Exclusive: Alison Hurbert-Burns, content chief at Colin From Accounts streamer Binge, has told Deadline “the proof is in the pudding” as the platform’s Australian pay-tv parent Foxtel unveiled its 2024 slate today.
In an exclusive interview ahead of the slate reveal, Binge Executive Director Hurbert-Burns talked up the reach of the streaming platform and Foxtel, which is Australia’s leading pay service.
“I’m a believer in the proof being in the pudding and the good content finding its way through,” she said. “The differentiator for us is we don’t do anything unless it’s exceptional, and we have nearly 30 years of proving that ambition.”
Foxtel launched in 1995 and has been in its current form, with News Corp as majority owner, since 2018. Binge launched during the pandemic in May 2020 and has quickly established itself as a major player in original content in Australia. The CBS Studios and Easy Tiger...

Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta certainly had amazing chemistry as Sandy Olsson and Danny Zuko in Grease, but that doesn't mean they were lovebirds in real life. In a new interview, Olivia, 69, revealed why she never dated the 64-year-old famed actor since every fan of the hit 1978 film thought they'd be the most perfect pair in real life. "We were both with other people when we were filming and I think, respectfully, it just didn’t happen," she shared with Mia Freedman on the No Filter podcast, adding that she would describe their bond as "sisterly." (Photo Credit: Getty Images) Olivia continued, "I think it was good, because I think it kept the tension there and the chemistry. It might have been a real disaster had we decided to date or we had a falling out or something. So I think it was just as well that it didn’t happen.

The use of digital marketing and social media could be the difference between Liberal or Labor come September 14. Nic Christensen speaks to the politicians and digital experts embracing online and swinging votes.
It was early June last year when the Prime Minister’s office first reached out to the bloggosphere. Julia Gillard’s office extended the invitation to a group of around 30 prominent female bloggers and high-profile online commentators to join the Prime Minister for afternoon tea at Kirribilli House.
“I got the email and at first I thought it was a joke,” says ‘mummy blogger’ Mrs Woog, who runs the site Woogsworld. “There was a group of us there, I guess you’d call us prominent ‘lady writers of the internet’, but at the end of the day if the Prime Minister asks you to come to afternoon tea, you go.”

Two months after being sacked for speaking out against a stitch-up by Woman’s Day, magazine veteran Alana House has landed a new role.
House is to be editor of iVillage Australia, sister website to mamamia.com.au.
House lost her job at Acp Magazines in November after she blogged about how Woman’s Day had covered the incarceration of convicted child killer Kathleen Folbigg.
House, a schoolfriend of Folbigg, accused Woman’s Day – which she once edited – of fabricating a story which claimed the prisoner was “so happy in jail”. She was sacked by the magazine company, which has since rebranded as Bauer Media, the same day.
House’s extensive magazine experience also includes Cleo, Cosmopolitan and Harper’s Bazaar.
Mamamia began its partnership with iVillage to launch an Australian edition last July. The site focuses on building a community atmosphere and the topic of parenting. Mamamia, which also targets a female audience,...
