Marriage is hard.
It's true in 2019, It's true in 2019, and it was true in the 1980s and the 1960s.
Why Women Kill, the new CBS All Access series premiering on August 15 lays it all out in vivid detail.
Devious Maids and Desperate Housewives alum Mark Cherry created the new series.

Arrested Development may not be a musical per se, like Smash or Glee, but it’s certainly contributed its share of catchy, earworm-y tunes to the pop culture landscape. What Bluth supporter doesn’t know the chorus to “It Ain’t Easy Being White” from Franklin Comes Alive? Or immediately think of Mark Cherry’s “Getaway” when they see the […]...

Varèse Sarabande Records will release "At Long Last...Music and Songs From Arrested Development" on November 19th, a 42-track soundtrack made up of songs from all four seasons of Mitchell Hurwitz's cult favorite comedy. The music's the work of composer David Schwartz, and as he explains, "Because of fan demand, a majority of the album is weighted toward the songs. Most of the songs composed for the show came together organically, but quite often Mitch would call me up requesting one and float some lyrics by me while he was driving. When it comes to the humor and parody of the songs, Mitch has a great deal of trust in the show's super smart fans. He never wants any musical reference to be too obvious." Among the highlights: The Dr. Fünke's 100% Natural Good-Time Family Band Solution track "Temocil," Gob and Franklin duet "It Ain't Easy Being White" and, of course,...

The fourth season of Arrested Development is still reverberating through the halls — and, hey, they even just announced the possibility of a fifth season — so we're going to trudge along with yet another post full of Easter eggs and callbacks you might have missed. We're up to episodes seven and eight. Did you happen to miss our thorough examinations of episodes one through six? Here you go. And here we go ... Episode 7, "Colony Collapse" Tagging along as a member of Mark Cherry's posse, G.O.B. rolls up in front of one of L.A.'s hottest clubs, "and Jeremy Piven," a nod to the opening credits of Entourage. And Jeremy Piven himself also got the joke, apparently. This isn't the first time G.O.B. has made a major announcement on a talk show. If you squint, you can see that Tony Wonder's spread in Attitude (the same...

The insipid refrain of "Getaway" colonized your brain a little more than a month ago, when Arrested Development returned and Gob Bluth found himself on the fringe of an entourage lead by a Justin Bieber doppelganger known as Mark Cherry. (Not Marc Cherry. No.) The flippy-haired pop star's claim to fame is the oh-so-ring-toneable jam now available in an almost minute-long version. Play it at your Fourth of July barbecue, perhaps.

Soon, there will be more than 24 seconds of the Arrested Development song, “Getaway.” TV Guide reports that there’s an Arrested Development soundtrack that’s sending Gabriel Mann back to the studio (yes, that Gabriel Mann from Revenge, he’s the singing voice of Mark Cherry) to co-write and perform a full-length version of the song. The soundtrack will likely also include a medley of songs from the Fantastic Four musical and the power-anthem “Balls in the Air”.

There are a bunch of pilots getting a second chance but the most disappointing rejection was the untitled pilot starring and written by John Mullaney. Reports said the pilot was really good, plus it starred Ellott Gould as Mullaney’s gay neighbor, so it helps make up for all the gay representation we lost this season. Murder and mayhem mix as the class divide between the wealthy elite and close-knit group of maids working for the rich collides. Sex, secrets and murder combine with a fun outlandish tone that's sure to make Devious Maids the new guilty pleasure of the summer.
I recently spoke on the phone with Rebecca Wisocky about her character Evelyn Powell, a haughty member of high society Beverly Hills, and the employer of a murdered maid that sets the series in motion.
The actress enthusiastically dished on her "delicious" character, the fun, over the top tone of the season and what's in store for Lifetime's new show.

This article contains spoilers for the fourth season of Arrested Development.
It was always going to divide opinion. Let's face it, classic sitcoms aren't revived every day, and the build-up to Arrested Development's return from TV limbo fostered ridiculously high expectations. No showrunner could ever hope to please all of the fans, all of the time. Unsurprisingly, reviews have been mixed. Some praised the continuing audacity of Ad's plotting, the multi-layered references and the depth of the characterisation. Others criticised the immoderate length of some episodes, while lamenting the absence of several key cast members for long stretches.
Yet for all that, Arrested Development's fourth season was perhaps its most accomplished to date. Okay, some elements didn't quite work. Yes, the longer episode length proved to be problematic.

Arrested Development made a name for itself not only for its smart humor, but also its ability to work in callbacks both blatant and with a bit more subtlety.
Gob’s Arrested Development, "Colony Collapse," was an exercise in both, as well as a healthy dose of running gags. We run it down below in our continuing 15 Days of Arrested Development Season 4 on TV Fanatic...
As with almost every other show, especially comedies, to truly appreciate certain aspects one must be familiar with the people behind the camera. Right off the bat with this episode we meet the baby-faced popstar Mark Cherry who would be a little shoutout to Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry who has worked together with Mitch Hurwitz on various projects through the years. That reference, and the mention of Modern Family, alludes to Hurwitz once saying that he feels Modern Family is a broad reaching, more...

