The Crimson Petal And The White premiered with more than 2.2 million on Wednesday evening, but live football owned primetime, the latest audience data has revealed. The four-part psychological thriller, starring Chris O'Dowd, Gillian Anderson and Richard E. Grant, averaged 2.14m (8.5%) for BBC Two in the 9pm hour, while 91k (0.4%) watched on the BBC HD channel. However, primetime was dominated by live coverage of Manchester United's victory against Chelsea in the Champions League, which pulled in 7.68m (32.2%) on ITV1 between 7.30pm and 10pm. On BBC One, The Boat That Guy Built entertained 4.29m (20.9%) from 7.30pm, before Waterloo Road drew 4.14m (17.1%) in the 8pm hour. James Perry became the latest contestant to be eliminated from MasterChef tonight. The carpenter failed to make it into the top four after cooking for a panel of food critics. Speaking to Digital Spy, Perry admitted that it was "gutting" to leave the competition. Blaming his choice of menu for his elimination, he explained: "It was a silly, silly mistake of a menu.
