- Folk singer and fiddle player. She is daughter of folk singer/guitarist Martin Carthy and former singer with The Watersons Norma Waterson, a folk group which also contained her uncle Michael Waterson, aunt Elaine Waterson (Lal Waterson) and second cousin John Harrison. She, her parents and her sister Lucy's husband Saul Rose went on to form Waterson Carthy in 1994.
- She was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2014 Queen's Birthday Honours List for her services to Folk Music. She is the third member in her family to receive the same exact honor. Her father, Martin Carthy, was awarded in 1998. Her mother, Norma Waterson, was awarded in 2002. She is a musician in North Yorkshire, England.