More in-depth analyses of the new episodes will appear in the coming weeks. Last we left Tobias, his never-ending unintentional creepiness landed him on John Beard’s To Entrap a Local Predator. Now Tobias is working at Lucille 2’s Austerity, a rehab clinic attended by pop sensation Mark Cherry as well as by Tobias’s recent fling, DeBrie. Tobias’s latest prison stint has finally taught him the exact right way to combine the words analyst and therapist. Ron Howard’s “we don't have to hear this again” during the Tobias catch-up clip is a great wink at the fact this is on Netflix and we can rewind and come back in less than a minute if we feel the need to catch ourselves up.Argyle Austero, played by...

More in-depth analyses of the new episodes will appear in the coming weeks. There are plenty of wild cards on Arrested Development, but none wilder than Will Arnett's Gob Bluth. While you never know what ridiculous path Tobias will take, you know his endgame is to become an actor. You can’t be sure what Buster will stumble into next, or how he’ll land back in the hospital, but you know he’ll wind up close to Lucille. With Gob, no one knows anything. Bees. Bananagrabbers. Black puppets. Gob’s unpredictability means it makes perfect sense for his episode to open with an Entourage homage blatant enough to feature the crew walking into a Jeremy Piven–owned and/or –themed club. Gob is now rolling with Mark Cherry — the baby-faced,...

New York — Eva Longoria hasn't slowed down since "Desperate Housewives" signed off after eight seasons last year. In fact, the actress says the word "lazy" isn't in her vocabulary.
"There are days when I relax but it won't be a full day. It usually means I'm gonna clean out my closet. That's relaxing for me. Or I'm gonna cook a full meal for my family and friends," Longoria, who will be 38 on Friday, said in a recent interview.
Longoria said she has no problem juggling various projects.
"I always say there's more time in the day than you think. You waste a lot of time that you don't realize," she said. "When I was on `Desperate Housewives,' I learned two languages. I went back to school for my master's degree, I was married (to San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker) and flying back and forth (between Los Angeles and Texas). You have time.

After getting the shaft from ABC, Marc Cherry's "Devious Maids" has officially been picked up by Lifetime!
"We are glad the show has found a home," star Ana Ortiz told The Huffington Post exclusively via email this afternoon. "It is going to be such a thrill to work alongside these Devious Divas," she added.
Ortiz says she's not the only one who's excited about the Lifetime pick-up--Marc Cherry is, too. "Marc seems excited about the partnership with Lifetime. I think he has a lot of wickedness up his creative sleeve...so fun!" she wrote.
Based on a Mexican telenovela format, “Devious Maids” follows four maids who work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills, but have ambitions and dreams of their own. The show stars Ortiz (“Ugly Betty”), Dania Ramirez (“Heroes”), Roselyn Sanchez (“Without A Trace”) and Judy Reyes (“Scrubs”), and is co-executive produced by Mark Cherry and Eva Longoria.

Closing arguments will be heard Wednesday morning in Nicollette Sheridan's $6 million wrongful termination suit against ABC, with the case likely to go to the jury in the afternoon. Earlier Tuesday, Judge White issued a directed verdict dismissing the battery charge portion of Sheridan's case against the show's creator Mark Cherry. She said Sheridan's claims did not meet the...

Next week the major broadcast networks will officially present their fall schedules. ABC today announced its pick-ups and cancellations. The news is bad for alien invaders and Gothic authors. The news is good, however, for fairy tales and the Paranormal Activity guy.
Much to the great sadness of Uncle Creepy and The Woman in Black, ABC has pulled the plug on alien invasion series “V”, which is not surprising given the show has floundered ever since its highly rated premiere episode. Ditto the superhero family series “No Ordinary Family”.
Also dead at the network owned by the House of Mouse is “Brothers & Sisters”, which, while not actually a supernatural program, seemed to be a show that would not die and has frequently inspired comments from a co-worker that Sally Field is actually a zombie and Calista Flockhart intentionally keeps herself super skinny so that there won’t be enough meat...

ABC’s executives are picking up six drama pilots, including Mark Cherry’s Hallelujah, Mark Gordon’s Identity and Once Upon a Time, Edward Kitsis/Adam Horowitz’s Lost. Also on ABC’s slate are Oren Peli/Steven Spielberg’s The River, co-produced by DreamWorks TV, Darren Star’s Good Christian Bitches and Revenge co-produced by Twilight producer Temple Hill.
It looks like ABC is in the way to be good again, gathering ideas from producers who’ve led them to success in the past.
“Hallelujah,” gives the impression of being a small town version of Cherry’s Desperate Housewives hit and ABC programming chief Paul Lee was quickly moved it with a pilot order. “Hallelujah” takes place in the town of Hallelujah, Tenn., which is seriously damaged by the forces of good and evil. Its fortunes change when a stranger comes to town, bringing justice, peace and possibility of keeping the faith and hope.
