Quibi — a short-form video service from Jeffrey Katzenberg, whose name is short for “quick bites” — is developing the 2003 romantic comedy into a series, which is being described as a “modern” take on the original story.
Per Quibi’s official synopsis, the series “follows a glib young online columnist and an oversexed advertising executive who both need to prove, once and for all, they’re capable of being monogamous. They soon discover, however, keeping a relationship is harder than Andie Anderson made it look!

Written by Guy Branum (The Mindy Project), the reimagined How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days follows a glib young online columnist and an oversexed advertising executive who both need to prove, once and for all, that they’re capable of being monogamous. Chucky is back — and he’s gone high-tech.
The official trailer for the “Child’s Play” reboot was released Thursday, revealing a murderous doll for the digital era.
Yep, he’s still got a sharp knife and an evil blank stare as he did in the 1988 horror classic, but now Chucky is connected to the Buddi app that claims to introduce you to “your new best friend.” With friends like these, who needs serial killers?

"More than a toy... he's your best friend." While the Child's Play franchise featured the terrors of a corrupted Good Guys doll, the remake will focus on the horrors of a malevolent "Buddi" doll, as evidenced by the film's new poster, which also reveals the movie's 2019 release date.
The new poster was unveiled on the official Child's Play Facebook page (see below) with the caption, "The fun is just getting started. Your best friend hits theaters nationwide on June 21, 2019."
Despite the different name, the killer doll still looks very similar to the Good Guys doll named Chucky from the previous seven installments in the franchise. Doll Brawl: Chucky Vs. Woody & Buzz As Orion Dates ‘Child’s Play’ Redo Against ‘Toy Story 4’ In June
Orion Pictures has set June 21 as the release date for its relaunch of the horror franchise Child’s Play. That’s the one with Chucky, the demented doll possessed with the soul of a serial killer.
This sets up as counterprogramming to another doll franchise, as Disney opens Toy Story 4 the same day, and parents of young children will want to be careful not to slip into the wrong door in the multiplex or face therapy bills later. Orion president John Hegeman announced the Child’s Play date today; the pic follows a mother who gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.
Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry and Gabriel Bateman star with Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio and Carlease Burke. Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) directed from Tyler Burton Smith’s script. David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith produced under the KatzSmith Productions banner. That...

Orion Pictures will release the reboot of “Child’s Play,” starring Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, and Gabriel Bateman, on June 21, 2019.
Plaza will portray the mother who gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature. Henry will play the role of a police detective and Bateman will portray the son. Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio, and Carlease Burke are also in the cast.
Lars Klevberg (“Polaroid”) directed from a screenplay by Tyler Burton Smith, based on the original motion picture released in 1988 about the soul of serial killer Charles Lee “Chucky” Ray being transferred into a doll, which is then given as a gift to a young boy by his widowed mother, who was played by Catherine Hicks in the original. Back in July, it was revealed that a remake of 1988's Child Play was in development, and now MGM and Orion Pictures have announced that production on the contemporary reimagining has commenced in Vancouver, with Aubrey Plaza playing the role of Karen, Brian Tyree Henry as Mike, and Gabriel Bateman playing Andy.
Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) is directing the new Child's Play movie from a screenplay by Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury), with David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith on board as producers.
The original Child's Play was directed by Tom Holland (Fright Night) and co-written by Don Mancini, who has kept the franchise alive by writing six sequels and directing the three most recent installments, and he's also developing a Child's Play TV series. At this time, it does not look like the remake will be connected to the detailed timeline of Mancini's movies.

Back in 2015, David Sandberg rocked the internet with the online release of the Kickstart-funded short film Kung Fury, his ode to 1980s action films and martial arts movies. Several years and nearly 30 million views on YouTube later, a feature-length sequel to Sandberg's short film is now moving forward, and it's been announced that Arnold Schwarzenegger has joined the cast in a key role.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Schwarzenegger will play the president of the United States in the Kung Fury movie. No stranger to the world of politics, Schwarzenegger served as the Governor of California from 2003 to 2011, so playing the president may be something he's already comfortable with.
Slated to start filming this summer, the feature-length sequel's cast also includes Michael Fassbender and David Hasselhoff, the latter of whom sang and starred in the music video for the short film's featured song, "True Survivor."

A few days ago we learned that Michael Fassbender joined Dan Sandberg's feature film, the Kung Fury sequel. Today it's been announced that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be joining him in the retro Kung Fu adventure. He will be playing the President of the United States!
This is a pretty epic cast so far! The director of the film, Sandberg, is also set to star in the movie, and David Hasselhoff, who was in the original film, will also be back. It's kinda crazy to think that Fassbender, Schwarzenegger, and Hasselhoff will all be in the same movie together! I guess if there's one movie that can make that happen, it's Kung Fury.
The movie is an homage to the 1980s and the crazy martial arts films that came from that era. The new movie will be set in 1985 in Miami, which is being "kept safe under the watchful eye of Kung Fury,...

This year's annual Black List - a listing of the top ten unproduced screenplays floating around Hollywood - was released earlier this week (our own Alison Nastasi wrote about it). Why should screenwriters get all the love, though? Don't aspiring filmmakers deserve some recognition as well? That was the lofty idea behind Viewfinder, a list that ranks the ten best short films, commercials, and music videos in order to bring attention to the creators behind the camera.

After the votes were counted, they placed each video on a website where anyone could see it.
