- Claude Nobs was born on February 8, 1936 in Montreux, Switzerland. He was a producer and director, known for Talk Talk: Live at Montreux 1986 (2008), Rory Gallagher: Live at Montreux (2006) and Carlos Santana: Presents Blues at Montreux 2004 (2006). He died on January 10, 2013 in Lausanne, Switzerland.
- On the live Jethro Tull album "Bursting Out" (recorded May 28, 1978 in Berne), one can hear Nobs announcing "...herzlich willkommen in der Festhalle Bern !" (Welcome to the Festhall of Berne).
- Founder of the famous Montreux Jazz Festival.
- In the Deep Purple song "Smoke on the Water" he's referred to as "Funky Claude" for his heroic actions of saving some spectators from a casino fire at Montreux, Switzerland (December 4, 1971).
