Sola Media has acquired worldwide sales rights to CGI animated film “Captain Sabertooth and the Countess of Gral,” the follow-up to “Captain Sabertooth and the Magic Diamond,” which Sola Media sold to more than 160 countries.
Sola Media will present “Captain Sabertooth and the Countess of Gral” to buyers for the first time at the Cannes Film Market and will unveil first footage.
In the film, best friends Raven and Pinky serve under Captain Sabertooth, the feared pirate and King of the Seven Seas. When Sibylla, the cunning Countess of Gral, attacks their ship, she steals a prized figurehead and kidnaps Pinky – all part of her clever plan to trap Sabertooth and conquer the pirates’ homeland. Now, young deckhand Raven, along with Captain Sabertooth, a dragon and an eccentric cook must stop the Countess and rescue Pinky.

Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired from New Europe Film Sales the Norwegian animated feature “Christmas at Cattle Hill,“ which is produced by the leading animation studio Qvisten Animation.
The pick-up is the latest Nordic buy from the high-profile U.S. indie distributor, which is representing the Golden Globe-nominated Danish movie “Another Round,” by Thomas Vinterberg.
Helmed by Will Ashurst, the CGI “Christmas at Cattle Hill” marks the second installment in the adventures of Klara the young city cow and her friends at Cattle Hill.
“’Christmas at Cattle Hill’ was a 2020 Christmas hit in Norway posting over 100,000 admissions despite cinemas’ limited capacity,” said Jan Naszewski, CEO at New Europe Film Sales. “We are happy that it will now travel the world. Samuel Goldwyn Films is our trusted partner who did a great job on the first part of ‘Cattle Hill’ and we’re very glad to continue the collaboration.”

Stuttgart-based world sales company Sola Media has snapped up rights for Efm to the Scandinavian CG-animated feature Captain Sabertooth And The Magic Diamond. Sola Media is handling all territories except Scandinavia. Nordisk will release the film theatrically in Norway, Sweden and Denmark in autumn 2019.
Captain Sabertooth is based on one of Norway’s most successful children’s brands of the 30 years. As well as feature film and TV adaptations, Captain Sabertooth has also inspired stage musicals and a theme park in southern Norway.

The winner of the Eurimages Lab Project Award from Haugesund’s Works In Progress presentations was Katrín Ólafsdóttirs The Wind Blew On from Iceland.
The new prize, worth $56,000 (€50,000) was given to “the most promising cutting-edge film presented as a work in progress”.
The jury was comprised of Norwegian filmmaker Bent Hamer, Dorien van de Pas of the Netherlands Filmfund, and Heidi Zwicker of Sundance.
Head of New Nordic Films Gyda Velvin Myklebust noted that the award was aimed at a film that was “experimental in form or content”.

Amour’s 88-year-old Oscar-nominated actress, Emmanuelle Riva, has joined the cast of Icelandic thriller Alma, the comeback film for director Kristin Johannesdottir, whose last feature was 1992 Cannes selection As In Heaven.
Alma is the story of a woman imprisoned in a forensic psychiatric unit for murdering her lover (even though she has no recollection of the crime). After seven years behind bars, she discovers her lover is still alive and escapes to kill him for real.
