Lamb of God offset the Los Angeles sunshine with the darkness of "512" during Thursday's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, performing the brooding single on the show's outdoor stage. Led by Randy Blythe's dark bellow and the explosive soloing of guitarist Mark Morton, the metal veterans inspired a crowd mosh pit.
In June, Lamb of God premiered a macabre music video for "512" filled with dead bodies and murderous revenge. The track is featured on the Virginia band's eighth LP, VII: Sturm Und Drang, which was inspired by Blythe's life-changing stint in Prague's Pankrác Prison.

To mark the 20th anniversary of Kevin Smith's celebrated black comedy Clerks, its grungy, punky soundtrack will be released for the first time ever on vinyl. The original soundtrack's mix of dialogue from the movie ("I'm not even supposed to be here today!") and tunes by some of the leading groups of the alternative era will now play out across three sides of two LPs — the final side will contain an etching— and will be available on November 11th.

With just a few more days left til the end of February, now's the time to get in on Amazon's $5.00 MP3 album deal of the month for February 2011: 100 Albums For $5.
Here's some of my favorite picks from the 100 albums on sale: Dio's first album Holy Diver; John Lennon's Imagine; Pat Benatar's Crimes Of Passion; and Fugazi's 13 Songs. There's plenty of other selections from other genres (I saw some R. Kelly, Lil Wayne, Lenny Kravitz, Usher, The Judds, Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, The Smiths, Violent Femmes, Frank Sinatra, and many more.)
There's also a $.69 Song Sale (they are typically $.99 each) where thousands of songs are discounted. You can go to the main page and then view by genre from the list on the left -- there's 102 hard rock/heavy metal songs to choose from (you know that's my area) from bands like Megadeth, Accept, Sepultura, Tesla,...

Hey, remember that Jonah Hex movie they made a while ago? Anyone wondering why we haven't seen any footage of it? Rumor has it the movie sucks according to NYMag.com:a studio spokesman insists a trailer will finally make its debut in front of New Line's A Nightmare on Elm Street, which opens April 30, and that the movie will open as scheduled on June 18. And director Jimmy Hayward (Horton Hears a Who!) texted Vulture to say, "Trailer and film are looking great!" And yet, with this movie's erratic history of creative differences and reshoots, it's hard not to wonder...Ok, so every single movie goes through reshoots. Big deal. What other evidence do they have the movie is a stinker?...we talked to Brent Hinds, the guitarist and singer of the heavy-metal band Mastodon, which has been recording and rerecording the film's soundtrack since last fall. "What I’ve seen...

Today is Election Day, which means that the polls are open and the races for your local school board, aldermen, state representatives and the like are coming to a close with the help of good old-fashioned democracy. There are a handful of notable races happening across the country today, notably for mayor of New York City (something of a foregone conclusion) and for governor of New Jersey (a hotly-contested race) and Virginia (which everybody believes will be something of an early referendum on the job that Barack Obama has been doing). There is also a same-sex marriage law up for grabs in Maine and a civil unions law at stake in Washington (in both situations, laws have been passed but the public has the opportunity to overturn the legislation).
This election cycle obviously hasn't had the same high-profile stars as last year's presidential election (nobody is interested in writing songs...
