“The Deer King” is one of two adaptations of the original light novel, with the 2021 film of the same name likely to be where the majority are familiar with the title, considering the manga and light novel have just recently seen release through Yen Press. Coming to the series without reading the light novel first, which is set for future release, or having watched the film, it is hard to draw a comparison to either.

It took them until Justified: City Primeval Season 1 Episode 4, but we finally got what is -- in my estimation -- a classic Elmore Leonard-esque criminal philosophy expounded with conviction and eloquence.
Toma Costia, Mags Bennett says howdy-doo, and please give Raylan a run for his guns.
With the Albanian mob making things complicated, does anyone else feel like Raylan's just about done being all calm and collected and by the book?
To be fair, he still hasn't shot anyone. And that's really the best measure of how far he's come since his stint in Harlan County.
When Agron takes off on Bryl -- more thoughts on our dear Norbert later -- Raylan's restraint when Besnik's instincts are to back up his buddy is laudable. Pre-parenthood, Raylan would've at least shot him in the leg to make sure he stayed put.
Taking a moment to admire Yuna's spunk.

Of the many ways that Final Fantasy 16 differentiates itself from pretty much every other mainline Final Fantasy game, it’s the game’s dark medieval fantasy tones that have stuck with me most. Many have compared Final Fantasy 16 to Game of Thrones in terms of its tone, content, and themes and that’s a pretty fair comparison. We’ve seen things like palace intrigue and kingdoms vying for power in previous Final Fantasy games, but Final Fantasy offers a more adult take on those concepts. Its narrative and world are filled with blood, cursing, and, yes, sex.
The Final Fantasy franchise has always had a strange relationship with sex. The very first Final Fantasy game featured a topless Medusa creature that was censored in the North American port of the title. Mind you, the offending nipple was no larger than an 8-bit pixel, but it was apparently a big enough...

It’s the touristy image most Japanese have… The locals want to see realism in films about Okinawa” director Yasuhiro Yoshida explains in a recent interview with Jff+. Since December, the streaming platform has uploaded a lineup of free-to-watch titles, including Yoshida’s 2013 feature “Leaving on the 15th Spring”. A gentle, heartfelt drama, the movie brews an unexpectedly nuanced message about growing up, that is both unique and universal.

In her short directorial career, Ryu Hee Jung has been known to make poignant melodramas dealing with the romantic lives of Korean women; ‘Coffee Time’ (2017) features a housewife trying to deal with a potential new love interest, whereas last year’s ‘3.5th Period’ tells the story of a highschooler catching feelings for a boy in a fantastical realm hidden within their school. In Hee Jung’s most recent release, ‘Mother’s Place’ displays the same romantic efforts of her prior movies while also dealing with domestic issues in a messy but all-too-familiar way.
