He began his cinematical career as a director of the movie "Miss Sarah Sampson" (19). In the next years followed other movies he directed too.
Adolf Abter was married with the singer Cilly Lasary.
When he fled to France he was arrested and brought to the detention camp Drancy. It followed the deportation to the KZ Auschwitz Birkenau where he was murdered shortly afterwards.
Before he became active in the film business he worked as a freelance writer and he wrote articles for the "Filmkurier" and for the "Hamburger Mittagsblatt".
To some of these movies he also wrote the screenplay and was responsible as a producer.
