Snowpiercer has had quite the ride—and it’s not over yet! The drama, which aired for three seasons on TNT and had filmed a fourth before it was canceled in January 2023, has been saved. (Season 3 ended in March 2022; Season 4 had been picked up in July 2021.) Now, just over a year later, AMC Networks has acquired the drama from Tomorrow Studios, with the first three seasons set to stream on AMC+ later this year. The fourth, which has yet to air, will debut in early 2025 on AMC and AMC+. Snowpiercer is set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland. It centers on the remnants of humanity who inhabit a perpetually moving train, with 1001 cars, that circles the globe. Class warfare, social injustice, and the politics of survival play out in the adaptation based on Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette’s graphic novel and Bong Joon-ho’s film.

Patience is a virtue, especially if you're a sci-fi fan.
When it comes to genre TV, science fiction and sci-fi adjacent programs are often saved when unceremoniously dumped by a network.
Jericho, Lucifer, The Expanse, and Stargate Sg-1 all found new life after cancellation. Today, Snowpiercer joins that list.
AMC Networks announced today that it has acquired the exclusive U.S. linear and streaming rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama series Snowpiercer.
The first three seasons of the critically acclaimed drama will stream on AMC+ later this year, leading up to the series’ season four premiere on AMC and AMC+ in early 2025.
This should come as excellent news for TV Fanatics, as the show always drove discussion and fueled passionate viewers with much to say.

Originally developed as an eight-episode series, the maritime adventure “Lucy Lost” will instead hit the silver screen now that Paris-based powerhouse Xilam Animation has retooled the project as a feature. “Klaus” alum Olivier Clert has boarded as co-writer and director, joining BAFTA-winning screenwriter Helen Blakeman for a seaside family tale adapted from “War Horse” author Michael Morpurgo’s 2014 novel “Listen to the Moon.”
Xilam has shared this first-look with Variety ahead of the reformatted project’s pitch at Cartoon Movie in Bordeaux.
Set on the Isles of Scilly just off the Cornish coast, the film follows a young girl named Lucy raised by a clan of fishermen she knows not to be hers. However, she remembers little else about her past, and as a terrible war rages off in the distance, a chance encounter with the mysterious girl her own age soon helps Lucy put back the pieces of her...

Evidently the most successful outing of a Korean filmmaker in the West, at least in terms of box office success, “Snowpiercer” is based on the French climate fiction graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand and Jean-Marc Rochette. Featuring an all-star Hollywood cast that resulted in approximately 80 percent of the film being shot in English, and most of the shooting taking place in Prague, the production costs reached $40 million, making “Snowpiercer” the most expensive Korean production at the time. However, the film would go on to screen at a number of international festivals, winning a plethora of awards and eventually finding distribution all over the world, with its profit at the end of its run reaching the amount of $87 million worldwide.

It’s been over a year since the third season of Snowpiercer wrapped up on TNT but there’s still no word on when fans might get to see the fourth and final season. Due to cost-cutting measures, it was announced earlier this year that Snowpiercer season 4 wouldn’t be airing on TNT but that Tomorrow Studios would be shopping the series to another network.
While speaking with Deadline, Tomorrow Studios CEO Marty Adelstein offered an update on the state of Snowpiercer. “We have Season 4 in the can, which hasn’t been seen yet,” Adelstein said. “We’re talking to a number of buyers about buying the first three seasons and also Season 4 which is probably our best season; we’re in the middle of that.” He added that they’re also searching for a new home for Let the Right One In, the former Showtime series that was canceled earlier this year.

The fourth and final season of Snowpiercer was set to debut on TNT, but that debut has been scrapped. Deadline has reported that Warner Bros. Discovery has axed Snowpiercer season 4, which is believed to be part of the tax write-offs for content at the company.

