Bellator
Fresh off the shocking upset of Brandon Halsey choking out the much more experienced, lauded Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko (well, he’s not champion any longer) at Bellator 126 comes a bout between Daniel Straus and Justin Wilcox in one of the most confusing cards Bellator has offered so far this year.
Straus is a former featherweight champion who lost his belt back to Pat Curran earlier this year, the very same man he won it off in the first place. Wilcox most recently fought at lightweight; prior to that he lost the season nine featherweight tournament to Patricio Freire. Basically, these are fighters on the rebound. Also on the card: Kendall Grove, Karo Parisyan, and on the undercard, Sokoudjou. That’s a bit of a surprising placement, given that earlier this year, Sokoudjou was one of their bigger signings.
It’s a card with a lot of names...

Once in a blue moon a fighter arises from nowhere who really catches the eye of the Mma community. The cliché of the hype train is a term that best describes this. On occasion, they are very accurate and warranted – see Jon Jones, Lyoto Machida etc.
Sometimes fans like to claim that they saw fighters rise from obscurity to stardom, and the gargantuan rise of the aforementioned Jon Jones is hard to put into words; from a middle of the card scrap to short notice title fight in little over a month. Jones won the light heavyweight belt with an impressive victory against Shogun Rua, going on to defend his belt 5 times and clinching a Nike sponsorship deal in the process. Hype well and truly granted.
However, this article will look at those occasions when a fighter has a heap of potential and hype but has not been able to deliver.

Before I write another word about Johny Hendricks, I have a confession to make.
I am biased.
I am an Oklahoma State alumnus, born and raised in beautiful Stillwater, Oklahoma. At the dinner table each night as a young Lucky, we thanked God for Henry Iba, Eddie Sutton, and the entire Smith wrestling dynasty (LeRoy, John, Pat, & Mark) with their 7 national championships and 2 Olympic gold medals. I take great pride in the 34 national champions and 134 individual Ncaa championships of my school and alma mater. And our Johny is part of that bedrock.
When I see a Cowboy wrestler with a freaking spitter on stage at a Ufc presss conference, rocking an epic beard, and his easy going folksy accent, I know that’s my guy. That’s a Good Ole Boy. Now with all of that being said, I can objectively and emphatically state:
Johny Hendricks Is Getting Screwed

Karo Parisyan
Fight fans have been waiting for Karo Parisyan to get out of suspension and return to the octagon at Ufc 106 , but now it turns out that the embattled Ufc fighter won't returning to your TV screen after all, and not anytime in the future – at least on Ufc. Ufc head honcho had some powerful words for Karo and his fans on his twitter. Strong language ahead.
"Karo Parisyan has [expletive] over the Ufc, the fans and his opponent again!!! He will not be fighting saturday or ever again in the Ufc,!!"
White said after Parisyan pulled out the day before weigh ins for his fight against Dustin Hazelett. Apparently, Karo Parisyan has struggled with depression, anxiety, and panic attacks over the years. The problem has become serious enough to impact Karo's ability to live up to his contracts, but White isn't hearing any of it. In a subsequent tweet,...
