas would cite Akira Kurosawa as one of his many inspirations for his famous space opera. Snyder is now following suit, as even though he didn’t get to make his Star Wars concept, he still takes heavy inspiration from it, as well as Seven Samurai and made the upcoming Rebel Moon films that will be premiering on Netflix later this year.

Zack Snyder looked to Terry Gilliam’s director’s cut of “Brazil” when crafting the world of “Rebel Moon.”
Snyder confirmed during a recent “Rebel Moon” press preview Q&a (via Slash Film) that a director’s cut was already “part of the plan” with Netflix for the “Rebel Moon” release. The “Star Wars”-esque feature will debut in two parts, titled “A Child of Fire” and “The Scargiver,” respectively, this December and next April. Director’s cuts and featurettes will also reportedly be released on the streaming platform.
Snyder cited Gilliam’s 1985 sci-fi dark comedy starring Jonathan Pryce, Bob Hoskins, and Robert De Niro as part of the reason why he is intrigued by director’s cuts in general.
“I was like, ‘That’s cool. That makes it a lot easier than this,'” Snyder said of the approved director’s cut option. “Because it’s one of those...
