Feisty Warner Bros presentation promotes Joker, It: Chapter Two, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, The Kitchen.
Helen Mirren brought the house down at CinemaCon when she told exhibitors during Warner Bros’ presentation, “I love Netflix, but fuck Netflix,” on Tuesday evening (April 2).
The veteran UK actress had taken to the stage at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace to talk up Bill Condon’s online dating service thriller The Good Liar, in which she stars opposite Ian McKellen.
“There’s nothing like sitting in a cinema,” Mirren said after delivering her show-stopping remark in her trademark cut-glass English accent. “The lights go down.

The violent cat and mouse duo are headed for a live action hybrid ‘toon, as a new Tom & Jerry movie is in the works.
While Disney is busy turning every one of its old animated classics into live action movies, Warner Bros is starting to mine its own ’toon archives for possible film adaptation ideas – with a Wile E. Coyote movie and a Space Jam sequel both now in the works. Next up on the reboot list is Hanna Barbera’s Tom and Jerry – the heart-warming tale of a cat and a mouse who have spent almost 80 years trying to kill each other.
Expected to blend live-action with CG animation, Variety reports that the new Tom and Jerry movie will be directed by Tim Story and the two leads will, thankfully, both stay silent.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Tim Story is in talks to make a live-action Tom And Jerry movie for Warner Bros.—and by “live-action” we assume it means “CG cat and CG mouse.” We don’t know anything else about this movie, but seeing as how it’s based on the old Tom And Jerry cartoons, we can assume it’ll…...

In times past, left-handedness in a person was seen as a marker for evil, and a general predisposition towards criminal activities. It was even said that witches cast spells and placed curses with their left hand.
Thankfully, those beliefs have, for the most part, been left where they belong -- in the past. It's a miracle how people's misconceptions about left-handedness changed over time without some significant enlightenment period; surely there had to have been an underground PR push, right?

It seemed innocent when we were kids, but now “Tom and Jerry” is under fire for possibly being racist. The classic cat and mouse cartoon from the 1940s is coming with a warning on Amazon Prime Instant, saying that the animated series may contain scenes of “ethnic and racial prejudice.” “Tom and Jerry shorts may depict some ethnic and racial prejudices that were once commonplace in American society,” the disclaimer states. “Such depictions were wrong then and are wrong today.” Amazon has not yet responded to TheWrap's request for comment.
