Another one bites the dust: NBC has canceled "Do No Harm" after just two episodes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The "Jekyll and Hyde"-inspired series was a ratings disaster when it premiered on Thursday, January 31 to 3.1 million viewers and a 0.9 rating in the key 18-49 demographic. Those were the lowest numbers in history for a series debut across the Big Four networks, NBC, Fox, CBS and ABC. "Do No Harm's" second episode, which aired on Thursday, February 7, dipped to 2.2 million viewers and a 0.7 rating in key demo.
"Do No Harm's" cancellation is the fastest of the current 2012-2013 season. Fox's "Ben & Kate" and ABC's "666 Park Avenue" were also canceled, while Fox's "The Mob Doctor," ABC's "Last Resort," and The CW's "Emily Owens" were able to finish their runs, but will not return for second seasons.

Well, we can't say we didn't see this coming, although we do feel bad for series star Steven Pasquale: After posting the lowest-rated scripted premiere in the history of the Big Four networks, "Do No Harm" has been taken off NBC's schedule after just two episodes.
Per THR, "Do No Harm" opened on January 31st to just a 0.9 rating with adults 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers before dipping even lower last night (February 7th) to a 0.7 demo rating. It now stands as the swiftest cancelation to come during the 2012-13 TV season.
NBC will replace previously scheduled episodes of "Do No Harm" on February 14th and February 21st with encore broadcasts of long-running procedural "Law & Order: Svu."

Phylicia Rashad hasn't been a series regular on television since "The Cosby Show" (and a few of its incarnations thereafter). But Clair Huxtable is a far cry from Dr. Vanessa Young, the character on "Do No Harm" that lured Rashad -- who's done guest spots and spent the majority of her time in theater -- back to primetime.
NBC's "Do No Harm" centers on Dr. Jason Cole (Steven Pasquale), a big-shot neurosurgeon with a multiple-personality disorder that can no longer be suppressed by an experimental medication. Now, it's wearing off, and Jason's destructive alter-ego Ian Price is coming out in the evening hours and wreaking all sorts of havoc. Rashad's character Dr. Young plays Jason's boss and a big champion of Dr. Cole, as well. But presumably, that's all about to change.
Below, Rashad talks to The Huffington Post about what drew her back into television, watching her TV kids grow up,...

NBC premiered the latest television take on the classic tale of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. In this case it's the strange case of Dr. Jason Cole and his alter ego, Ian. Steven Pasquale takes on the dual role of a renowned neurosurgeon by day and a crazed psychopath by night.
When the series picks up, Jason had managed to keep Ian subdued by knocking himself out for twelve hours every night. His alter ego normally takes over between 8:25 p.m. and 8:25 a.m. The problem is that Ian has built up an immunity to the serum, and so he starts breaking free.
Ian and Jason have no idea what the other gets up to during their time at the helm. Ian, though, has five years of resentment and anger toward Jason. His first move is to terrify the doctor that Jason is interested in. He's been afraid...

Did Do No Harm leave you with split feelings?
NBC’s new Jekyll-and-Hyde drama about a doctor suffering from disassociative identity disorder debuted Thursday at 10/9c. It centers on Dr. Jason Cole (Rescue Me‘s Steven Pasquale), who’s a brilliant neurosurgeon and all-around good guy from 8:25 a.m. to 8:25 p.m. During the other 12 hours, however, his bad boy alter ego Ian Price comes out to play.

Do No Harm is NBC’s latest drama to occupy the Thursday at 10 slot, and while the pilot does as best it can to set up this retelling of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, there are some aspects that need a good amount of polish to bring the show up to par.
Or any semblance of par, for that matter.
The biggest problem with Do No Harm lies with Ian Price, who is Jason Cole’s meaner and nastier side that comes out to play every night at 8:25. In order for Ian to work, he needs to provide plenty of opposition to Jason - and while he snorts up some coke, punches some guys in the face and has plenty of lady company he’s not exactly mean.
The biggest take away from Ian is that he’s a misunderstood child in a man’s body. The pilot attempts...

It's 8:25 p.m., do you know where your split personality is? That's basically the gist of NBC's ambitious new drama Do No Harm, which centers on Dr. Jason Cole (Steven Pasquale), a gifted neurosurgeon who is constantly in battle with his dangerous alter ego Ian who seems hell-bent on destroying Jason's life. At 8:25 p.m., Ian takes over for 12 dark hours. Now that you've seen the premiere, we (and our alter egos!) are curious to know what you thought of Do No Harm. Plus, we talked to Pasquale and the show's other stars about what viewers can expect from the series going forward. "When they asked me I was really flattered because it's really range-y. Samm Levine makes his return to TV tonight on NBC’s Do No Harm, playing the plucky assistant to Dr. Jason Cole (Steven Pasquale), a doctor who suffers from a severe case of split personality.
And to celebrate the show’s premiere, which takes place tonight on NBC (10 p.m. Et), former Freaks and Geeks actor took some time to take EW’s Pop Culture Personality Test. What we learned? Even after all these years, the actor still makes us proud to be geeks.
What’s the last TV episode that made you cry?
Oh, gosh. Maybe the last episode of Lost?...

