‘Anything’s Possible’ Writer Ximena García Lecuona Sets Directorial Debut: ‘No Me Sigas’ (Exclusive)
Chosen as one of Variety’s 10 Screenwriters to Watch 2022, Ximena García Lecuona, the Mexico City-based writer of Billy Porter’s “Anything’s Possible,” has set her directorial debut “No Me Sigas,” a Spanish-language chiller with a shocking final twist.
Also writer of “The Kiss List,” García Lecuona will direct with brother Eduardo Lecuona. The smart genre horror thriller is set up at Mexico City’s Maligno Gorehouse, which co-produced “Huesera,” a double Tribeca winner and XYZ pick-up.
Also written by García Lecuona, “No Me Sigas” turns on Carla, 26, who dreams of becoming a big influencer. To achieve this she decides to fake a haunting in her apartment. However, in playing with these dark forces, she accidentally lets in a real malignant entity.
“Although a horror movie instead of a romantic comedy, ‘No Me Sigas,’ [like ‘Anything’s Possible” and “The Kiss List”] also falls in the Young Adult genre, it has that coming-of-age feel.

The Darkness promises to be another terrifying fairy tale from Mexico, "a special mix of Shyamalan’s early films, Dogtooth and the poetic fantasy of Guillermo del Toro,” according to Tanja Meissner, Mfi head of sales for the film.
The Darkness is expected to be released in 2016. It is directed by Daniel Castro Zimbron and co-written with David Pablos.
Synopsis:
The Darkness centers on Argel (Aliocha Sotnikoff) who, along with his two siblings, locked inside a cabin basement in a forest, fearful of a wild beast wandering outside, but when his older brother disappears, Argel sets out to confront the darkest secrets and mysteries that the forest and his father (Brontis Jodorosky) hide.

The final project selected to take part in the first Latin American Co-Production Market in Panama City from April 7-9 has been announced (26) during the the 29th Guadalajara International Film Festival.
The project is Las Tinieblas directed by Daniel Castro Zimbrón from Mexico.
As previously mentioned, organisers of the Meets Film Market will award a $25,000 cash prize on the winner.
The Latin American Co-Production Market will run during the third International Film Festival Of Panama.
The 11 previously announced Meets projects are Dr. Fe (Colombia), Blood Window (Colombia), The Bolivian Case (Bolivia), El Marco De La Cara (Dominican Republic),
Érase Una Vez En El Caribe (Puerto Rico), Mi Mundial (Uruguay-Brazil) and the five Panamanian projects, Buscando Al Indio Conejo, Gauguin Y El Canal, Kimura, Piedra Roja and Soñar Con La Ciudad.

In its first year, Cannes’ Cinéfondation’s Atelier invited projects from relative filmmaker unknowns such as Gerardo Naranjo (I’m Gonna Explode), Lisandro Alonso (Liverpool) and Aida Begic (Snow). Celebrating year number 10, this year’s group of fifteen that will benefit from Croisette meetings and future coin include the likes of Quebecer Guy Édoin (Marécages), Cannes Critics’ Week winner for Aquí y allá in filmmaker Antonio Méndez Esparza, and 2011 Camera d’Or winner Pablo Giorgelli (pictured above) who broke out with Las Acacias (review).

The fourth annual London Underground Film Festival is the first edition of the fest to be run by new caretakers Daniel Fawcett and Clara Pais, two accomplished filmmakers. The festival will run November 14-17 at the legendary avant-garde media center, the Horse Hospital.
Fawcett and Pais have programmed a bold fest, which begins on the 14th with the London-based documentary Grasp the Nettle by Dean Puckett. The film follows the challenges faced by a group of land rights activists fighting for a piece of disused land in West London. Also on opening night is Randy Moore’s Escape From Tomorrow, which was filmed surreptitiously at Disneyland; and Táu by Daniel Castro Zimbrón.
Other films screening at the fest include the award winning doc A Body Without Organs, directed by Steven Graves; Alex Munt’s Warhol homage Poor Little Rich Girls (After Warhol); Irene Lusztig’s history of childbirth, The Motherhood...