Discovery spokesperson said in a statement. “This was a difficult decision, but our admiration for the talented writers, actors and crew who brought Snowpiercer’s extraordinary post-apocalyptic world to life remains strong. We have been working collaboratively with the producers since last year to help the series find a new home where fans can continue to enjoy the compelling story and exceptional visual experience. With its seventh edition coming to an end, Venice’s Book Adaptation Rights Market (Barm) is already eyeing the future. The three-day event – taking place during the Italian fest – is now recognized as the third most important annual rendezvous by the publishers, states Pascal Diot, head of industry sidebar Venice Production Bridge.
“It’s starting to be ‘the’ event for the publishers to attend,” agrees Vpb’s Chiara Marin.
“Before, I would go to all these book fairs and when I would mention Venice Film Festival, people would go: ‘What are you doing here?,’ ” she laughs.
As the demand for adapted stories increases, even more publishers and literary agencies were invited this year, including Taipei’s Dala Publishing, Emily Books Agency and The Grayhawk Agency. Due to popular demand, the event also decided to focus on comics and graphic novels, with the likes of Casterman, Glénat, Nathan, Tunué, Astiberri Ediciones,...

It’s easy (and mostly correct) to assume that the majority of superhero television is based on comics. But Hollywood loves existing IP, which means there are plenty of other series on TV right now based on comic books or graphic novels that have nothing to do with super powers or saving the day.
Comics are much more than caped crusaders — graphic novels run the same genre gamut as literary novels, from journalism to sci-fi and plenty in between. Below, we’ve rounded up a bunch of TV series that you might not have realized were based on comic books. Read on to find out where you can watch each show and, more importantly, where to find the graphic novels that inspired them.

Photo: Snowpiercer/Cj Entertainment Parasite was a Bong Joon-Ho masterpiece. But I’d argue a certain 2013 sci-fi gem of his equals in both greatness and genius. Based on the graphic novel, Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette, Joon-Ho seamlessly adapts Snowpiercer‘s original sci-fi story by pulling out standout performances from a star-studded cast, top-notch world-building despite the entire film taking place on a train, and impressive cinematography and action sequences that culminate in an experience one can only compare to the grandest of literal train rides the world has to offer. Chris Evans At His Best in 'Snowpiercer'? Yes, Evans' most complete performance is the iconic symbol of America, but he also had seven films to develop and connect us to the star-spangled man with a plan. I’m also certain Chris Evans will at some point will deliver an even better performance. But until that day comes,...

As ridiculous as this may sound, try not to bring bring any baggage onboard “Snowpiercer.” TNT’s long-in-the-works science-fiction series about a post-apocalyptic train ride carrying the last remnants of humanity (and all their pretty stuff!) bills itself as an adaptation of Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette’s graphic novels and Bong Joon Ho’s 2013 film. But even though those stories send their titular trains down very different tracks, you don’t have to be familiar with either for expectations to burden the latest ride.

Graeme Manson spilled his pulpy detective neo-noir into Bong Joon-ho, Jacques Lob, and Jean-Marc Rochette’s dystopian science fiction: After years in development and then a few more wading around in the aether, bouncing between networks like a shuttlecock between rackets, “Snowpiercer” finally comes to air on TNT, bringing to television Bong’s 2013 film adaptation of 1982’s graphic novel “Le Transperceneige.” All “Snowpiercer” needs now is to be made into a stage play.

After years of delays, TNT’s TV series adaptation of “Snowpiercer” is finally premiering later this month, and ahead of the show’s launch comes the official trailer which demonstrates beyond any doubt that yes, it’s definitely a TV series version of the acclaimed film directed by Bong Joon Ho.
Not that we’re complaining. Based on Bong’s 2014 film adaptation of the critically acclaimed graphic novel series “Le Transperceneige” by Jean-Marc Rochette, “Snowpiercer” is set more than seven years after an effort to reverse global warming went horribly wrong and plunged the earth into a brutal ice age. The show centers on the last surviving humans, who live on a perpetually moving train that circles the globe in order to stay within the relatively warmer daytime band. Inside the train, the population is divided into a brutal class system in which the wealthy and privileged enjoy luxurious bounty in the front cars,...