NBC’s Do No Harm (NBC, Thursdays, 10 p.m.) is a show that practically cries out to be on cable. It manages to be as nutty and sleazy as can be within network content limits, but it's still not special enough to stand out. Steven Pasquale stars as Dr. Jason Cole, a hotshot Philadelphia surgeon who, unbeknownst to almost everyone, has a secret alter ego named Ian who’s very, very bad. I don’t want to get into too many details high up, in case you’re planning on watching tonight’s pilot; suffice it to say that Do No Harm is neither as trashy nor as clever as it needs to be to make a strong impression, and that Pasquale is the main (maybe only) reason to watch it, aside from a few blackly hilarious lines. Most of the latter are amusing because the star’s “Ian” incarnation is delivering them.

Dr. Jason Cole (Steven Pasquale) has a terrible secret: he’s living two lives. By day, he is a world-renown neurosurgeon; by night, he is a wandering sociopath looking for ways to destroy all that he loves. But it is not his fault. Diagnosed with split personality disorder, Jason’s life is consumed with keeping his alter-ego Ian Price at bay.
In a modern Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde tale, Do No Harm takes viewers into a world where one may is desperately trying to find a way to escape his deep, dark curse. Successfully having kept his alt-persona buried for the past 5 years, time has run out as the serum used to keep Ian slumbering has begun to fade. Ian has built up a tolerance to the medication and it will no longer keep him chained inside. So at the stroke of 8:25 each night, Dr. Jason Cole becomes someone else entirely – his worst nightmare.

One of the more telling behind-the-scenes aspects about the NBC drama "Do No Harm," which premieres Thursday, Jan. 31, is that star Steven Pasquale has two start times for work.
One is for Jason Cole, a respected neurosurgeon; the other is for Ian Price, a violent psycho. Dr. Cole rules from 8:25 a.m. until 8:25 p.m.; Price controls the body they both occupy at night. And to help make sure he's in the right frame of mind, Pasquale has a separate chair for each character.
Yes, another split-personality show, and the logical comparison for this one is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
"At 8:25 he becomes a different guy," Pasquale tells Zap2it. "They sound the same and walk the same. From a performance standpoint, I didn't want to make them so violently different. Ian is a drug addict, a sex-addict sociopath, a sexual predator."

"Do No Harm" is the latest drama NBC is trying out in the post-comedy bloc of 10 p.m. on Thursday nights, a spot NBC has not had a hit in since "ER" went off the air. So, maybe a new medical drama is the way to go?
Not so much.
Steven Pasquale stars as Dr. Jason Cole (J. Cole, get it? Say it fast, we'll wait), a neurosurgeon who is leading a double life because every night (at exactly 8:25 p.m., what is that about?) he turns into Ian Price, the evil Mr. Hyde side of his personality.
Even if that has you hooked, it's all downhill from there. But don't worry, this show won't be around long enough for anyone to ask too many questions.
Questions like why does Ian Price spend his nights ruining Dr. Cole's life, especially when his actions will affect the Price side of the personality as well?...

Chicago – What do “Prime Suspect,” “Awake,” and “Rock Center” have in common? They’ve all aired in what was once the most beloved timeslots on network TV — Thursday nights on NBC. Since “ER” packed up its medical bag, the Peacock Network has seriously struggled to fill its scrubs and so they try again with a twisted take on the medical genre in “Do No Harm,” a variation on “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” about split personalities but doesn’t have enough character of its own. Surprisingly dull given the edge of its concept, “Do No Harm” is yet another concept that could have been a home run on cable, where true risks are being taken, but feels neutered on network TV.

"Do No Harm" represents a big opportunity for Steven Pasquale. You might recognize the journeyman actor's face from a slew of recurring TV roles over the years; he's been in everything from "Six Feet Under" to "Rescue Me" to "The Playboy Club" and "Up All Night," but "Do No Harm" marks his first stint as a leading man.

The dark Jekyll and Hyde-esque medical drama has Stephen Pasquale (Rescue Me) playing both Dr. Jason Cole, a highly respected neurosurgeon, and his alter ego Ian Price, a reckless playboy determined to ruin Jason’s life. While we’ve seen alter egos play out in film and serialized TV before (of recent, Toni Collette in Showtime’s United States of Tara comes to mind), Do No Harm offers a refreshingly dark twist [...]...

You have to admire Spiders for its gumption. On what must have been a very limited budget, director Tibor Takacs (The Gate) goes for the gold, setting the creature feature in New York City and having it culminate with a giant queen spider rampaging through city streets. Pluck, in and of itself, however, does not automatically lead to the desired result, and Takacs is unable to align ambition and execution.
On an ordinary, hectic day in Lower Manhattan, Jason Cole (Patrick Muldoon) is overseeing operation of the city’s subway system. The expected chaos of being a supervisor for the transit authority is abruptly interrupted by falling debris from an abandoned Russian space station. One of Jason’s subordinates soon discovers that the debris has occupants, and they are not peaceful.

