A.P. Bio has reached the end of its life.
Peacock has canceled the comedy series after four seasons, according to series creator Mike O'Brien.
“I’m sad to announce that A.P. Bio will not be renewed for a fifth season,” O’Brien wrote on Twitter.
“But mostly I’m feeling grateful right now. To all the fans who watched the show and fought for it to come back after the cancellation."
"And to Peacock [and Universal Television] for giving us two more seasons after that."
"This show has been one of the best experiences of my life and that’s because of the hundreds of hilarious, hard-working, positive people that were involved.”
A.P. Bio launched on NBC in 2018, and while it never had a big audience, it received acclaim.

Fittingly for a show about high school, A.P. Bio’s writers are often tasked with the least enjoyable aspect of education: homework.
“One of the ways we try to find new areas in stories is just by writing assignments and homework,” A.P. Bio showrunner Mike O’Brien tells Den of Geek. “We’ll all go home and write. I often call them sketches or scenes – just some little thing.”
O’Brien’s homework assignments have apparently paid off as they’ve allowed the comedy to reach four seasons, the first two of which aired on NBC and the following two on streaming service Peacock.
A.P. Bio is set in the fictional Whitlock High School in Toledo, Ohio and follows disgraced Harvard philosophy professor Jack Griffin (Glenn Howerton) as he returns home to teach some eager nerds A.P. Biology. Unfortunately for the nerds, Jack has no intention of teaching them A.

A.P. Bio star Glenn Howerton wants to make one thing very clear about the show’s move from NBC to Peacock: it wasn’t canceled… or at least not canceled in the traditional sense of the term.
“This has always been misrepresented a little bit,” Howerton says. “The show did Ok on NBC but not great. And certainly not good enough for them to pick it up. But it was always my understanding that the show kind of crushed it on Hulu. Then Hulu wasn’t doing work with NBC Universal anymore. So we had this large streaming audience but nowhere to put the show. Then when Peacock decided to do Peacock Originals, they picked us up really quickly.”

Peacock released a new trailer and key art for A.P. Bio‘s third season during its panel at the virtual Ctam press tour Monday. The trailer comes ahead of the September 3 premiere of the comedy series from executive producer Lorne Michaels.

The trailer for the long-awaited Season 3 of “A.P. Bio” is here, and it finds Patton Oswalt’s Principal Durbin showing off his freshly dyed chest hair.
Glenn Howerton’s teacher character Jack Griffin is up to all sorts of antics this season, like discussing ways to almost-but-not-quite kill people and instructing kids to buy what looks a lot like a brick of cocaine. The series also stars Lyric Lewis, Mary Sohn, Jean Villepique, and Paula Pell.
“A.P. Bio” makes its debut, and Season 3 premiere, on Peacock on Sept. 3. The Glenn Howerton comedy series was canceled by NBC last May and picked up by the nascent streaming service a month later.

Your favorite rule-breaking teacher is ready to return to class. No, we’re not talking about any real teachers, who hopefully won’t have to return to anything until vaccines are widely available; we’re talking about Jack Griffin, as played by Glenn Howerton in the sitcom “A.P. Bio.”
After getting kicked out of NBC’s school, “A.P. Bio” enlisted in a new program over at Peacock. The recently launched streaming service from NBCUniversal will be the exclusive home for Season 3 of the show when it launches September 3, and Peacock has released the first trailer which you can watch below.
“A.P. Bio” follows Jack’s tenure as a high school teacher in Toledo, Ohio, after he’s forced out of his dream job at Harvard. Considering his new job only temporary, Jack doesn’t bother teaching biology. Instead, he spends his classroom time devising schemes to get back in the good graces of higher education,...

