Donald Glover is busy, apparently so busy as per fans that the Community movie, based on the hit NBC drama of the same name, keeps getting delayed due to his busy schedule. Starring as Troy Barnes in the hit TV series, the actor is one of the several lead characters of the show based on the lives of Community college attendees in the fictional town of Greendale.

First announced in 2022 by Peacock, the movie is yet to start filming. And several fans believe it is because of Glover and his busy schedule that is allegedly causing repeated delays. Even after the Mr. and Mrs. Smith star revealed it is not his fault that the movie hasn’t begun filming, fans refuse to believe him.

Donald Glover has been booked and busy, but those rumors about his schedule holding up production on Peacock’s Community: The Movie aren’t accurate, according to the multihyphenate.
“It’s happening but I don’t know when. I swear, it’s happening,” Glover told Deadline earlier this week at the Deadline Studio at Prime Experience in support of his Prime Video series Mr. and Mrs Smith. The video can be watched above.
When asked if it was his busy schedule holding up production, he said while laughing, “Everybody is hating on me on the internet and it’s not me! They’re like, ‘We know that you’re the reason.’ Maybe I was last year — maybe — but not this time.”

The twin superheroes are back, and what better way to celebrate The Thundermans Return than to get to know the actors at its center a bit better? Kira Kosarin (Phoebe) and Jack Griffo (Max) stopped by TV Insider’s office, and we had them play “Knock Your Blocks Off” to do just that. Some questions in our Jenga trivia game were very TV-related. For instance, Kosarin, since she’s not single (ruling out Love Island), would want to be on Blown Away as a contestant. “There’s a Netflix show about glass blowers, and I’ve been wanting to learn how to blow glass, so I would want to be on that show and I would want them to teach me how to blow glass,” she explains. For her, the best running gag on TV comes from Community, Abed’s (Danny Pudi) breaking of the fourth wall. “It is a tricky one to do well,...

Throughout its six season run, "Community" encountered a genuinely impressive set of challenges. First of all, series creator, Dan Harmon, was kicked off his own show, which considering his behavior wasn't all that shocking. An admitted heavy drinker, Harmon also became notorious for what The Hollywood Reporter referred to as his "eleventh-hour rewrites, or 'Harmon passes,'" which he would foist upon the cast and crew during filming. Harmon also fell out with star Chevy Chase, and the show was known for its long shooting days and erratic schedule. No wonder Alison Brie described the "Community" set as "frantic, frenetic, chaotic"
Then, there was the constant threat of cancellation, which loomed over "Community" until the show was actually canceled by NBC after its fifth season. Yahoo's then-new streaming service, Yahoo! Screen, picked up the show for its sixth and final season that seemed destined to fail. And fail it did.

Six seasons and a movie -- it's finally happening!
A Community movie is apparently in the works, with star Joel McHale stating the film will begin shooting in 2024.
It's been nine years since we last saw our favorite Greendale Human Beings, and we have a lot of questions about the upcoming film. Here's everything we know so far about the Community movie.
Community Movie Release Date
There has been a lot of back and forth about whether a Community movie would ever be made. With the famous "six seasons and a movie" line from the show, fans have long held out hope.
In September 2022, Peacock ordered a Community movie. However, series creator Dan Harmon later expressed concern that the movie wouldn't happen at all despite being "nearly done" with the script.
In January 2023, Joel McHale said the movie would be filming that summer, but production was canceled due to the actor and writer strikes.

American Dreamer deserves better than it has gotten. Shot three years ago during the pandemic this delirously black comedy premiered at Tribeca 2022 and got lost in the crowd. The filmmakers including first time feature director Paul Dektor and screenwriter/producer Theodore Melfi decided to then hold it back and recut and tighten it eliminating 10 minutes of the original running time. In early 2023 it turned up at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, still largely ignored, and then its distribution hunt was further delayed by the Hollywood strikes. Finally Vertical has wisely picked it up and it will be opening in theatres and VOD Friday.
I saw the Tribeca cut and I have seen the final cut. Both worked for me but it was great to experience it a second time in an actual theatre with a very appreciative audience. Comedies work best that way and this one...

After being discussed for around a decade, the Community movie is coming much closer to being a reality, according to star Joel McHale.
In an interview with Deadline today, in support of his Fox sitcom Animal Control, returning for its second season March 6, McHale first pointed to recent comments by co-star Donald Glover in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, confirming that “the script’s done.”
McHale said that while he hasn’t yet read the script himself, he’s more than happy to share some story details. “We go to the center of the earth,” he joked. “It’s like the movie The Core.”
In all seriousness, McHale said, it’s his belief that the Community movie will shoot “this year.” He’ll be “shocked,” he said, if it doesn’t. “But I really do think it’s happening this year, and probably next week. It’s basically working around Donald’s schedule.”
In conversation with Deadline on the Fox lot, McHale also called his Animal Control cast “one of the funniest groups of people I’ve been around” — in contrast to the Community team, who he joked “were just a bunch of hacks.”
While one of his old co-stars, Ken Jeong, appears on Animal Control this season as a dog whisperer, McHale joked that he, too, is “a hack and cannot act or tell jokes,” going on to claim that “he’s not funny, not successful, and I have carried him for years. Everyone thinks I’m joking, but it’s true.”
Of course, in reality, McHale said, Jeong’s episodes were coming in too long because he did “so much funny stuff…He was really way too f***ing funny, and it really pissed me off.”
Created by Dan Harmon, Community ran for 110 episodes across six seasons, between 2009 and 2015, originating on NBC before moving over to the now-defunct Yahoo! Screen for its final run. Watching as McHale’s suspended lawyer befriends a group of eccentrics after being enforced to enroll in community college, the show was not always a ratings juggernaut, though it has maintained a very loyal fan following throughout all these years. Over the course of its run, it also notably won an an Emmy, a Critics’ Choice Television Award, and other accolades.
Peacock officially announced the Community movie back in 2022, enlisting Harmon and Andrew Guest to pen the script. McHale said during a January 2023 interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that it was to begin shooting in June of last year, though those plans fell through in a double strike summer.
In addition to McHale, cast members set to return for the movie include Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Jeong, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Glover.

