Epic Games introduced the Fortnite Festival as a new way to indulge in the game’s world, initially launched as a PvE title. Based on the formula popularised by cult classic titles like Rock Band and Guitar Hero.
Since new content keeps coming to the title, fans are always looking for new features released officially or sometimes leaked by content creators. This time, something similar happened when I leaked information about the Festival’s PvP mode, and a fan spotted something exciting.

Ever since its release way back in 2017, Fortnite has emerged as arguably the biggest and most crucial Battle-Royale game that has come out thus far. The Epic Games offering has managed to maintain its growth over the years, boasting a stellar 500 million users as of 2024.
While the game in itself was initially released as Fortnite: Save the World, it was Epic Games’ former chief creative officer, Donald Mustard, who was effectively the brainchild behind the franchise. Mustard left his role in September 2023, but his stellar ideas allowed Fortnite to develop into a franchise that has, to date, generated $26 billion for Epic Games.

As it turns out, Mustard first came up with the design document for the landmark project in the back of an Uber, which he was sharing with three other top executives from Epic Games.

Agbo, the Russo Brothers’ media company, has launched an innovation department, expanding its physical and virtual production capabilities under the guidance of a seasoned executive team.
Under the new setup, Agbo’s technology experts will build proprietary creative tools, with the aim of fostering production innovation and cost efficiencies. The idea is for Agbo and its creative partners to be able to access the company’s emerging set of tools at every stage of development, production, and post-production.
Innovation will have three verticals: production technology, immersive technology and creative. It will be led by Jake Aust, who was recently promoted to Agbo’s Chief Innovation Officer. Over a 20-year career, Aust has been a producer on The Office and Russo-affiliated titles like TV’s Community and feature film Cherry. He was also an executive producer on The Gray Man and most recently served as Agbo’s President of Physical Production.

Agbo is going AI — at least it sounds like it is, at least in part.
The Russo Brothers’ independent studio announced on Wednesday the formation of a new Innovation department, which will blend Agbo’s “physical and virtual production capabilities.” The studio’s technologists will “build proprietary creative tools for storytellers, fostering production innovation and cost efficiency for content across diverse platforms,” the press release reads. The tools will be used in development, production, and post-production.
When reached by IndieWire, a spokesperson for Agbo declined to clarify how much of these tools will be AI or generative-ai. The use of AI in Hollywood is considered sacrilegious by some and an efficient use of technology by others. The truth is it can be both. AI has been the primary — or at least the most public-facing — issue in contract negotiations between the guilds and the studios.

Fortnite Battle Royale has been here for 7 years now, and it would be an understatement to say that the game has evolved. Rather, the massive battle royale game has managed to stay true to its roots while also growing into one of the most popular games in the industry.
However, the game’s humble beginnings were anything but revolutionary. In fact, the very inception of battle royale in Fortnite was an idea that was cradled in an Uber cab ride out of all places. Based on an interview, it seems that Donald Mustard (among a few others) came up with the idea when traveling to a meeting with Disney.
One Cab Ride and an Evolutionary Entry Into Modern-Day Gaming Who could have thought that one of the biggest games was ideated in a cab ride?
In an interview with Game File, the creative genius behind Fortnite explained how the game came to be.

It has been a major few years for Epic Games, and its now-lead title is Fortnite, as it grows at a rapid pace with gamers around the world enjoying the chaotic battle royale mode that has been going for over 7 years, but no matter how big the game gets, gamers will always want more.
One of the many items that players hoped would make its way onto the popular game is the ability to play as characters like Samus Aran, Link, Zelda, and others that are only available on Nintendo consoles, and now, thanks to an interview, we know why they won’t ever make an appearance.

Whether one’s a fan or not, it’s become difficult to deny the impact that Fortnite has had on the industry, as Epic’s battle royale keeps touching new heights and doesn’t seem like it’s going to stop anytime soon. Not only did it popularize the genre that even franchises like Call of Duty have been trying their luck with, but it also proved to be a virtual world.
Players could log on and catch up with their friends, regardless of their physical location. It may have started as a free-to-play battle royale where gamers had to survive, but it transformed into something grander, and the original director, Donald Mustard, was one of the key reasons for that.

Fortnite is undoubtedly one of the best battle royale games of recent times. Launched back in 2017, the popularity and hype of the game continue seven years later in 2024 as well, thanks to the developer’s efforts to keep the game updated and fresh.
The game has about six game modes, among which the battle royale mode is hands-down the most sought-after. One of the brilliant minds behind the mode was the director Donald Mustard. The mode involves 100 players skydiving onto an island and hunting for gear to defend themselves from fellow players. Players can either choose to fight alone or with up to four other players.

