As movies and TV shows have become the dominant mode of superhero storytelling, some comic writers have crossed mediums with the characters they pen. Allan Heinberg wrote a brief run on "Wonder Woman" and years later wrote the screenplay for the 2017 "Wonder Woman" movie. Brian Michael Bendis, the defining Marvel Comics writer of the 2000s, sat on Marvel Studios' now-disbanded "creative committee." James Gunn, as the co-head of DC Studios, has brought writer Tom King into the fold.
"Deadpool & Wolverine," which brings the 20th Century Fox side of Marvel into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is the latest example of this; one of the movie's five credited co-writers is Zeb Wells, who also wrote an episode of "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law." For some Marvel Comic fans, however, his name lives in infamy.
Now, Wells' "X-Men" related work is well-regarded. The 18-issue series "Hellions" was like a mutant version of "Suicide Squad...

When Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca launched "Star Wars: Darth Vader" in 2015 for Marvel Comics, the veteran comic creators set up the former Anakin Skywalker as almost a Bizzaro Luke Skywalker, complete with an interesting cast of characters from across a galaxy far, far away. Among them were criminal archeologist Doctor Aphra and droids BT-1 and 0-0-0, who are kind of like the evil R2-D2 and C-3Po. Plus, just as Luke had his trusty Rookie friend Chewbacca, Vader crosses paths with Wookie bounty hunter Black Krrsantan when the Hutts hire him and Boba Fett to aid the Sith Lord with his missions on Tatooine.
However, after appearing in other areas of the House of Ideas' "Star Wars" line of comics, Krrsantan would surface again in the second episode of "The Book of Boba Fett" on Disney+. This time, he was pitted against his former partner after Fett...

The Book of Boba Fett picks up the threads of the bounty hunter’s untold adventures in the years after Return of the Jedi, paving a new, unexpected path for the fan-favorite rogue. While most Star Wars fans expected the Mandalorian gunslinger to once again embrace a life of crime, no one could have predicted Boba’s big career change from bounty hunter to Tatooine’s newest crime lord.
But this is actually a Boba Fett story decades in the making. After all, writers were already hard at work continuing the book of Boba just mere months after he took a tumble into the sarlacc pit in 1983. Many of those early stories took place in the pages of the classic Star Wars comics published by Marvel in the ’70s and ’80s. It’s no surprise, then, that the new Disney+ series has already established several connections to Marvel comics, both new and old…...

For a franchise that leans heavily on its anti-corporate tone and history, there is a certain irony on Alien now being controlled by Disney. Disney of course bought 20th Century Fox, who own the Alien franchise, and it probably didn’t take an entire room of marketing executives to decide that Marvel, essentially Disney property’s marketing arm now, should maximise cross-stream revenue. Or give the fans new stories because that’s what they’ve been clamouring for. I’m messing about of course, cynic that I am, but the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Alien, comic book wise, has long been licensed and published by Dark Horse Comics, and they did a fantastic job down the decades, so Marvel have a lot to live up to with this.
Let’s take a look.

DC of late have been putting out a lot of 80th Anniversary one off specials to celebrate some of their big name characters. They’ve been well received, and it seems Marvel wants some of that goodness too. Their approach, though, is pretty different. Wolverine #8 Writer: Benjamin Percy | Artists: Adam Kubert & Viktor Bogdanovic | Colourists: Antonio Fabela & Matthew Wilson | Letters: Cory Petit
I actually really enjoyed this issue despite it not delivering on the cover image. As a sidenote, the cover must be the first time Adam Kubert has drawn Maverick since the 90’s and he looks amazing! The mask doesn’t look a joke no more as he steals all the limelight from the titular star. The pace and tone of the story made for a nice change after all the fanfare of X of Swords. This is the 350th issue of all incarnations of Wolverine as an ongoing series. Apart from being a double sized issue it doesn’t really mark the fact. The issue is split into two stories with the first being called a prologue. It is a ten page prologue but really it just works as an extended opening to the second story.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions, as iconic Marvel villain Doctor Victor Von Doom found out the hard way near the end of the second issue of his new comic series. The armor-clad mastermind has faced down superheroes, supervillains and cosmic entities, but in Doctor Doom #2 by Christopher Cantwell and Salvador Larroca, Doom finds out that the court of public opinion is a far more insidious and deadly adversary.
Doom, the rule of Latveria, voiced his strong opposition to a bizarre new plan to create a black hole on the moon to combat climate change. Soon after, a missile of Latverian origin targets the base of operations for the Black Hole on the Moon plan, killing thousands. Doom is blamed directly for the catastrophe and while on the run, aided by supervillain allies, he’s shot in the head by a single bullet discharged from the gun of master assassin Taskmaster.

Remember that dorky Rebellion General Draven in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story? He was always getting in Jyn Erso’s way and telling her to stop her foolish quest to steal the Death Star plans. Unlike the vast majority of the cast though, he actually survived the film, but not for long, as his eventual fate has been revealed in a touching sequence in the comic Star Wars #55 by Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca.
After failing to prevent Erso from retrieving the plans, Draven apparently tried to make up for his obstructionist past by fully devoting himself to the Rebellion and, in particular, to Princess Leia. The current arc of the comics showed a full-on battle between the Rebellion and the Empire, eventually forcing Leia and Draven (and a few other Rebels) onto an Imperial Ship on a secret mission to purloin some codes. Unfortunately for them, though, their...
