Exclusive: UK broadcaster Channel 5 is bringing back The Bachelor for a second date. The Viacom-owned network broke up with the Warner Bros-owned dating format in 2012 after two seasons but is rekindling its romance as it looks to find a competitor for ITV2’s Love Island.
Deadline understands that Warner Bros-owned Ricochet is producing the revamped entertainment to air next year. The ten-part series will start filming in South Africa in the autumn.
The show revolves around a single eligible bachelor and a pool of romantic interest. There are a number of conflicts in the elimination series, which sees the bachelor go on large group dates as well as one-on-one dates and two-on-one dates. Finally, the bachelor goes on a series of home-town visits to meet the families of the final four women followed by overnight dates in exotic locations before whittling it down to one winner.

We were already kind of in love with ITVBe - Towie! Dinner Date! The Real Housewives! - but if anything was going to cement that passion, it was the news that The Bachelor is starting on the channel tonight.
We're not talking about the UK's attempt at the monster franchise - sorry Gavin Henson and Spencer Matthews, but you just didn't cut it. Nope, this is the proper Us version - season 16 (out of 19 to date), to be precise.
If you're not familiar with the concept of the show, it's pretty simple - host Chris Harrison guides a (supposedly) eligible bachelor as he whittles down a group of hopeful women through a series of dates until he gets to the final one. And then he proposes (yes, seriously - it's genuinely kind of expected at this point that they'll go the whole hog).

I also like to spend, though, which is another incentive to work hard. London — Rupert Murdoch's British newspaper company on Thursday agreed to pay damages to 36 high-profile victims of tabloid phone-hacking, including actor Jude Law, soccer player Ashley Cole and former British Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott.
In the 15 settlements whose financial terms were made public, amounts generally ran into the tens of thousands of pounds (dollars) – although Law received 130,000 pounds (about $200,000) to settle claims against the now-shuttered News of the World tabloid and its sister paper, The Sun.
News Group Newspapers admitted that 16 articles about Law published in the News of the World between 2003 and 2006 had been obtained by phone hacking, and that the actor had also been placed under "repeated and sustained physical surveillance." The company also admitted that articles in The Sun tabloid misused Law's private information – although it didn't go so far as to admit hacking.

In League Together
Reigning Premiership champions Saracens this week announced a link up with Wigan Warriors, the current rugby league Challenge Cup holders and last years Super League Grand Final winners that will see them sharing ideas, resources and players.
The relationship blossomed on the back of discussions between the two clubs that resulted in England international Joel Tomkins switching codes after the London based club bought out the four remaining years of his Wigan contract for a reported £250,000.
With the resultant cash, Wigan were able to secure Tomkins’ younger brother Sam on a lucrative new contract believed to be worth £200,000 a year until 2016 for the 22 year old who has become one of the biggest names in the sport, and has been much coveted by many within both union and league.

Aden Theobald's eviction from the Big Brother house has kept up Channel 5's consistent Friday night ratings. In fact, the 1.61m (6.8%) who watched Aden get the boot over Anton made it the second most popular eviction show this year. The only eviction to attract more viewers was the very first, which saw the public get rid of Tashie Jackson. Gavin Henson's The Bachelor followed at 10pm with minimal drop-off, landing 1.17m (6.5%). Aden's eviction interview, which saw him ask out Rebeckah Vaughan, upped the stakes to 1.33m (10.4%). Big Brother's Bit On The Side followed with 601k (6.9%). Prior to Channel 5's Big Brother programming, Ultimate Police Interceptors aired at 8pm to a reasonable 1.07m (4.7%). Our young critics competition turned up some fearless talent
What makes a great critic? Lots of things: an eye for detail, an instinct for the right adjective, an empathy with audience and artist. A great critic can make a reader feel that they, too, have been there: watching, listening, holding their breath. A great critic's opinion carries conviction; a great critic loves language. And, in a world where everyone has an opinion, and the means to share it, these qualities matter more than ever: a professional 21st-century critic has to look harder, write funnier, be smarter than anyone else.
So it's a tough job, but somebody has to do it – and somebody has to do it after this generation have had their turn. For the fourth year running, we've been looking for the UK's best young critics. We asked for entries in eight categories, and split those into two age...

Disgusting. That's what I'm thinking; that's my gut instinct. It's reminiscent of the swimming-pool changing rooms back at school, where I'm scared to look at anything in case it offends someone. This is the Homage to Lucian Freud, one of Britain's best modern artists, who died on 20 July 2011. Seventeen paintings by Freud are displayed. I'm standing in an eerily plain room in the Metropolitan Museum of Art 3,000 miles away from where I'm comfortable.
The only painting I can easily look at is, funnily enough, Naked Man, Back View. The only one that doesn't contain full-frontal nudity offers full dorsal nudity. It shows a fat man plonked on a footstool. His sitting position pushing out roll...