Mustard just last year stepped down from Epic Games. He later spilled the beans on his exit and the concept of Fortnite Battle Royale mode during an interview.

Fortnite is a very successful live-service battle royale game. In fact, it is unmistakably one of the most played battle royale games of recent times. This game took its developer and publisher, Epic Games, to new heights of popularity. After seven years of its launch, it remains the same popular game that it was years ago, all thanks to the constant updates and numerous crossovers.

Epic Games’ Fortnite has grown in both scope and appeal over the years. Much of this has to do with the regular updates the game gets, in the form of content, and live events. Additionally, the game has done several celebrity collaborations, which have always managed to keep things fresh and exciting for the fans.

Out of all of these, one thing that many Fortnite players look out for is the live events. These live events are based on the game’s storyline and offer rewards to the players. These live events are huge, as they engage the game’s global fans together for a shared experience.

Invincible ended its second season with a bang. In the classic Multiverse of Madness-style, there is an entire sequence where Mark is thrown from one universe to another, each having some or the other Easter egg. From Spider-Man showing up in the form of Agent Spider, who was fighting Prof. Ock, to Invincible making fun of Batman’s name on a rooftop, this part of the episode was fun, to say the least.

On top of these references, there was also a universe plagued with zombies, making a not-so-subtle nod to just how many people from The Walking Dead are a part of the series. One would assume that one of these three cameos would be favored by the show’s creator, Robert Kirkman. However, it would seem that something else had him a lot more excited; a split-second cameo of a gun.

Other highlights included Q&As with Stanley Tucci, who screened his 1996 culinary comedy Big Night; Reinaldo Marcus Green, who brought his 2018 thriller Monsters and Men and veteran casting director Margery Simkin. The festival also hosted a packed keynote industry-focused panel chaired by Deadline’s Mike Fleming featuring Joe Russo,...

Forget about Tony Stark’s smarthouse in “Iron Man”: longtime Marvel director Joe Russo believes artificial intelligence will bring the stuff of comic book fantasy to life in a matter of years.
During a panel discussion with Epic Games Cco Donald Mustard moderated by Collider, Russo speculated that an entirely A.I.-made film is roughly “two years” away.
“The value of it is the democratization of storytelling. That’s incredibly valuable. That means that anyone in this room could tell a story, or make a game at scale, with the help of a photoreal engine or an engine and A.I. tools,” Russo said. “That, I think, is what excites me about it most.”
While Russo noted it’s a “mind-bending question” about how A.I. will impact Hollywood, the filmmaker noted that Gen Z is key to ushering in the A.I. age.

"Avengers: Endgame" filmmaker Joe Russo is once again thinking out loud about the future of movies. After proclaiming that theatrically released indie movies aren't the future in 2021 and stating that theaters, in general, might not be the future last year, Russo now has some thoughts on what the future of the medium does look like. His vision? Why, artificial intelligence, of course!
During a panel at the Sands International Film Festival moderated by Collider, Russo answered questions alongside Epic Games Chief Creative Officer Donald Mustard. The pair were in attendance to discuss the future of storytelling across film, TV, and video games, so naturally, the conversation wandered in a pretty unnerving direction when the pair were asked about how they think AI will influence these major mediums. Russo began answering the "mind-bending question" by explaining that, since there's been such an explosion in technology during Gen Z's lifetime, their relationship to new technologies is unique.

Fortnite, the extremely popular battle royale game, was certainly one of the most abstract games when it was released and still remained that way today. Currently, the game is in what is called Chapter 2, Season 8 specifically with Chapter 3 rumored to be as around the corner as physically possible without actually being here, however, this was all speculation due to leaks always being a slightly unstable source. Outside of leakers, plenty of fans and players have been able to pull clues out of Fortnite itself and from tweets and other Twitter-related things from Donald Mustard. Plenty of strange

More reality-warping high jinks are currently afoot in Fortnite, this time in the form of a mysterious portal.
As pointed out by FortTory over on Twitter, the anomalous door between worlds has only recently opened and, as of writing, is believed to be a teaser for another upcoming crossover. For those that missed the show, Epic Games’ Donald Mustard confirmed during the Game Awards that several characters from beloved franchises would soon be paying a visit to Apollo Island, including Master Chief. The star of 343 Industries’ (formerly Bungie’s) Halo series and mascot of the Xbox brand is now available for purchase in-game with V-Bucks currency, but who – or what – is destined to walk out of this particular tear in space-time?
Well, Daryl Dixon and Michonne of The Walking Dead fame are almost certainly the individuals due to cross over shortly as they, too, were teased last week. What remains to be seen however,...

