Florian got some bad news about Roman..
As I said last week, I can’t bring the clips of this storyline to you, but I did want to discuss it as it's an important arc for one of the most beloved TV gay couples. To begin, to my surprise, I’m really enjoying this storyline. Last week’s episodes detailing Roman's impending doom were terrific. The writing for this story has been unusually strong for this generally fluffy soap, and the acting is outstanding, especially by Igor Dolsgatschew, who plays Deniz.
The scene where Deniz begged Roman to tell Florian about his illness and then talked about his own feelings about losing the man he loves had me misting up as much as the actor. Dennis Grabosch as Roman was good, but I was really taken by his co-star's work. Dolsgatschew has...

Emmerdale newcomer Chris Bisson has revealed that he is impressed by the soap's ongoing revamp. The actor, who makes his debut as Jai Sharma this week, admitted that he is excited to be part of series producer Gavin Blyth's vision for the show's future. In June, Blyth promised to make a number of "slow-burn" changes to the Yorkshire-based drama in an attempt to increase its appeal to viewers. He joined the programme in January following the departure of predecessor Anita Turner. Speaking to Digital Spy, Bisson commented: "It's great to be part of a new show. You've got new characters coming (more)...

Last week, I asked whether you were happy that Emmerdale's Lexi King - played by Sally Oliver - had been written out of the rural ITV drama. The majority of those who voted (50.6%) said that they were disappointed she'd disappeared as she was just coming into her own. I have to say I agree - her final episode was amazing and in the lead up to her exit, Sally was really starting to 'own' her character. Meanwhile, 35.5% thought Lexi had run her course in the village and the remaining 13.9% of voters opted for the 'I'm indifferent' option. Apparently, the proverbial door's been left wide open by series producer Gavin Blyth for Sally to return at any point she likes. So, moving onto this week's vote, in which I ask: Was Hollyoaks' Ste/Abi/Daniel plot an anti-climax? Would you believe that the Abi/Daniel/Ste story (more)...

Former Cutting It actress Siân Reeves has joined the cast of Emmerdale for a six-month stint. The 44-year-old, who played Sydney Henshall in the BBC salon drama, will take on the role of Sally Spode, an old love interest of Ashley Thomas (John Middleton). Ashley's wife Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy), however, takes an immediate disliking to her. Of her casting, Reeves said: "Sally was Ashley's first love and he is a bit unnerved to see her in the village. I'm delighted to be joining such a celebrated show and looking forward to filming my first scenes."

Emmerdale's leading producer Gavin Blyth has teased about how the rural soap's original superbitch Charity Tate will make her eagerly-anticipated comeback. Blyth, who took office at Emmerdale at the beginning of the year, sparked a period of rejuvenation at the ailing soap in a bid to take it back to its best. As part of the overhaul, he successfully persuaded Emma Atkins to reprise her role as former prostitute Charity later this year to coincide with the soap's relaunch in October. In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Blyth said of her return: "[Charity makes her comeback] in dramatic fashion! Obviously I can't say too much - all I can say is the anticipation will be worth the wait. There's a lot of unfinished business, she's got a lot of baggage still. And Charity has Noah, too. Yes she still has him! She hasn't (more)...

Emmerdale boss Gavin Blyth has explained his ongoing revamp plans to drive the Yorkshire soap back to its best and has urged viewers to "stick with it" as changes are afoot. Blyth, a former assistant producer at Coronation Street, joined the ranks of Emmerdale as series producer in January following the abrupt departure of his predecessor Anita Turner. Since taking the helm, he has made a number of changes to both the cast and production teams in the hope of once again serving "talked-about TV" to the great British public. Blyth's castings have included James Sutton as Ryan Lamb, his screen mother Kim Thomson (Faye Lamb), UK soap's first blind actress Kitty McGeever (Lizzie Lakely) and entirely new and modern five-part farming family, the Bartons. He has also secured the as-yet-unseen return of Emma Atkins as Charity Tate. Departures (more)...

Three Emmerdale characters are to bow out of the show later this year. Tony Haygarth and Lewis Linford - who play farmhand Mick Naylor and his gamekeeper grandson Lee Naylor respectively - are to finish filming within the next couple of months as their characters have 'had their day'. James Baxter's character Jake Doland is also being written out of the rural drama and all three will remain on screen until early summer. Speaking to Soaplife, the show's series producer Gavin Blyth said: "Every character has their time in the show, some longer than others." When originally cast, producers reportedly intended for the Naylors to become the show's new "farming dynasty", following in the footsteps of the Sugdens in a bid to "take the show back to its farming roots". Blyth also hinted that death will (more)...

Emmerdale returnee Jeff Hordley has revealed that there is currently a "great buzz" on set as the show continues its period of rejuvenation. The 39-year-old, who returns to screens next week as bad boy Cain Dingle, was the first former character to be drafted back into the soap as part of its major overhaul. Speaking to Digital Spy, Hordley said: "With Emmerdale in the hands of Steve Frost again and, of course, Gavin Blyth, they both care about the show massively and know it inside out. It's hopefully going to be a return to form and the good old days." He added: It's a very big, positive thing and there's a great buzz and atmosphere around here at the moment." Since (more)...

Getting To Know … Shameless
The love life of gay teenager Ian Gallagher (Gerard Kearns) on the U.K. series Shameless has never been easy. Whether it’s having to steal a bed just so he can have sex with his hot new boyfriend (somehow landing in prison because of it), trying to keep his ongoing affair with a married man a secret, or that fling with a homophobic drug dealer who has a strange sexual quirk (big surprise), something always comes along to make finding love (or just getting laid) a trying ordeal for poor Ian.
