We've seen Kate Winslet play real people on screen before, including Mary Anning and Iris Murdoch, but for Lee, she's diving into a combination of internal drama and devastating scenes of war. The first trailer for the drama is now online and you can see it below:
Eschewing the cradle-to-grave treatment, the film, directed by award-winning Cinematographer Ellen Kuras, follows a pivotal, explosive (in more ways than one) decade in the life of American war correspondent and photographer Miller, who swapped the life of a runway model for a dangerous existence on the front lines of World War II.
Her talent and unbridled tenacity resulted in some of the 20th century's most indelible images of war, including an iconic photo of Miller herself, posing defiantly in Hitler's private bathtub. And she did all that while battling childhood trauma and paying a huge personal price.
The cast for this one also includes Josh O’Connor,...

The trailer for Kate Winslet’s biopic about World War II correspondent photographer Lee Miller, Lee, shows Winslet struggling to hold a camera as bombs explode around her. Wearing a soldier’s helmet, she looks shaken and scared as she questions her life choices in voiceover: “Why does it matter? They’re just pictures.” But the emotion on her face and the trauma she subjects herself to for the pictures suggests the film, which opens in theaters on Sept. 27, will present a nuanced portrait of the photographer.

Kate Winslet‘s Lee finally has a debut teaser trailer.
Lee begins in the late 1930s, as Hitler amasses power in Germany. Miller (Winslet) leaves her world and her artistic circle of friends behind in France, and travels to London, having fallen wildly in love with the art dealer Roland Penrose (Alexander Skarsgård). The two embark on a passionate relationship, then war breaks out in Europe. Already a renowned photographer, Miller gains a job completing assignments for British Vogue, but is shocked by the restrictions placed on female photographers. As Hitler’s regime takes over Europe, Miller grows increasingly frustrated that her work is constrained by patriarchal rules, leaving her documenting the British home front. Determined to be where the action is she defiantly pushes against the establishment and with the blessing of her friend and editor Audrey Withers (Andrea Riseborough), Miller overcomes enormous obstacles and gets herself to the frontline of World War II.

Kate Winslet clearly enjoys trading her traditional movie star beauty to play tough, life-hardened women (see: Mare Of Easttown). It makes her well-suited to star as Lee Miller, who traded her own comfortable life as a model-turned-fashion photographer to become a photojournalist on the ground in World War II.

It’s been a long time coming, but a remake of the 1994 film The Crow (which was based on the comic book series created by James O’Barr) will finally be making its way out into the world on August 23rd, which is when Lionsgate will be giving the film a theatrical release. With that release date swiftly approaching, we figured we should gather together all the information we have on this movie… and here it is, Everything We Know About The Crow Remake:
Development Hell
When the original The Crow was released, it was successful enough to spawn a franchise, with three sequels following over the next eleven years. We got The Crow: City of Angels in 1996, The Crow: Salvation in 2000, and The Crow: Wicked Prayer in 2005, with several other potential sequels (including one that would have been written and directed by Rob Zombie) being developed and scrapped along the way.

Creator Victor Levin and star Andrea Riseborough discussed their Masterpiece on PBS miniseries Alice & Jack at Deadline Contenders TV on Saturday. Riseborough plays Alice and Domhnall Gleeson plays Jack in the six-episode show that follows their relationship over 16 years. Riseborough said she often is frustrated that most conventional love stories worry about making the characters likable and perfectly moral.
“I know when I’m in love, I’m a total idiot and have no ability to behave even remotely like a normal human,” she said. “Everyone deserves to be a protagonist in their own love story.”
Riseborough acknowledged that Alice tends to close herself off to Jack’s love.
“I think we do that,” she said. “If you have the courage, you can courageously, truly love someone, you often protect them from yourself in certain ways. She has quite a lot of damage. In the most loving way, although the fallout is very painful,...

Renée Zellweger (Judy) has closed a deal to reprise the role that brought her her first Oscar nomination in Universal Pictures and Working Title’s Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Deadline has learned.
Others set to return in the film, from director Michael Morris (To Leslie), include Hugh Grant (Wonka) and Emma Thompson. Newcomers to the cast will include Chiwetel Ejiofor (Rob Peace) and Leo Woodall (The White Lotus).
Based on the beloved novels from Helen Fielding, and a previous column she wrote as the title character for The Independent, the rom-com franchise Bridget Jones centers on Zellweger’s endearing yet perpetually single character of the same name, examining her relationships with the dashing Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), and the roguish Daniel Cleaver (Grant), among others. The original film adaptation, Bridget Jones’s Diary, was released in 2001, with follow-ups Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason...

