Green Day’s new album, Saviors, has arrived.
Their 14th studio album, Saviors, is the first full-length release from Green Day since 2020’s Father of All Motherfuckers, and features more of a political tilt than the band has had in years. The lead single, “The American Dream Is Killing Me,” proves that with its title alone, as well as with lyrics like “Don’t want no huddled masses/ TikTok and taxes/ Under the overpass/ Sleeping in broken glass.”
Speaking about the band’s return to political subject matter, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong explained: “This time, we brought it out, and we felt like it was the perfect time for it… It takes those special, inspired moments to have a moment like ‘The American Dream Is Killing Me.’”
Subsequent singles — “Look Ma, No Brains!” “Dilemma,” and “One Eyed Bastard” — all showed off the record’s beefy, modern rock sound, brought to life by producer Rob Cavallo,...

Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt headed into 2024 knowing his band was going to be a big topic of conversation throughout the year. Their new album Saviors arrives Jan. 19, they’ll spend the summer on a massive stadium tour with Smashing Pumpkins and Rancid, and they’re celebrating the anniversaries of two career-making albums: 30 years of Dookie and 20 of American Idiot.

Three decades ago, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong was sarcastically singing “Welcome to Paradise.” Now at age 51, he’s staidly singing “Welcome to my problems” on “Dilemma,” a plaintive, swinging rocker on Green Day’s 14th LP, Saviors, which owes a debt to Fifties rock and the Ramones. “I was sober now I’m drunk again,” he wails in the chorus. “I’m in trouble and in love again/I don’t want to be a dead man walking.” It’s one of the album’s best songs and,...

Green Day says their next album “Saviors,” announced Tuesday, covers a wide range of topics — from disease, war and inequality to the alt-right, masks and mental health. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the band said that it’s also about, “What would Andy Warhol do? What would John Waters do? What would Quentin Tarantino do?”
Green Day announced the forthcoming album on Tuesday, set for release in early 2024. The first single, released Tuesday, is “The American Dream Is Killing Me.”
“As soon we cut it, we said, `Ok, that’s going first,’” lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong said in a press release. He describes the song as “a look at the way the traditional American Dream doesn’t work for a lot of people — in fact, it’s hurting a lot of people.”

Green Day have been singing about the collapse of the modern world on their albums for years. There’s never been a shortage of source material or inspiration, so they were able to use that same premise to fuel “The American Dream Is Killing Me,” the first official single from their forthcoming studio album Saviors, out Jan. 19.

Green Day have unveiled a new song called “The American Dream Is Killing Me.” It serves as the first single off the band’s upcoming album, Saviors, which is set for release on January 19th, 2024.
As you might expect, the band’s new single gives Billie Joe Armstrong the opportunity to air out his political frustrations — to the tune of a pop punk melody, of course. “Send out an Sos/ It’s getting serious/ Bulldoze your family home/ Now it’s a condo,” he sings, over a back-and-forth riff. Despite its pop structure, it’s a pretty brutal singalong: “Kiss me, I’m dead inside,” Armstrong quips. “Who needs suicide?”
Saviors follows the band’s 2020 LP Father of All Motherfuckers. The new album was recorded in London and Los Angeles with Rob Cavallo, who previously produced albums including Dookie and American Idiot.

“Back then, I just wanted to write songs I could be proud of and be able to play in five years,” Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong told Rolling Stone in 2014 of his mindset two decades prior.
He would of course achieve that and a whole lot more. In 1994, Green Day accomplished what seemed unthinkable for young punks before them: They became an international phenomenon. With the release of the bratty, rousing Dookie, the trio not only made their major-label debut; they created a new youth movement as grunge was beginning its decline.

The idea associated with the phrase “reality TV” back in 2002 was what shows like MTV’s “The Real World” and ‘Survivor” provided to average viewers. Then the world witnessed the birth of American Idol – it changed the very face of American TV by gaining top ratings within a decade and inviting a new streak of competitive reality TV programs with wider target audience than the average viewers.
At the time of its inception, not many people knew personalities like Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson or Ryan Seacrest even existed. The show also brought a hot pop star like Paula Abdul into the spotlight. Thanks to the show’s incomparable success, all these became familiar faces to the public. Singers like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood also got to shine a light on their luck and ride the high horse of fame due to the platform they were offered by American Idol to perform live.

Meat Loaf has come a long way since his acting debut in the 1975 classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” He’s appeared in countless films and television shows including “The 51st State,” “Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny,” “Monk,” “Glee,” and “House, M.D,” among others. He’s also a Grammy Award winner and has sold more than 80 million records worldwide – but don’t call him a musician (more on that later).
Speaking with The A.V. Club, Meat Loaf revealed that “Fight Club” was one of his favorite movies that he’s been a part of because David Fincher let him take part in the directing process.
The actor portrayed Robert “Bob” Paulson, a former body builder who due to his excessive use of steroids got testicular cancer, and at times helped the director pick key takes.

Andrew Lloyd Webber loved School of Rock so much that he bought the rights and turned it into a Broadway musical. That adaptation premieres December 6, but right now we've got the exclusive premiere of one of Lloyd Webber and Glenn Slater's numbers from it. (The score is a mix of originals and songs from the film.) It's called "If Only You Would Listen," and true to Lloyd Webber's intention to focus the show on the children who attend the titular rock school, it features young cast members Taylor Caldwell, Evie Dolan, Carly Gendell, Ethan Khusidman, Bobbi Mackenzie, Dante Melucci, Brandon Niederauer, Luca Padovan, Jared Parker, Isabella Russo, Jersey Sullivan, and Corinne Wilson addressing their parents — who, true to form, just don't understand, man. The School of Rock: The Musical cast recording was produced by alt-rock veteran Rob Cavallo and drops December 4 via Warner Bros. Records.