Fortnite‘s current season is already jam-packed with an overwhelming amount of Marvel content, but fans shouldn’t be at all surprised to learn that even more is on the way.
According to Epic Games’ worldwide creative director Donald Mustard, in fact, Season 4 is simply the jumping off point for bigger, potentially more ambitious crossovers to come. Speaking on a recent episode of podcast This Week in Marvel, Mustard described how the battle royale’s current Nexus War story arc isn’t something that will be resolved in its entirety prior to the beginning of Season 5 and will, instead, serve as a lead-in to more superhero shenanigans down the road.
What that will entail is anyone’s guess, of course, as right now, it remains to be seen what will come of Galactus’ quest to devour Apollo Island. Normally, we’d be inclined to give Thor and his colleagues the...

Fortnite has already conquered the pop culture spheres of comic books and film and now, it seems as if Epic Games has its sights set on crossing over with one of gaming’s biggest IPs. Super Smash Bros., Nintendo’s all-star brawler – itself having forged a reputation as the go-to fighting title for profile-raising collaborations – continues to deliver new Dlc characters from franchises all across the industry, and it’s looking increasingly likely that Fortnite could be next in line to join the party.
That’s according to leaker and data miner FireMonkey, at least, who says they’ve received a tip from a reliable source detailing a call which reportedly took place between Epic director Donald Mustard and games journalist Geoff Keighley. The call in question was apparently held over Zoom and involved discussions ranging from this year’s Game Awards ceremony to the future of Fortnite.

As any Fortnite fan who’s spent time in-game over the last month or so can attest to, Season 4’s so-called Nexus War story arc is the battle royale’s most ambitious yet in terms of crossovers. Various heroes from Marvel’s extensive character library have shown up on Apollo Island in the past, but this time around, the comic book giant has woven its very own fictional continuity into Epic’s phenomenally successful title, with big bad supervillain Galactus serving as the linchpin tying everything together.
As the latest in a long line of the world devourer’s reluctant heralds, Thor has taken it upon himself to enlist help in the fight against his master. While an outcome on that front has yet to be decided, one can only assume that Apollo Island’s native population (that’s you) will succeed in the defense effort and send Galactus back to where he came from.

With most theater chains still closed, Christopher Nolan took to a new medium: He premiered the “Tenet” trailer on on Fortnite last Thursday, marking the first time a high-profile film trailer has debuted on a video game. While Nolan is an unabashed fan of the very biggest screens, the very biggest audience was the next-best thing.
After decades of Hollywood finding mixed success as they mined video games for IP, the biggest opportunity may lie in marketing directly to the video game audience. According to a tweet from Epic Games worldwide creative director Donald Mustard, Nolan’s inspiration to create the Fortnite premiere was borne of necessity — but even when theaters return, there’s every reason to believe that video games will become an increasingly essential part of movie marketing. The new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s latest film “Tenet” will make its world premiere on “Fortnite” in the multiplayer game’s Party Royale mode, Epic Games announced on Thursday.
“Fortnite” gamers can watch the new trailer live from the game’s “Big Screen” at 8 p.m. Et tonight. The trailer will then play every hour at the top of the hour for the next 24 hours.
It’s unclear whether or how soon the trailer might roll out online on other platforms, including the movie’s Twitter and Instagram pages and the Warner Bros. YouTube channel.
The first look at Nolan’s “Tenet” actually only premiered in theaters and never online before a full trailer rolled out in December, so it’s very likely that Nolan and Warner are testing out some new methods of creating buzz. But regardless, any “Fortnite” players who are also Nolan fans should get excited.

If you managed to log off of Fortnite this weekend (though we wouldn’t blame you for wanting to catch the in-game Travis Scott concert) and hopped onto Netflix, you might have noticed a brand new action thriller by the name of Extraction. With a screenplay penned by Joe Russo, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a former Special Air Service Regiment operator turned mercenary who is tasked with rescuing a drug lord’s son in Bangladesh.
While the film has attracted its fair share of criticism because of its excessive violence and its use of a somewhat problematic yellow filter, its popularity has skyrocketed over the past few days, and it quickly found itself at the top of Netflix’s most-watched lists. Interestingly, it’s caught the eye of a few key people from both Marvel and Fortnite‘s creative team, leading some to wonder whether or...