Editor’s note: The following post contains spoilers for Netflix’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”
Albert Kim needs you to know that he is an “Avatar: The Last Airbender” superfan.
The writer and executive producer of Netflix’s live-action retelling of the Nickelodeon cartoon took on the role of showrunner after creators Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko exited the series — but he was already part of the writers room and a longtime “Avatar” fan before that.
“I did work with [Dimartino and Konietzko] for a short period, and we overlapped while we were here and I got along great with them,” Kim told IndieWire ahead of “Avatar”s February 22 premiere. “I was excited just as a fan to be able to dig in and ask my own nerdy fan questions about Zuko’s mom and who Aang’s parents might be, and all the fun stuff fans like to talk about.

“Community” creator Dan Harmon is inching closer to the finish line for the “movie” portion of his “Six Seasons and a Movie” prophecy.
Following up on former “Community” star Donald Glover’s recent assertion that a script is already in the can, Harmon told Variety that it was almost right. According to Harmon, he’s “almost done” working on the script for the highly-anticipated film, which is set to run on NBCU’s Peacock streaming service.
“I can confirm Donald Glover’s report that I told him the script was done, but I will also say Donald’s sources are so unreliable because the script is always ‘almost done,'” Harmon quipped. “What can I tell you about it — it’s set on the campus of Greendale Community College. I’m super excited about it, and we’re almost done.”

Warning! The following piece contains Spoilers for Netflix’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender” Season 1.
The long gestating live-action TV adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender has finally arrived on Netflix after years of build-up and fanfare. This new series aims to please fans of the beloved animated original and show that the franchise is in better hands than it was with the M. Night Shyamalan movie; while also bringing in a new audience more familiar with Netflix action dramas.
As such, while 2024’s Avatar: The Last Airbender follows the same plot beats as the original show’s Book 1, many have been expanded, condensed, combined, remixed or some combination of the four, while others have been removed altogether. To properly break down these changes, we’ll need to look at all eight episodes individually to see what’s changed and what’s stayed the same. Without further ado, let’s begin.

With apologies to "Star Wars" fans, there are few sacred texts held up with such rapturous praise that can rival the protectiveness fans of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" harbor towards the animated show. Debuting almost two decades ago, the classic story of a mystical chosen one with the power of all four elements tasked with saving the world from a century-long war has taken on mythic proportions in the time since. And, not surprisingly, such acclaim has stacked the odds against any adaptation, whether it be M. Night Shyamalan's doomed feature film from 2010 or Netflix's attempt to bring the series back to life in live action.
The results have been mixed, as I laid out in my review for /Film, but that's really only scratching the surface. There are several factors behind the Netflix show's highs and lows alike,...

Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender has massive shoes to fill with its live-action adaptation of the beloved animated series, and the same is true for the actors tasked with bringing the show’s characters to life. Granted, the bar is likely close to the floor for live-action adaptations after M. Night Shyamalan’s infamous attempt in 2010, but nonetheless, fans expect a lot from whoever tries to adapt this story.

Like the master of all four elements at its center, "Avatar: The Last Airbender" has always had a reputation for being many things at once. Upon its debut almost twenty years ago, the beloved animated series earned instant praise for its handling of surprisingly mature storytelling broken down into its simplest terms for kids. Despite its episodic structure, the individual pieces added up to an even greater whole, rivaling many serialized formats for adults that had already begun popping up with increasing frequency at the time. And in stark contrast to the world-ending stakes and century-long war providing a backdrop to the action, the show never once lost sight of its most important aspect of all: having fun every step of the way.

"Do you wish death upon her?" "Not tomorrow..." Vertical has revealed the official trailer for an indie film titled American Dreamer, now set for release in March this year. This film originally premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival a few years ago, and has been stuck in release limbo ever since. Which is not a good sign. "What do we need to be happy? What do we want? And ultimately - how far are we willing to go, to get it?" Economics professor Phillip Loder poses these questions to his grad students as he ponders these thoughts. Phil is a twice-divorced, frustrated, underpaid professor, as well as an aspiring novelist, clamoring for bigger, better things in his life. He finds a hard-to-believe good deal on a masnion estate and jumps at the offer, hoping he'll strike it rich – only to quickly realize it really is too good to be true.

As much as they've become a go-to option, revivals and legacy sequels tend to have a pretty significant roadblock working against them. The more time goes by, the harder it gets to justify bringing back the same cast to relive their glory days without it feeling ... kind of sad, actually. It's like that one guy everyone knows who peaked during his high school or college years and hasn't been able to move past it ever since. That takes on an added layer of relevance (and potential awkwardness) with the much-hyped "Community" spin-off movie, which has tasked original series creator Dan Harmon with figuring out how to make this continuation live up to expectations. Given the fact that the entire point of the comedy was the ridiculousness of having these characters together in the world's worst community college, well, maybe that's exactly what makes the movie worth doing.
