- Co-founder of the publishing firm Weidenfeld & Nicolson with Nigel Nicolson. Became a British citizen in 1946. Created Baron Weidenfeld of Chelsea in the County of Greater London in 1976.
- He was awarded Life-Peerage in the 1976 Queen's Honours List for his services to public service and publishing. He became Baron/Lord of Chelsea in London, England.
- He was awarded the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire in the 2011 Queen's New Years Honours List for his services to public service.
