First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden attended Sunday's Nascar event, serving as the day's grand marshals at the Homestead-Miami Speedway to boost awareness for the organization Joining Forces, which promotes hiring veterans.
They were joined by Army Sgt. Andrew Barry. When Barry was introduced, the crowd of Nascar fans cheered.
However, when the two women stepped out, the crowd was less than welcoming. They booed as Obama, Biden, Barry, and the children accompanying them kicked off the races with the requisite "Gentlemen, start your engines!"
ABC News reports that Obama didn't notice the crowd's disapproval over the noise of the jets flying overhead. Well, she knows now!
Our favorite reaction to the booing came from "Parenthood" actor and comedian Dax Shepard. "Michelle Obama was booed at Nascar race," he tweeted. "That's some classy s*** there. something to really feel manly about."
Indeed.
