Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from “With So Little to Be Sure Of,” the sixth episode of the final season of ABC’s “Station 19.”
Boris Kodjoe is ready to start his next chapter. Since wrapping production last month on the final season of ABC’s venerable firefighter drama “Station 19,” the 51-year-old actor — who rose to fame in the early aughts in the Showtime drama “Soul Food” — has set his sights on broadening his horizons.
Chief among them is working more behind the camera. After directing his wife (and former “Soul Food” costar) Nicole Ari Parker in the Lifetime movie “Safe Room,” Kodjoe expressed an interest in helming an episode of “Station 19,” and his wish was granted midway through the show’s final 10-episode run. It was the ideal training ground for Kodjoe, whose exacting nature earned him a special nickname on set.

After the success of One Chicago, a franchise co-produced by Wolf Entertainment and NBCUniversal that began with the firefighting procedural Chicago Fire and expanded into several spinoffs, ABC also decided to try its hand at franchising.
In partnership with Shondaland, the network turned Grey's Anatomy into a TV franchise, first with the spinoff Private Practice, also a medical drama, and then with the action-drama Station 19, which, like Chicago Fire, follows the employees of a fictional fire station as they navigate their personal and professional lives. The only difference is that the action moves from Chicago to Seattle, and the plot is much more action-packed and thrilling.
And so, Station 19 has been coming to the small screens of ABC viewers for six full years now. In addition, Season 7, as announced last December, is the final one, so we don't have many episodes left. At the same time, of course,...

Uncoupled will not be returning for a second season after all. After releasing the first season of eight episodes in July 2022, Netflix cancelled the relationship comedy series in January 2023, despite it being a Top 10 show. Showtime picked up the series for a second season in February but has now cancelled those plans.
Neil Patrick Harris, Tuc Watkins, Tisha Campbell, Marcia Gay Harden, Emerson Brooks, and Brooks Ashmanskas star in the series, which follows successful real estate broker Michael Lawson (Harris) as he returns to the dating world after his partner of 17 years breaks up with him.

Showtime won’t be coming to Uncoupled‘s rescue after all. The cabler has opted not to move forward with a second season of Neil Patrick Harris’ divorce comedy, which it previously saved after it was first canceled by Netflix, our sister site Deadline reports.

Exclusive: Uncoupled is not getting saved after all. Showtime has decided not to proceed with Season 2 of the comedy series, from Emily in Paris creator Darren Star and Modern Family veteran Jeffrey Richman, Deadline has learned. A rep for the network could not be reached for comment.

Uncoupled has found a new home following its cancellation on Netflix.
Deadline reported Friday that the Neil Patrick Harris comedy had scored a surprise pickup at Showtime.
The news comes amid a strategic shift at the premium cabler, which recently announced plans to become Paramount+ with Showtime.
As a result, much of the network's content is set to change.
Showtime canceled American Gigolo, Let the Right One In, and the new drama Three Women (despite never airing a single episode).
Several ended shows were also purged in the process, with shows like Kidding removed entirely.
It's unclear whether the purged shows will return somewhere else down the line.
Showtime also recently announced plans to expand the Dexter and Billions franchises.
As many as four spinoffs of the latter are in the works -- including Millions and Trillions.
For Dexter, we're getting a prequel called Dexter: Origin, a second chapter of Dexter: New Blood,...

In the type of trade you’d expect see in the NFL, Netflix and Showtime performed an unexpected show swap this Friday. Netflix’s “Uncoupled” has been picked up from cancellation by Showtime and will return for Season 2 at the channel, while Showtime’s unaired “Ripley” will now premiere on Netflix.
Now, Netflix and Showtime didn’t literally trade the shows for each other, but negotiations for the placement of both shows were apparently occurring parallel to each other, with news happening to break on the same day. “Ripley,” which was first ordered to series in September 2019 and stars Andrew Scott, has reportedly begun post-production on its eight-episode season. “Uncoupled” starring Neil Patrick Harris premiered its first season last July, and was canceled by Netflix last month.
Sources at Netflix confirmed to IndieWire that “Ripley” will premiere on the streamer. Sources at Showtime confirmed to IndieWire that “Uncoupled” has been picked up at the network.

