Iberseries Platino Industria guests got a sneak peek at the first episode of “Codigo Implacable,” the first TV series in a production alliance between Sony Pictures TV (Spt) and The Mediapro Studio. Execs from both companies and some members of its stellar cast, led by Paulina Gaitan, presided over the press conference after its screening.
Speaking first, Mediapro sales head Marta Ezpeleta revealed that they had up to 68 fiction and entertainment projects in different phases of production, among which 20 are fiction series, across Spain and Latin America.
“For those of us in development and production, we have to take advantage of these incredible times,” said Spt exec Ana Bond who cited the production boom high demand for – and acceptance of – premium Latino content.

“Codigo Implacable,” the first project from a co-development and co-production between Sony Pictures Television and The Mediapro Studio, has gone into production in Colombia.
Based on a project originally entitled “35 Years and Counting,” which was announced at the 2019 L.A. Screenings, the series is created by Tms Director of International Content Development Ran Tellem, an Emmy-winning executive producer of “Homeland,” and Mariano Baselga, an executive producer on Tms banner hit “The Head.” The 10-part thriller is being produced by Sony Pictures Television Latin America and Tms for Latin American SVOD service Claro Video.
Penned by José Miguel Nuñez, the Emmy-winning writer of “El Vato,” “Código Implacable” is directed by Joel Novoa (“God’s Slave”), an alum of Spt’s Diverse Directors Program, and executive produced by Madeleine Contreras (“La Reina del Sur”).

Shoot is underway in the outskirts of Irapuato, Mexico, on crime drama Guachicolero, the debut feature of shorts director Edgar Nito.
Nito and Alfredo Mendoza’s script tracks the corruption and downfall of a young man who teams up with local gangsters making a living extracting gasoline from government pipelines.