New York — Josh Groban enjoyed singing sad songs about a breakup on his last album, 2010's Rick Rubin-produced "Illuminations." So when the singer started recording his latest album, which is about another breakup, he changed his approach.
"I'm in a different place, different mindset and the same thing goes – but I wanted the record to feel more energetic, more dynamic, more positive, more rhythmic and uplifting," he said.
"The last record, I was very proud of it, and it was a good record, but it was sad," he continued. "I was in a very, very tough place. I was going through a lot of changes in my life. I had gone through a really bad breakup. ... It felt like I was getting a lot of it out of my system lyrically and musically, so it was a little bit of a sadder record."

Green Day is putting its upcoming tour on hold as the band waits for frontman Billie Joe Armstrong to recover during his time in rehab.
We had a feeling this might happen, as bassist Mike Dirnt previously said the band is putting Armstrong's health at the top of its priorities list. Warner Bros. Records Chairman Rob Cavallo had said that Armstrong might stay in rehab through Christmas and, while we still don't know when he's coming out, it seems as though it won't be any time soon.
"Obviously the timing for this isn't ideal, but Billie Joe's well-being is our main concern," Dirnt writes in a new statement. "We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can't wait to see you all again soon."

Following his admission to rehab in September, Billie Joe Armstrong has been struggling to get clean so he can get back on the road for Green Day's upcoming fall tour. But apparently his meltdown has been as hard on his band as it has been on him.
"Billie doesn't take things lightly and he wouldn't take rehab lightly, either," Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt tells MTV News. "He's in the middle of some really big things, but we're going to pull through. It's killing everyone. Green Day has never been a band that sits still, but sometimes you have to step back and let life go on rather than try to control everything."
The band cancelled their headlining performance at the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in New Orleans on Oct. 27, though they still plan to release their next album, "Dos!," on Nov. 13. However, their upcoming tour, which is supposed to start Nov.

¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! will be issued at two-month intervals, beginning on 25 September
Green Day have announced a trilogy of new albums. ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! will be released at two-month intervals, beginning on 25 September. And according to the band, they are "epic as fuck!".
"We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives," the rockers said. It's a major move for a band in the third decade of their career. The three LPs, due in the next eight months, will comprise Green Day's ninth, 10th and 11th full-length albums. Not since the Clash's Sandinista! has a world-famous punk band lobbed such a mammoth (and Spanish-titled) opus.
"This is the best music we've ever written, and the songs just keep coming," Green day explained. "Instead of making one album, we are making [three]. Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels.

During Wednesday night's Fueled by Ramen 15th anniversary concert, Paramore pulled the curtain back on a brand-new song, "Renegade," and promised that fans will be able to hear a full studio version very soon.
The new song — recorded along with their roaring single "Monster" back in March with producer Rob Cavallo — is a churning, spiky thing, full of roiling bass and guitars, and seems to bridge the gap between the band's punky Riot! past and the more plaintive expanses of 2009's Brand New Eyes. Paramore have been using a recorded version of the brand-new track as their intro music during their recent run of Warped Tour dates. Now, as frontwoman Hayley Williams promised the crowd at...

My Chemical Romance debut a music video filmed to support their latest single "Planetary (Go!)". Having Japanese and English subtitles in the opening scene, the clip is a live performance video which was shot during an "assault party" at O2 Islington Academy in London last month.
"Planetary (Go!)" is lifted from McR's November 2010 studio album "Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys". Coming from production hands of Rob Cavallo, the single peaked at No. 6 on U.K. Rock Songs chart, and is featured in PlayStation 3 video game, Gran Turismo 5.

It's always a bit of a bummer for kids whose birthdays are so close to Christmas. They always get somewhat shafted on gifts growing up, right? But that probably hasn't mattered in a few years for David Cook, who turns 28 years old today. The man who won the seventh season of "American Idol" (arguably the show's second or third best season ever) has two albums, a bunch of singles and a number of dream collaborations under his belt, and you can be certain he is celebrating this holiday season.
Cook grew up in Missouri and started playing guitar at age 12. He famously had no intentions of auditioning for "American Idol" (he was only going to the auditions as support for his brother (who ironically was not given a pass to the Hollywood round). He was something of a quiet underdog in the beginning, but he slowly began to amass a number of excellent,...

My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way
Photo: Warner Bros.
My Chemical Romance's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys is, on the surface, yet another concept album from a band that seemingly makes nothing but concept albums. It's a daring, DayGlo-addled story about a band of outlaws — that would be, of course, the titular Killjoys — battling an oppressive corporation in a postapocalyptic future world (or something like that).
But if you dig a little deeper, past the costumes and car chases and down to the nuts and bolts of how it came to be, you quickly learn that Danger Days is a lot more than just a work of fiction. Its creation was, in all honesty, much stranger than anything frontman Gerard Way ever could have written.
Because, in the near two...

Though their ballad "The Only Exception" continues to be a top 40 staple, Paramore have already unveiled the video for the next single from their Brand New Eyes album, the snarling "Careful."
And, given how alive the song is, it's fitting that the accompanying video features nothing but live footage of the making of Eyes and subsequent tour. Directed by Brandon Chesbro (who also did the video for "Exception"), the "Careful" clip is packed with scenes shot throughout the Bne cycle, including recording sessions in Rob Cavallo's California studio, their world tour and their just-wrapped spring jaunt with Relient K and Fun. So we get to see the band rocking stages big and small (and massive), along with a healthy amount of backstage high jinks thrown in for good measure.