“Uncoupled,” the romantic dramedy starring Neil Patrick Harris, has been revived by Showtime after being axed by Netflix last month in yet another move indicative of the premium network’s new strategy for original series.
News of the move comes after it was announced earlier on Friday that “Ripley,” the highly anticipated drama starring Andrew Scott, was in the final stages of moving to Netflix. Also recently, the completed first season of “Three Women,” with Shailene Woodley, was being eyed for a pickup at Starz after Showtime pulled the plug.

Turns out it’s not the end of the road for “Uncoupled.” The romantic dramedy starring Neil Patrick Harris has been picked up by Showtime for Season 2 after Netflix canceled the series.
Coming from “Emily in Paris” creator Darren Star and Jeffrey Richman (“Modern Family”), the series centers on Michael, a New York City real estate broker who, after his boyfriend abruptly breaks up with him and moves out of their shared home, faces the prospect of starting over in his 40s. Starr, Richman, Harris, and Lilly Burns serve as executive producers on the series. MTV Entertainment Studios produces along with Darren Star Productions, Jeffrey Richman Productions, and Jax Media.
The series premiered in full on the streaming service on July 29 of last year to strong reviews and managed a 73 Rotten Tomatoes critical approval rating.

Exclusive: Uncoupled, has been saved. I hear Showtime is picking up Season 2 (and potentially beyond) of the comedy series, from Emily in Paris creator Darren Star and Modern Family veteran Jeffrey Richman, a couple weeks after the MTV Entertainment Studios-produced show was canceled by Netflix. Uncoupled has been cancelled by Netflix after just one season.
The series stars Neil Patrick Harris as a man who must suddenly navigate life as a gay bachelor in his forties after his partner of 17 years suddenly walks out on him.
Alongside Harris, the series starred Tuc Watkins, Tisha Campbell, Brooks Ashmanskas, Emerson Brooks, and Marcia Gay Harden.
Uncoupled premiered back in July 2022, receiving generally positive reviews. In a three-star write-up for The Independent, Amanda Whiting wrote that the series’ jokes “feel like stabs at relevance that have already started going stale”.
When it was released, the series only stayed in Netflix’s Top 10 Most Watched chart for a week, leading many to speculate that a cancellation was forthcoming.
Now, Variety reports that the series has been cancelled by the streaming service.
Fans have shared their disappointment with the news on social media.

Viewers won't be getting any resolution to Michael's quest for love... or any of the other soapy twists from the finale of Uncoupled.
Netflix has officially canceled the Neil Patrick Harris comedy almost six months after its series premiere on the streaming service.

"But when Colin unexpectedly moves out on the eve of his 50th birthday, Michael is completely blindsided," Netflix teases.
"Overnight, he has to confront two nightmares: losing the man he thought was his soulmate, and suddenly finding himself a single gay man in his mid-forties in New York City."

The streamer has to decided to cancel Darren Star and Jeremy Richman’s rom-com series after one season, which premiered on July 29, 2022. Neil Patrick Harris‘ quest for love has reached an early conclusion. Netflix has cancelled Uncoupled after just one season, TVLine has confirmed.
Uncoupled followed Nph as New York City real estate agent Michael Lawson, who suddenly found himself single after being unceremoniously dumped by longtime boyfriend Colin McKenna. The comedy’s eight-episode first (and only) season ended with Colin returning to their apartment and telling Michael that he made a huge “mistake.”

Along with Harris, the cast of the series also included Tuc Watkins, Tisha Campbell, Brooks Ashmanskas, Emerson Brooks, and Marcia Gay Harden. Starr, Richman, and Harris all served as executive producers along with Lilly Burns. MTV Entertainment Studios produces along with Darren Star Productions, Jeffrey Richman Productions, and Jax Media.

Netflix is not proceeding with a second season of Uncoupled, its comedy series from Emily in Paris creator Darren Star and Modern Family veteran Jeffrey Richman.
The cancellation is not surprising. The series, starring Neil Patrick Harris, barely registered on Netflix’s weekly Top 10 rankings, making a single appearance at #6 following its July 29 release. (Half-hour series are at a disadvantage in the ratings system employed by Netflix which measures hours viewed.)
Speculation that Uncoupled would not be continue at Netflix started late last year when sources indicated that there was an effort by series producer MTV Entertainment Studios to find a new home. The plan to move the series to a Paramount Global network, possibly Showtime, fall through, I hear.
Meanwhile, Netflix remains in business with Star as his comedy Emily in Paris continues to deliver big audiences, with its current third season making the Netflix Top 10 in 93 countries. The...

