Simba the Lion and Lula the Bear Finally Rescued from War-Ravaged Mosul Zoo, Arrive Safely in Jordan
The last two surviving animals at a zoo in war-torn Iraq have been rescued, reports the New York Times.
Found abandoned in February, Lula the bear and Simba the lion were starving and living in cages filled with feces and urine. Lula was also suffering from pneumonia. Simba had a joint condition, and both animals had severe diarrhea and rotting teeth. Locals were trying to look after and feed the remaining bear and lion, whose future looked grim.

The Muppets may be at the Oscars this year, but another fan favorite will be absent: According to E!, the stars of "Breaking Dawn" (probably) won't be presenting statues.
"I don't think it's going to happen," says a source involved in the Oscar preproduction, even though both Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have presented before and have films to promote (Pattinson's "Bel Ami" opens just a few days after the awards and Stewart's "Snow White and the Huntsman" hits theaters on June 1.) E! apparently didn't inquire about the likelihood of Taylor Lautner showing up (he co-presented with Stewart at the 2010 ceremony).
However, don't worry Twi-hards! The Academy will make it up to you with, uh ... Cirque du Soleil. The international troupe, who performed at the Oscars in 2002, is set to return for this year's ceremony.
Over 50 Cirque performers will take part in the one-time-only, three-minute show that will "pay tribute to the movie-theater experience,...

Los Angeles -- Aerialists, acrobats and contortionists from Cirque du Soleil are among the guests at this year's Academy Awards.
The three-minute performance at the Oscars on Feb. 26 will be among the international troupe's biggest yet, said Cirque du Soleil special events director Yasmine Khalil, featuring more than 50 artists. Most Cirque shows employ 75 to 80 artists over two hours, she said.
Cirque du Soleil has a show now at the Kodak Theatre, where the Oscars will be presented, but the performance for the awards telecast is "unique for this one evening" and not taken from any of the troupe's 22 productions playing around the world.
Performers from those shows, however, are heading to Hollywood. Khalil says artists from Japan and Russia are flying in to participate in the Academy Awards segment.
"The theme is very much in line with paying tribute to the movie-theater experience," Khalil said, adding it was different from "Iris,...

Mixtape: Trials of the Blackhearted
Essential Info: DJ Khalil hasn't forgotten where he came from. Before he was an in-demand West Coast producer working on projects from the likes of Drake, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Jay-z, Game and 50 Cent, Khalil made up one half of Self Scientific, along with Mc Chace Infinite. And while the duo hasn't released a full-fledged project since their 2005 album, Change, they've re-emerged, dropping the eight-song Trials of the Blackhearted as a free download online.
"We kinda missed the whole Internet, viral thing," DJ Khalil told Mixtape Daily. "We weren't really heavy on that. Now, we're kinda building up our buzz again. It's almost like we're starting from scratch,...

West Coast producer DJ Khalil may be hard at work on Dr. Dre's Detox, but in between crafting tracks with the Good Doctor, he is working on landing beats on another highly anticipated album: Drake's Take Care.
"With Drake, I'm working on music for him because I know that he's working on his album. So I keep in touch with 40 from his camp; we always talk, and I know Boi-1Da," Khalil told MTV News. "So I'm just in the lab, just tryin' to cook up stuff for him and just tryin' to hopefully come up with another great record, because he's just an incredible artist."

In Egypt, a Facebook page administrator known only by the handle El Shaheeed, or Martyr, is one of the driving forces behind the historic protests. Mike Giglio tracks down the mysterious figure, who talks about his crucial role in organizing the demonstrations.
Iran's Green Revolution had a martyr named Neda, a 26-year-old woman gunned down in the streets of Tehran. Tunisia's was Mohamed Bouazizi, an unemployed university graduate who set himself ablaze outside a government building. Egypt's is Khaled Said-because someone has been agitating under the dead man's name.

'When he brought up Pink, I thought she'd murder it,' producer DJ Khalil says of replacing original singer on 'Won't Back Down.'

Eminem's rumbling "Won't Back Down" is among the most defiant records on Recovery, and the addition of Pink only upped the attitude on the standout track. And it was all the Detroit Mc's idea to tap the outspoken pop singer to add vocals on the number, according to the track's producer, DJ Khalil.
"That was Em's idea," Khalil told MTV News of the collaboration.
The Aftermath producer revealed that a different artist was initially featured on the song, but Pink owned the collabo with her punked-out rendition.
"He called me, and originally we had another vocalist, Liz Rodrigues, who is in my group," Khalil explained. "I have a group called the...

Relapse represented Eminem's return to the spotlight last year after a five-year hiatus, when the rapper descended into a deep drug dependency and suffered from writer's block during his darkest days. The project was rife with heavier fare about his personal demons and a fixation on serial killers, as he returned to his Slim Shady persona to spark creativity. (He recently said he put Slim Shady to bed momentarily for Recovery.)
A year later, however, much has changed, according to those close to the Detroit Mc. Eminem released Recovery on Monday (June 21), a project that represented a departure of sorts for the rapper. He collaborated with a bevy of producers (Just Blaze, DJ Khalil, Jim Jonsin, etc.) for the...