For a while now, data miners have been excavating various files pointing towards a new event meant to close out Season X: Out of Time, one that’s simply dubbed The End. What that will entail, nobody knows, but the game’s developer seems eager to play up the supposed destruction of Fortnite.

Since launch a few years back, the battle royale’s explosive popularity has seen it play host to a number of spectacular limited-time events. From films to comic books and everything in-between, Epic Games has secured a wild number of collaborative projects in Fortnite‘s short – relatively speaking – lifespan, the most recent of which saw DC’s Batman and Gotham City itself take a detour to Battle Island.
Marvel’s Avengers, John Wick and Borderlands 3 are just a sample of the delights that preceded the Dark Knight’s cameo and by the looks of it, Epic could already be planning its next venture. Fortnite creative director Donald Mustard recently updated his Twitter profile with a new banner image and fans think the change is a cheeky hint for yet another partnership with Marvel.

One of today’s biggest video games is crossing over with one of today’s biggest movies: “Avengers: Infinity War” is now a part of multiplayer shootout “Fortnite,” at least for a limited time.
Starting today, “Fortnite” now includes a special object — Thanos’ all-powerful Infinity Gauntlet, the glove he wears that houses the six Infinity Stones. Players who find the gauntlet while playing “Fortnite” transform into Thanos, gaining his ridiculous power. That player also becomes a target for everyone else in the game, changing the free-for-all play style of “Fortnite” into a manhunt for the universe’s scariest bad guy.
You can check out the quick teaser trailer below.

“Fortnite” has recently taken the video game landscape by storm. The hugely popular title, developed by Epic Games, drops 100 players onto a large island with nothing but their wits and an axe they can use to bash other players and cut down trees. After skydiving onto the island, players have to scavenge for weapons to use to fight everybody else. The idea is to be the last person standing, like a video game version of “The Hunger Games” or the Japanese film “Battle Royale.” In fact, the genre of game “Fortnite” fits into, along with other popular titles like “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds,” borrows the name “Battle Royale” from the film.
You might have heard about “Fortnite” when rapper Drake played the game on video game streaming portal Twitch and quickly obliterated viewer records.

The crossover is a huge get for Epic Games, who have climbed to the top of the trendy Battle Royale mountain with “Fortnite,” which is free to download and play on PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One. As Entertainment Weekly reports, “Infinity War” directors Joe and Anthony Russo are gamers and big fans of “Fortnite,” and apparently the crossover marketing opportunity was their idea.
“Over the past few months, while we were editing Infinity War, we’d take breaks to hop on and get in a few games,” Joe Russo told Entertainment Weekly. “And then we started thinking, how cool would it be to have some kind of Avengers-Fortnite mashup?”
Apparently, the directors contacted Epic Games’ worldwide creative director, Donald Mustard, and the idea took off. And now Thanos can up in “Fortnite” to try to ruin a whole new universe.

Since there’s already a website that helps fans of “Infinity War” figure out if they’d survive Thanos, it seems fitting to have a game that gives them the opportunity to find out if they could fill in for the roles of Captain America, Black Panther, Scarlett Witch or Iron Man in fighting him.
Then again, “Fornite” is a bit of a ridiculous game, with a cartoony style, crazy things like rocket launchers and teleporters, and a ton of dancing. At least taking on the Mad Titan in the game isn’t as much of a downer as it was in the movie, as this video from gaming site Polygon suggests.

Now that he’s done battling the Avengers in “Infinity War,” Thanos is coming to the popular online battle royale game “Fortnite,” according to Entertainment Weekly.

It’s like a regular “Fortnite” match, but with one major difference — the Infinity Gauntlet will appear on the map. Heading to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 sometime in early 2016 is Shadow Complex Remastered, an upgraded version of ChAIR Entertainment’s beloved and award-winning sidescroller. That isn’t all, though, as the remastered version of the hit game was also developed for PC and is currently available as a free download for the holidays. Don’t snooze, though, because it’s only going to be that way until December 31st.
A 2009 fan favourite, Shadow Complex won multiple awards and engrained itself as one of Xbox Live Arcade’s best games. At least, that’s the consensus. For some reason, I’ve yet to play through it myself.

At 5pm today, Apple will begin selling the iPad 2, an updated version of last year's tremendously successful tablet. In addition to obvious improvements like a thinner size and two cameras, the iPad 2 comes with a much more powerful processor, and more memory.
