- Lindsay Staloff-Peterson, is the CEO & co-founder of both HERO Locations Co. and of PPCM Fund Inc., both based out of Los Angeles, CA. She earned her M.S.W. from the University of Pennsylvania after receiving her undergrad degree from Lynn University in South Florida. Lindsay relocated to California in 2002, in order to pursue her career in the entertainment industry, quickly becoming one of the most sought after location scouts in Hollywood.
In 2016, the respected industry executive gave birth to her son, Liam; her OBGYN lead her to believe she had a seemingly normal pregnancy, despite Lindsay visiting her OBGYN's office some forty times before giving birth. Just months after becoming a first time mother, Ms. Staloff-Peterson suffered complications from PPCM (Peripartum Cardiomyopathy), resulting in multiple cardiac arrests, a hypothermia coma, & continued complications at the age of 39. In what doctors have referred to as a medical miracle, Lindsay has survived having her time of death called and surviving cardiac arrests 3 times within hours of each other without having major brain damage... Medical professionals have determined that Ms. Staloff-Peterson is the 1% survivor of PPCM in the state of California.
Peripartum Cardiomyopathy (PPCM) or pregnancy-associated cardiomyopathy (PAC) is a pregnancy related heart failure in otherwise healthy young women. PPCM is one of the leading causes of maternal mortality and reported in approximately 1 in every 2,000 pregnancies worldwide. In the US alone, there are approximately 2,000 new cases each year. Thankfully, due to an increased understanding of the causes and treatment of PPCM, mortality rates have dropped from more than 30% to under 1% in 2019. Despite this hopeful statistic, PPCM remains one of the top silent killers of new mothers in the USA and researchers, families of victims and survivors alike believe that no mother should die from PPCM and no baby should be motherless from this preventable disease.
Ms. Staloff-Peterson has become the leading voice for women and the families of women who have survived or lost a family member to Peripartum Cardiomyopathy. As she continues to grow stronger and regain her health, Lindsay uses her voice and has lobbied for change in Washington, D.C. Her initial meeting was with Anthony Theissen, legislative assistant to Congressman Adam B. Schiff of the 28th District of California on May 7, 2019. They discussed the need to raise the standard of screenings, tests and labs as well as implementing a standard of blood tests including the NT-pro BNP Test, BPN Test & Chest X-Ray as well as an EKG Echocardiograms for women in their 3rd tri-mester. While she continues to work with Congress to pass this bill, Lindsay works with, mentors women of all ages and advocates for the need of cardiologists to collaborate with OBGYNs nationwide. She states, "There has to be more education in the medical curriculum about this preventable pregnancy related disease; within medical studies and practices alike in order to save women."
When Ms. Staloff-Peterson woke up from her heart failure in 2016, she realized she was not the healthy young woman she had always been. Now with a weakened heart which was compromised and triggered by the allergy she had to the defibrillator surgeons had given her, she strives to educate women, doctors, politicians and the media on PPCM to save as many lives as possible. She underwent an additional heart surgery on February 14, 2018 to remove the defibrillator which nearly cost her her life again. Today, Ms. Lindsay Staloff-Peterson's purpose in life is to save others with her wounds of wisdom and through her non-profit organization, PPCM Fund, Inc. which she launched in March 2017.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Heather N.
