- The nephew of Oscar-nominated (One Touch of Venus) Hollywood Production Designer/Art Director Emrich "Nick" Nicholson. Oakley took his first training in art under Nick's guidance at an early age of 11.
- Oakley honed his skills for 2 year under the leadership of 2 time Oscar Winner Production Designer/Art Director Henry "Bummy" Bumstead. Bummy was best known for his work with Clint Eastwood, however Bummy had over a 100 films to his credit.
- Once danced on The Lawrence Welk Show for the taping of their 1974 Hawaii special.
- A classmate of actor Dan Gunther, both had first jobs together as paperboys and at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor during their elementary & high school years.
- For 7 years, Oakley worked as an art director and fine-tuned his design skills under the leadership of Doug Offenbacher. Doug is considered the godfather of Northern California design.
- Oakley is the author of two critically acclaimed children's books -"The Tent" and "Life As A Child". Tim also penned the best-selling photo surf journals: "The History Of Sixties Longboarding" and "The Maverick Men Of Pillar Point".
- Tim is an accomplished airbrush artist and pinstriper, and has helped in the customization of many show cars & custom cycles - both nationally & internationally.
- Worked for Peanuts cartoonist Charles M. Shultz in Santa Rosa, CA (1977-1979). Collects original hand drawn artwork and sketches from world-renown designers, cartoonist and artists. Tim personal collection includes original sketches and title cards from Saul Bass, Mad comic illustrators David Berg, Mort Drucker & Don Martin, and original Charles M. Shultz Peanuts strips to name a few.
- Learned archery at the age of 7 to help combat equilibrium. By 28 was one of only 19 long bow artist's worldwide to master the "quick-sling" technique. Tim's personal record is 39 in 60 seconds at 300 feet.
- An avid big wave rider. Favorite spots: Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and Mavericks.
- Was adopted at the age of 5.