NBC's new drama "Do No Harm," which premieres on the network January 31st but is current being offered up for preview on Hulu, is a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde variation starring Steven Pasquale ("Rescue Me") as neurosurgeon Dr. Jason Cole, who from 8:25pm to 8:25am every night is taken over by his deviant alternate personality Ian Price. The show's careful to say that its protagonist doesn't have Dissociative Identity Disorder -- instead, he suffers from something like it that's also its own conveniently regular thing. But the distinction feel unnecessary, given the long history Did, or multiple personality disorder, has at being stretched, warped and abused into fiction's most convenient excuse for crazy plot twists or high-concept scenarios. Here's a look at some of TV's most memorable uses of multiple personalities. "One Life to Live" (1968-2012) Multiple personalities are as much a soap...

NBC's new series "Do No Harm," inspired by "Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde," doesn't premiere on TV until Thursday, January 31 at 10 p.m. Est, but you can watch the whole first episode here on Zap2it right now.
In the show, Steven Pasquale plays neurosurgeon Dr. Jason Cole -- by day. Every night, at 8:25 p.m., Jason transforms into his devious alternate personality, Ian Price. For most of his adult life, Jason has been able to keep Ian at bay by taking a daily drug cocktail, but he's grown tolerant of it, and now he finds himself forced to let Ian roam every night for twelve hours. At 8:25 a.m., Ian promptly turns back into Jason.
Those 12 hours, though, are plenty of time for Ian to do his best to ruin Jason's life -- professionally and personally. Of course, Ian has to exercise a bit of restraint, because he...

When and Where: Mondays at 10 on NBC, beginning January 7th
What’s the deal: The mysterious death of a childhood friend, who also happens to be a modern-day wealthy socialite, causes Detective Joanna Locasto, played by Californication’s Meagan Good (Think Like a Man, Saw V) to go back undercover as a guest of the family she grew up with, as a servant’s daughter, to find out the truth. The cast for this includes Alias’ Victor Garber, The O.C. and Damages’ Tate Donovan, and Breakout Kings’ Laz Alonso. NBC's new drama "Do No Harm" focuses on a neurosurgeon (Steven Pasquale) who has a Jeykll-and-Hyde personality brought on by a (fictitious) condition similar to dissociative identity disorder.
But the show's creator, David Schulner, would prefer you focus more on the Jekyll-and-Hyde part and less on the medical condition.
"I think you go along for the ride," Schulner ("The Event," "Kings") said Sunday (Jan. 6) at the TCA winter press tour. "Don't tax yourselves too much -- tune in, have fun. It's a high-concept premise, but it's a very grounded world. That's what we're going for."
Pasquale's good-guy character, Dr. Jason Cole, is an excellent surgeon who has controlled his alter ego with drugs in the past. The drugs have stopped working, however, and the dark side, who goes by the name Ian Price, shows up every night at 8:25.
When Ian does take over, though, you won't see much physical change.

Steven Pasquale will be pulling double duty this winter on NBC's Do No Harm.
Pasquale plays Dr. Jason Cole, a highly respected neurosurgeon tormented by his dark side. In this case, his dark side is his alternate personality Ian Price, a devious and wild sociopath hell-bent on destroying the lives of others. Yes, it's the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but with its modern-day setting, it's more like "House meets Dexter," executive producer David Schulner told reporters Sunday at NBC's winter TV previews.

James Cromwell has been utterly despicable in "American Horror Story: Asylum," and we love him for it. Now that he's signed on as a guest star in NBC's upcoming "Do No Harm," we have to wonder if he'll be turning back into the nice guy we usually see him portray.
TV Guide reports that Cromwell's character - a "renowned," but as yet unnamed, surgeon - will join Steven Pasquale's mysteriously afflicted brain doc Jason Cole (who turns into the Mr. Hyde-like Ian Price at the stroke of 9 each night) for an unspecified number of episodes.

Some of the most popular shows on TV are obsessed with violence — but the catch is that almost all of these shows are on cable rather than broadcast television.
This fall, AMC’s The Walking Dead dominated the ratings, besting even ABC’s Modern Family and NBC’s The Voice by becoming TV’s highest-rated scripted program in the key adult demo.
The Walking Dead doesn’t hide the fact that it’s one of the most gruesome series on TV, and cable is full of similar programs providing scares, thrills and reasons to cover your eyes on a weekly basis. HBO’s Game of Thrones, AMC’s Breaking Bad and FX’s American Horror Story: Asylum are just some recent examples.

NBC has announced the premiere date for Do No Harm, a Dr. Jekyll/Mr.Hyde-type drama that will take over for Rock Center with Brian Williams in the Thursday-at-10 p.m. time slot.
The Steven Pasquale-anchored drama will debut on January 31.
It centers on Dr. Jason Cole, a neurosurgeon by day and a borderline sociopath by night who goes by the moniker "Ian Price."
Rock Center, meanwhile, will shift to Fridays at 10 p.m. beginning February... which means Grimm - which aired its fall finale on November 16 - will return on March 8.