Summer has ended, and school is in session as Quinta Brunson and Abbott Elementary taught a masterclass at the 6th Annual Black Reel TV Awards presented by idobi.
Brunson and her freshman comedy, Abbott Elementary proved that it’s just simple math as they racked up seven wins at this year’s Black Reel Television Awards. She won four awards on her own as she received Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series for Abbott Elementary and Outstanding Guest Actress for A Black Lady Sketch Show. Brunson triumphed in a surprise upset of the comedy actress category over Issa Rae, the sentimental favorite, in her farewell season of Insecure.
While Glover led the pack in individual nominations with five, he was able to take home one win for Outstanding Actor, Comedy Series for Atlanta.

Neil Patrick Harris is showing a side of himself that we’ve never seen before.
In Darren Star and Jeffrey Richman’s new Netflix series “Uncoupled,” Harris stars as Michael, a gay New York real estate agent whose partner of 17 years Colin (Tuc Watkins) leaves him.
As Michael navigates dating again, stories of love, heartbreak, middle-age and unexpected sexual encounters unfold.
Harris is seen in various states of undress. In fact, the actor has his first on-camera gay sex scene on “Uncoupled,” with “Sex and the City” movie alum Gilles Marini.
“We did make out in that first scene and then between takes he goes, ‘Oh it is true? It is true what they say?’” Harris recalls. “And I said, ‘What do they say?’ And he goes, ‘I heard that it is better kissing another man than a woman and I can see this now. It is true what they say.

If you’ve seen the first episode of Netflix’s Uncoupled, you probably have a lot of feelings about Colin. (And if you haven’t seen the premiere, go stream it now before you get spoiled!)
Played by Tuc Watkins, Colin is presented to viewers as a necessary evil. He’s the seemingly heartless monster who dumps Michael (Neil Patrick Harris), his boyfriend of 17 years, mere seconds before entering what turns out to be his own surprise 50th birthday party. Judging by the lovingly orchestrated event, it’s obvious that Michael had no idea a split was on the horizon,...

No offense to all the Carries and Charlottes out there, but Uncoupled is so very much the 40-plus New York rom-com confection that And Just Like That.. was supposed to be. And don’t worry, no Samanthas were harmed in the making of it. The frothy, frisky fun centers on Neil Patrick Harris‘ Michael, a trim and puckish Manhattan realtor who is unceremoniously dumped by Colin (Tuc Watkins), his partner of 17 years — right before the surprise 50th party Michael is throwing for him! From there, our non-hetero hero is thrust back into the world of dating and debating if he is even ready to try again, especially now that the terrain is littered with hookup apps, throuples and very scary selfies. Meanwhile, his pals — including artsy, self-conscious Stanley (Brooks Ashmanskas), bed-hopper Billy (Emerson Brooks), real-estate partner Suzanne (Tisha Campbell) and haughty new client Claire (Marcia Gay Harden)—alternately play Cupid,...

Let’s get the “Sex and the City” comparisons out of the way quickly, shall we? Co-created by “Satc” mastermind Darren Star and Jeffrey Richman (“Modern Family”), “Uncoupled” — the new eight-episode Netflix series headlined by the immensely appealing Neil Patrick Harris, returning to sitcoms nearly a decade after nine seasons as the suit-wearing, womanizing Barney Stinson on “How I Met Your Mother” — centers on the romantic escapades of the emotionally messy but impeccably dressed Michael (Harris) and his trio of closest friends. That includes single mother and straight talker Suzanne (sitcom vet Tisha Campbell), Michael’s partner in the multimillion-dollar Manhattan residential real estate biz; the sex-obsessed Billy (Emerson Brooks), a TV weatherman who never met a younger man he didn’t like; and self-deprecating art dealer Stanley, who’s so highbrow he sends a naked pen-and-ink sketch to potential hookups. Shades of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte, yes? And just like “Satc,...