It’s possible no other TV production has had as many troubles and delays on the road to the small screen than Snowpiercer, TNT’s upcoming adaptation of the acclaimed Bong Joon-ho 2013 film and Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette’s graphic novel Le Transperceneige. Snowpiercer has weathered showrunner departures, network changes, and director exits. But finally, after many years of […]

Mark Ruffalo has confirmed that there have been talks about his Bruce Banner/Hulk showing up in Disney+’s upcoming She-Hulk show.
The actor dropped the info during a panel at C2E2 over the weekend, where he was on hand to chat about all things Marvel with host Clare Kramer, who you may remember as the evil, mind-warping god Glory from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, among other things.
LaughingPlace.com was present as Ruffalo sat down to answer some pressing questions, and he mulled how he was feeling about where we left Bruce in the closing scenes of Avengers: Endgame. After admitting he’d still like Hulk and Thanos to have a rematch, the Dark Waters star was inevitably asked if we could see Hulk – Smart or Smash-flavored tbc! – pop up in Marvel and Disney+’s She-Hulk, which is now rumored to start filming in November.

TNT’s Snowpiercer has had a rough ride to the small screen — almost as rough as the perpetual train ride at the center of post-apocalyptic sci-fi series based on Bong Joon-ho’s feature film and Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette’s graphic novel. First it lost its showrunner, then it lost the director of its pilot. Then it bounced back and forth […]

We can only hope that he will survive this one, as we have learned that actor Sean Bean will be joining the cast of the upcoming post-apocalyptic universe in “Snowpiercer”. We all know that Bean has been the butt of many, many internet memes poking fun at his early demise in series such as “Game Of Thrones” and the “Lord Of The Rings” film. Bean will be joining the “Snowpiercer” cast for season two, rather than season one, which has already been greenlit by TBS. The series is an adaptation of the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob (story) and Jean-Marc Rochette (illustration). No further details on Sean Bean’s character have been revealed for now. He’ll be joining Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs, who are starring in the series. Following the 1984 comic and Bong Joon-ho’s 2013 film (Parasite), the series will explore the class struggle taking...

Now, I’ve sadly yet to read the Snowpiercer comic books (though I intend to eventually) but I am a fan of the overlooked brilliant movie that came out back in 2013 that was directed by Bong Joon-ho and starred Captain America himself, Chris Evans. Snowpiercer is also getting a TV show, apparently, which is set to air in 2020 and stars Jennifer Connelly. I’m excited to see this concept given more life in the form of a show, and I need to check out the other comic work, but I jumped at the chance to take a look at Extinction, part 1 of the Snowpiercer prequel.
Now, good for me that Extinction is apparently the first part in a three-part prequel series that leads to the happenings of the movie. I was immediately impressed by the writing of the book,...

Shortly after TNT gave the Snowpiercer series the greenlight, the showrunner Josh Friedman ended up leaving the show. As you'll see in a couple of tweets below, he says he did not leave over creative differences, he was removed because the network didn't feel like he would be compliant. As you might expect, he's not very happy with how things turned out.
I didn't "exit" over creative differences. TNT insisted that I be removed from show running duties because they didn't think I'd be compiant. Hopefully they found someone more to their liking.
— josh friedman (@Josh_Friedman) February 27, 2018
TNT has since hired a new showrunner though, and that showrunner is Orphan Black co-creator Graeme Manson. Sarah Aubrey, executive VP of originals at TNT had this to say in a statement:
"Graeme’s extensive background in the sci-fi genre coupled with his brilliant work behind Orphan Black made him the perfect choice for this series.

