Silvia Gambardella has been reporting, writing and producing hard-hitting, investigative reports and documentaries from one end of the nation to the other over three decades for ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, Discovery, National Geographic, MSNBC, The History Channel, Court TV, among other networks.
In 2019, she won an Emmy for her critically acclaimed documentary, The Opioid Epidemic, Carolina In Crisis.
Gambardella is an independent field producer for ABC's Good Morning America and World News Tonight while she continues to write and produce documentaries. She began working for ABC in 2004 and has covered such headline stories as Hurricane Katrina (spending a month in Louisiana) and the Duke Lacrosse and John Edwards' scandals.
Gambardella began her career as a TV news reporter in Scranton, PA. She later pursued reporting at television stations in Providence, RI, Minneapolis, MN, Detroit, MI and Los Angeles, CA. She was a correspondent on Buena Vista's nationally syndicated weekly program, The Crusaders.
As an investigative consumer reporter, she was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Consumer of America.
Gambardella graduated from the Columbia University School of Journalism with a Master's degree. A native of New York City, she currently resides in Raleigh, NC.