The number of Gold Derby readers predicting the 2024 Primetime Emmy nominations in 16 major categories has risen above 2,000 even with the nominations announcement still three months away. Our predicted lineups have changed significantly within the last week alone, indicating increased support for some programs and greater apathy toward others.
Four new predicted acting nominees have emerged since April 1. The only one hailing from a continuing series is Theo James (“The Gentlemen”), who grabbed the fifth comedy lead actor spot from Kelsey Grammer (“Frasier”). The other three are TV movie star Tony Shalhoub (“Mr. Monk’s Last Case”) and limited series actresses Anna Sawai (lead; “Shōgun”) and Fiona Shaw (supporting; “True Detective: Night Country”) who displace Michael Douglas (“Franklin”), Naomi Watts (“Feud: Capote vs. The Swans”), and Andrea Riseborough (“The Regime”) respectively.

At a dinner celebrating Thom Browne’s 20th anniversary and his just-launched capsule collection at Saks Fifth Avenue, the designer told the guests — who included Diane Keaton, Janelle Monáe, Logan Lerman and Danai Gurira — that the night felt like a homecoming.
“L.A. is almost my second home … I do feel like I had five really formative years here that I still hold dear to this day,” Browne explained during a toast at Mr. Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills Thursday night.
Years before he launched his label, the designer of now-iconic suits that have redefined suiting had trekked to Los Angeles while searching for a professional passion. The late interior designer Paul Fortune, whose clients included Sofia Coppola and Marc Jacobs, befriended Browne and later offered his guesthouse as a residence. It was there, adjacent to a pool under the California sunshine, that Browne began to contemplate his future.

Gerri is heading West.
J. Smith-Cameron, the actress best known for her two-time Emmy-nominated performance as acid-tongued general counsel Gerri Kellman on “Succession,” is joining the cast of “Hacks” Season 3 as a recurring guest star, Variety reports.
Details of Cameron’s role are being kept under wraps, but it’s very easy to see her trading barbs with Deborah Vance (Jean Smart), or being polite but cutting with Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder).
“Hacks” is a Max comedy series about the professional and personal relationship between an aging Las Vegas stand-up comic (Smart) and the young writer (Einbinder) she hires to help her modernize her material. Smart has won two Emmys for her performance, and the series has earned two nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series, among many other nominations.

In HBO’s The Regime, Kate Winslet stars as a foreign dictator who rules with an iron fist and crushes any sign of dissent — and her governing style might seem familiar to American voters, director Stephen Frears says.
When asked by The Hollywood Reporter what one of the show’s messages might be, Frears was blunt: “Don’t vote for Trump.” The celebrated director, who helmed three of the season’s six episodes, sees parallels between Winslet’s grandstanding, narcissistic chancellor Elena and the current Republican frontrunner, noting that “the reality of Trump [returning to the presidency] has increased and grown stronger” since the show began development.

Writer-director Brandon Cronenberg proves a proper chip off the old block with his second feature, Possessor, a brilliantly directed and startlingly original sci-fi horror that’s worthy of instant classic status. In fact, it’s fully deserving of a place alongside his father’s very best films, it’s that good.
Opening with an immediately unsettling stabbing sequence, the film centres on Tasya Vos (Andrea Riseborough), a seasoned assassin who’s able to “possess” unsuspecting strangers and use their bodies to commit murder-for-hire, thanks to brain-implant technology developed by her employers. However, repeated exposure to the procedure has taken a cumulative psychological toll on Vos and she’s beginning to have trouble separating her own psyche from that of her unsuspecting hosts after a job.

If you look through some of the boldest, most ambitious works of the past few years, chances are you’ll find Andrea Riseborough on the call sheet.
The English actress has been involved in everything from Alejandro González Iñárritu’s dark comedy “Birdman” and Tom Ford’s neo-noir psychological thriller “Nocturnal Animals” to Panos Cosmatos’ action horror “Mandy” and Will Tracy’s bizarre political dramedy “The Regime.”
All of these memorable performances start with Oscar-nominated Riseborough’s dedication to keeping “an open mind.”
“I have no idea what’s good for me or what I should explore next. But when it’s in front of you, you know it,” Riseborough told TheWrap at the Television Critics Association’s 2024 winter tour. “It’s far better to not to force something into existence, if you know what I mean, because even if it comes to fruition, it lacks authenticity. Love stories don’t always get the rom-com edit. Alice & Jack, premiering March 17 on Masterpiece on PBS, is a modern love story that explores all the best and worst moments of a relationship that spans 15 years. “I think perhaps in episodic stories, I crave seeing characters whose relationships reflect more accurately the mess or the messy fallout of love,” series star Andrea Riseborough tells TV Insider. “Alice & Jack is a piece that is about two people who are getting things so horribly wrong and really causing such a mess in their wake but are unavoidably linked.” Despite complications from the start, Alice (Riseborough) and Jack (Domhnall Gleeson) form a “deep love” that’s “completely uncontrollable.” Riseborough adds, “It’s like, as a friend of mine would say, trying to ride a squirrel. There’s nothing predictable about it, but there’s something… Love can look like so many things,...

As in the case of HBO's Big Little Lies and The White Lotus, if a limited series is successful enough, producers and networks will bend over backward to find a way to make a second season. Will The Regime be renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