TNT has officially ordered a full season of the upcoming Snowpiercer series with Jennifer Connelly. I'm actually excited about this show. It's based on the French graphic novel called Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette. Director Bong Joon-ho previously adapted it into a film, which turned out to be really freakin' good.
I'm not only a fan of the story, but I'm a fan of Jennifer Connelly, and it will be great to see her in a series like this. She will play a character named Melanie Cavill, "a First Class passenger who works as the Voice of the Train – responsible for making the daily announcements over its Pa system. Though many in her VIP position are dismissive of the lower class passengers, Melanie is curiously fascinated by them."
The story is set seven years after an apocalyptic ice age leaves Earth as a frozen wasteland,...

Jennifer Connelly has joined the cast of TNT's upcoming series adaptation of Snowpiercer. It's awesome that they managed to land an Oscar-winning actress, who has starred in films such as Dark City, Requiem For a Dream, A Beautiful Mind, Hulk, and she most recently starred in Robert Rodriguez's Alita: Battle Angel.
The series is based on the French graphic novel called Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette. It was previously adapted into a film by director Bong Joon-ho and it was pretty damn good.

Earlier this year is was announced that TNT would be developing a series adaption of Snowpiercer, which is based on the French graphic novel called Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette.
I loved the movie that was directed by Bong Joon-ho. It had an amazing cast that included Chris Evans, John Hurt, Ed Harris, Jamie Bell and more. The series is currently in development, and the pilot episode is set to be helmed by Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson. They've also just started putting together their own cast starting with Hamilton star Daveed Diggs. He originated the roles of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson.

TNT has announced that they have ordered a pilot for a series based on the property, and they've hired Josh Friedman to write the script. Friedman previously created the series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and has worked on movies such as War of the Worlds and some of the upcoming Avatar sequels.
In case you aren't familiar with Snowpiercer, it's set "seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland and the remnants of humanity inhabit a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe. The show questions class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival."

We’re intrigued, then, to hear that a Snowpiercer TV show is in the works. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, telling us that Tomorrow Studios – an American offshoot of ITV - has picked up the rights to Bong Joon-ho’s 2014 Snowpiercer film.
The film, as you may already know, was based on Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette’s graphic novel Le Transperceneige. For those who are unfamiliar, Snowpiercer focuses on a war between the upper and lower classes of society, within the constraints of a future train circling the globe. It’s rather good, if you were wondering.

20. Story of Ricky (Lik wong) – Starring Siu-Wong Fan as the titular character, Riki Oh, based on a manga series which eventually became an anime, marks the end of an era of Japanese exploitation flicks, before the new generation of filmmakers such as Takashi Miike took over. Unlike Miike’s movies, or other recent entries such as Tokyo Gore Police, Riki Oh’s tone borders on comedy, played up by bad voice dubbing, foolish plot lines, cartoonish gore and eccentric characters (including a one-eyed assistant warden with a hook for a hand). For a prison film, the movie never seems mean-spirited, and if anything it masquerades as a bizarre superhero flick. The effects are the main draw – Riki Oh exists simply to showcase several outlandish set pieces, ramping up the level of violence, gore and action with each new scene. Made before the days of CGI, director Lam relies simply on practical effects,...

(Cbr) "Snowpiercer" star Chris Evans and producer Dooho Choi spoke with a select group of press during Comic-Con International This year at Comic-Con International in San Diego, "Snowpiercer" star Chris Evans and producer Dooho Choi took time to speak to the press about their post-apocalyptic tale of literal class warfare aboard the last train on Earth. Assembled by visionary Korean director Bong Joon-Ho, "Snowpiercer" is currently in a limited Us theatrical run while also being available in homes through VOD (Video On Demand). Evans portrays Curtis, the film's protagonist and leader of the tail section of refuges who begin a bloody uprising against the tyrannical front section of the train. Evans began by saying that although "Snowpiercer" was based on a 1982 French graphic novel by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette, there's much more to the film than that. "I wouldn't have done the movie if I didn't have confidence in...