On July 29, 2022, Netflix released “Uncoupled” starring Emmy winner Neil Patrick Harris. The eight-episode comedy was created and written by Jeffrey Richman (“Modern Family,” “Desperate Housewives”) and Darren Star, and follows a real estate agent named Michael (Harris) who finds himself starting over after being dumped by his boyfriend. What is it like to be a newly single gay man navigating the dating scene for the first time in 17 years?
The buzz-worthy show co-stars Tisha Campbell, Emerson Brooks, Brooks Ashmanskas and Marcia Gay Harden. It is certified fresh with a 67 on Rotten Tomatoes, but what exactly do the critics think?
Bob Strauss of the San Francisco Chronicle opens with an especially strong “Don’t start a relationship with ‘Uncoupled’ unless you’re willing to stick it out.” He continues, “Some worthwhile emotional truths get delivered over the series’ eight episodes, though often with one-liners that can seem paragraphs long.” He especially praises the casting of Harris,...

Darren Star has been telling tales about people thrown out of their comfort zone masked as rom-coms for years, and Uncoupled follows the same framework as prior hits like Younger and Emily in Paris.
The new comedy, premiering Friday, July 29 on Netflix, has an excellent cast and some funny one-liners, but it is very predictable.
Neil Patrick Harris plays Michael, a Manhattanite whose world implodes when his boyfriend of 17 years moves out of their apartment, determined for a new start that doesn't involve him.
It's tricky subject matter to handle, but Michael's journey is infused with humor and awkward moments as he tries to get over the breakup and return to the dating scene as a 40-year-old with no idea how much it's changed.
On Younger, Liza is a fish out of water as she plays a forty-something trying to pass as a twenty-something. On Emily in Paris, Emily is...

Darren Star has, in recent years, had a Netflix success with “Emily in Paris” — a show that, depending on your vantage point, is either a death knell for TV comedy or a sunnily surface-level jaunt whose idle pleasures are just that. Star, the creator of “Sex and the City” and “Melrose Place,” has a gift for skating the viewer across smoothly luxurious settings.
Which may be the problem, or one of them, with his latest series for Netflix, which he created with Jeffrey Richman. “Uncoupled” features Neil Patrick Harris as Michael Lawson, an haute-Manhattan real-estate agent whose long-term relationship, to a character played by Tuc Watkins, falls apart before Michael even knows it’s broken. Uncoupled Review: Neil Patrick Harris Exposes Himself (Emotionally) in Netflix's Gay Romantic Comedy
Neil Patrick Harris spent nine seasons playing charming womanizer Barney Stinson on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, and in his new Netflix comedy Uncoupled, his character Michael also wears nice suits and lives in New York City. But in other ways, Michael is the complete opposite of Barney: a mild-mannered gay man who has been happily coupled up with his boyfriend for the past 17 years. That happiness all comes crashing down, though, and Uncoupled — premiering this Friday; I’ve seen five of the eight episodes — is a mildly enjoyable, surprisingly dramatic look at Michael’s new life as a...

Midway through the first season of Uncoupled, Michael (Neil Patrick Harris) explodes with frustration after yet another promising hookup turns disastrous. “I’m not supposed to be here,” he yells at his perplexed date. “I’m not supposed to know about Botoxed buttholes, and PrEP, and no condoms. I am supposed to be sitting on my couch, watching TV while my boyfriend is chewing way too loud beside me. That is the world I want.”
In part, Michael’s reaction stems from personal heartache, having recently been dumped by his partner of 17 years. But he’s equally struggling with re-entering a scene he simply doesn’t get anymore — one in which even meeting guys at clubs, like he and Colin (Tuc Watkins) once did, involves connecting with them first on Grindr. Uncoupled, from creators Darren Star and Jeffrey Richman, is aimed squarely at the Michaels of the world.

Star and Richman conceived Uncoupled after several real-life long-term relationships they knew of “imploded in a very specific way. One of the best parts about tuning in to ABC's Queens is witnessing rapper Eve return to her roots. After all, the musical drama series follows a legendary female hip-hop group (aka the Nasty B*tches) trying to reclaim their throne. However, following the exciting news that Eve and her husband, Maximillion Cooper, are expecting their first child in February, Queens fans are wondering about the rapper's future on the show. According to Deadline, Eve filmed several scenes before taking maternity leave, allowing her to appear in most of season one, which premiered in October 2021.
As for her character Brianna's storyline, there will be an open-exit, making a return seamless and possible if Queens gets picked up for a second season. In the midseason finale on Dec. 12, we learn that Brianna is in critical condition after being shot by a masked gunman, who's later revealed as Jill's (Naturi Naughton) ex-husband,...

Arian Moayed, Katie Lowes, Alexis Floyd, Anders Holm , Anna Deavere Smith, Jeff Perry, Terry Kinney and Laverne Cox also star.
