Bosnian filmmaker Ines Tanović returns to the Sarajevo Film Fest with this year’s opening film, “The Son.” Her second feature film continues the examination of family that began with her segment in the 2010 omnibus film “Some Other Stories,” about a young man at the end of the Bosnian war who returns to his native Sarajevo a refugee in his own city.
In 2015’s “Our Everyday Life,” which likewise premiered in Sarajevo, the story focuses on an older divorced and weary war veteran who has lost his ideals and finds himself trapped in the status quo.
Tanović continues the loose story arc in “The Son,” in which the older character, now a father, moves to the background as his son, and a new generation, become the focus of the story. The film examines the challenges of modern-day Sarajevo, a transitional society plagued by drugs, weapons and wrong values. Tanović spoke...

Everybody was considering new directions.
Accepting true selves was the theme of Claws Season 2 Episode 9.
All these life choices should make for an explosive season finale.
Desna came ready to pay a hefty price to get out from under Zlata's thumb. She would get revenge on Gregory and be free at the same time.
To that end, she was planning her "fake wedding" to Gregory, and apparently everyone except him and his mother Matilde knew about it. So the expectation is they will find out at the perfectly wrong time.
That being said, Desna caved on her choice of wedding outfit, choosing the traditional gown favored by Matilde. But that was after she and her crew thoroughly offended Matilde with their garment choices.

Unfortunately, dress shopping made her realize how she felt about getting married, making this sham ceremony all the harder for her.

Poor Desna just can't catch a break.
Just when her plan to gain revenge starts to work, things fall apart on Claws Season 2 Episode 7.
Desna made the mistake of trying to be someone she is not: a gangster. She forgot who she was: a nurturer.
As a result, she lost Quiet Ann, the gentlest soul on her crew, and Ann's unintentional pillow talk may prove to be Desna's downfall.
This was a good episode for law enforcement, whatever branch employs both Arlene and Lucy.
First, after Polly confessed all her various crimes at a wired Dr. Ken on Claws Season 2 Episode 6, Arlene and Lucy had leverage on their incompetent informant.

Then Polly dodged that bullet that she didn't even know was coming when Ken got useful dirt on Zlata vodka-boarding Roller, much to everyone's amazement, even mine.
Finally, Ann poured out her heart to her lying lover Arlene,...

The Performers | Hannah John-Kamen and Aaron Ashmore
The Show | Killjoys
The Episode | “The Warrior Princess Bride” (July 20, 2018)
The Performance | Syfy’s jaunty space adventure opened Season 4 with a sliiiightly unconventional hour that, save for a few scenes — where Khylen tried to calm Dutch as she lay wounded in the greenspace — took place years ago. And boy, did Hannah John-Kamens and Aaron Ashmore make that past a blast.
Chronicling a time shortly after Yalena Yardeen and John Jaqobis first met but before they became Killjoys, the flashbacks entertainingly echoed the series’ freshman run, when everything was shiny and new, the stakes a bit less dire.

Watch out, Zlata and Gregory!
It took some time, but Desna went on the road and rediscovered her shitkicker self on Claws Season 2 Episode 6.
Now she's in touch with her inner gangster and is in charge of the resistance.
That promises to be a bumpy ride.
It was only fitting that Desna was reeling at the beginning. Her boss had shot her best friend's husband. Then she found out Zlata and Gregory were playing her.
Jenn's verbal attack on Desna after Bryce slipped into a coma sent her over the edge and she and Dean onto the road.
They were off to see their favorite foster mom, whom they hadn't seen for decades. This impulsive decision came from a promise Miz Wallace had made to her decades before.

Poor Dean must have been confused about why Desna, his rock, was walking into the ocean and was racked by sobbing.

What way can Desna turn now?
She had the legs taken out from under her on Claws Season 2 Episode 5.
Where to start?
Let's start with the big, late surprise. Desna's freshly minted fiance is actually in league with Zlata, her supposedly sympathetic boss. And they're also at least co-conspirators with benefits. Ouch!
All this time, I figured Gregory was with Desna to keep an eye on the Russians. Obviously, that was wrong.
So he's with her to keep track of Uncle Daddy and the Dixie Mafia? I just don't see why. Up until this episode, Clay has been a shell of his former self. And he's still no strategic planner.

TNT has always had the pulse of American comedy on check, and 2017’s release of Claws proved just as much. Claws is about a group of manicurists hustling against the gritty landscape of South Florida. Who knew the nail salon could be so absurdly entertaining? The show is full of interesting characters that only a plot like that could provide, and one of those characters is Zlata Ostrovsky. Zlata is new to the series this second season and is being portrayed by familiar German actress Franka Potente. Although she just started, she’s already climbing the ranks of favorite Claws characters

So that's what Quiet Ann has been thinking.
We finally got to go inside the mind of Quiet Ann on Claws Season 2 Episode 4.
Ann has been seemingly the most thoughtful of Desna's crew, but we've learned so little about her. She's an Ivy League graduate and an ex-felon who was forced to give up the child she gave birth to when she was young.
Desna saved her life and gave her a home, and now Ann is fiercely loyal to Desna above all else.
That includes betraying Arlene, her soulmate, setting up the detective before she was able to arrest Desna on Claws Season 1 Episode 9.
Ann got cruelly reminded of what might have been when she received a phone call from Department of Human Services saying they had a baby ready to be adopted by Ann and her partner. She could have gotten a child to replace the one she lost,...

Desna seems to be finding some method in Zlata's madness.
She used those lessons in her relationship with Gregory on Claws Season 2 Episode 3.
Desna was already having 1950s' black-and-white nightmares about her future with Gregory.
That was before she discovered she had competition for Gregory's affection in the person of his outspoken mother, Matilde.
Even in a wheelchair, Matilde was a force of nature. And who would have guessed that hard-edged Gregory was actually a momma's boy?
Not only did Gregory surprise Desna by introducing her to Matilde on what was supposed to be their special day on his boat.

But then Gregory told her Matilde is moving into his house and followed that up with telling Desna that he loved her.
No wonder she was more than a little confused afterward, ready to back away from Gregory.
