Veteran film executive Paul Davidson has acquired the remake rights to “Electric Dreams,” the 1984 film written and produced by Rusty Lemorande.
Davidson — who previously ran The Orchard and Idw Entertainment — struck the deal with Lemorande, who retained the rights to the film after its release nearly four decades ago. Brian T. Arnold, whose script “In the End” appeared on the 2021 Black List and is being produced by Sister, will pen the new movie.
In a statement, Davidson described the original “Electric Dreams” as “an iconic film that left a deep imprint on me from the first time I saw it.” He adds: “Released in what is clearly one of the best decades for film ever, it remains a classic that feels especially prescient today. Joining forces with Brian and Rusty is immensely exciting.”

Exclusive: Finding Dory scribe Victoria Strouse has been tapped by Fox 2000 to adapt the nonfiction Katherine Sharp Landdeck book The Women With Silver Wings, which Tony-winning Hamilton director Thomas Kail is developing to direct. From Broadway to the silver screen, Deadline is reporting that Hamilton‘s Thomas Kail has signed on to direct World War II pic Silver Wings for Fox 2000.
Based on Katherine Sharp Landdeck’s nonfiction novel, The Women With Silver Wings, the true-life drama chronicles the remarkable journey of Wasp – that is, the Women Airforce Service Pilots who became the first female pilots in history to fly for the U.S. military during the throes of WWII. It’s an awards-friendly pitch, and one that evokes memories of last year’s Nasa drama Hidden Figures for all the right reasons. For despite their inspiring bravery and courage, the American government outright refused to acknowledge the Wasp’s contribution to the war effort until 2009, when a decades-long legal battle came to a head when those Silver Wings were rightfully granted the Congressional Gold Medal and, ultimately, honored as military veterans.

If you aren't familiar with the Women Airforce Service Pilots a.k.a. Wasp, they were a group of women pilots in World War II, who the Us Government had refused to recognize at the time. They denied them veteran benefits and buried their legacy. Well, now they are going to get their own movie called Silver Wings, and it will be helmed by Hamilton director Thomas Kail.
United in a special sisterhood, these trailblazing women broke social norms while bravely serving their country. After the war, the U.S. government refused to officially recognize the WASPs, denying them veteran benefits and burying their legacies. Only in 2009, after a decades-long battle, are the women’s WWII contributions finally honored, when they are granted the Congressional Gold Medal and officially recognized as military veterans.
The film will be based on a non-fiction book about these pilot's story that was written by Katherine Sharp Landdeck,...