Thanks to the magic of streaming entertainment, A.P. Bio got a second lease on life.
After spending two funny, yet ratings challenged years on NBC, the sitcom was canceled. Then Comcast announced the creation of an all-encompassing NBCUniversal streaming service called Peacock. And that colorful bird was hungry for content, leading to the renewal of A.P. Bio for a third season.
Now A.P. Bio season 3 is set to premiere its eight episodes on Peacock on Sept. 3. And what better way to celebrate A.P. Bio’s impending return than to gather together all of its characters’ disembodied heads? Don’t worry – it’s not as gruesome as it sounds. Peacock has exclusively provided Den of Geek with four colorful posters from A.P. Bio’s third season featuring the characters as pencil toppers. The third season of “A.P. Bio” will launch Sept. 3 on Peacock, according to the streaming service, which rolls out nationwide Wednesday. NBCUniversal revealed a lot of details regarding their new streaming service, which is called Peacock, which is obviously a nod to NBC’s iconic logo.
The company also unveiled its initial programming slate. We already reported on the reboot of Battlestar Galactica from Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, as well as Saved By the Bell with Mario Lopez, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Elizabeth Berkley set to star; and Punky Brewster, with Soleil Moon Frye set to reprise her role as the title character.
There are a lot of other original shows coming to Peacock, though, along with catalogue series and library films. There will also be original films that will be created by Universal Pictures, Focus Features, and DreamWorks Animation.
Peacock will launch in April of 2020. It will be both advertising and subscription supported streaming service. Details on pricing and distribution will be announced as it gets closer to launch.

There will be no third season for NBC comedy series A.P. Bio, executive produced by Seth Meyers. Creator/exec producer Mike O’Brien revealed the news on Twitter.
“I’m intensely sad to announce that AP Bio will be ending after this season,” he wrote Friday “This has been my favorite project of my life and that’s because of the amazing writers, cast and crew. As most canceled shows probably feel, I think we were just hitting our stride and everyone was still loving the work, so this is very hard. We have 4 left to air and they’re 4 of my favorites.”
A.P. Bio was among several NBC midseason bubble series whose fate was not decided before the upfronts, along with freshmen Abby’s, The Enemy Within and The Village. Neither is expected to return next season.

Class is dismissed indefinitely for the students of A.P. Bio, which has been cancelled at NBC after two seasons.
Creator Mike O’Brien broke the bad news on Twitter, encouraging fans to watch the four remaining episodes:
I'm intensely sad to announce that AP Bio will be ending after this season. This has been my favorite project of my life and that's because of the amazing writers, cast and crew. As most canceled shows probably feel, I think we were just hitting our stride and everyone was still

In a Gold Derby exclusive, we have learned the category placements of the key Emmy Awards contenders for Universal Television. For this season, the company has many programs for NBC and a few they produce for other networks. They include previous nominees “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (Andy Samberg), “The Good Place”, “Saturday Night Live,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” (Ellie Kemper) and “Will and Grace” plus new contenders “New Amsterdam” (Ryan Eggold) and “Russian Doll” (Natasha Lyonne) as part of their 2019 campaign.
Below, the list of Universal lead, supporting and guest submissions for their comedies and dramas. It’s time to start shutting up again. In its second season, “A.P. Bio” gives reprobate high school teacher Jack Griffin (Glenn Howerton) an even more morally bankrupt reason to be awful, and by extension, awfully funny. Having set the curriculum for gleefully selfish schemes in Season 1, the NBC comedy from former “SNL” writer Mike O’Brien updates the syllabus to broaden the scope of Jack’s pomposity and ploys in the show’s sophomore outing.
The disgraced Harvard philosophy scholar who had lost his dream job to an academic rival is now stuck teaching advanced placement biology in his hometown of Toledo. Instead of teaching his class, Jack mined their brilliance to carry out a personal vendetta in Season 1, and this year, their exploitation continues.

A Night with A.P. Bio: A Charity Comedy Show will raise funds for a Toledo-based nonprofit, Partners for Education.
A.P. Bio's disgraced Harvard professor turned Ohio high school teacher Jack Griffin may not be particularly charitable. But that doesn't mean the show can't be.
The folks behind NBC's A.P. Bio are hosting "A Night with A.P. Bio: A Charity Comedy Show" on March 5 to raise funds for the Toledo, Ohio-based nonprofit, Partners for Education. Partners for Education is an organization dedicated to providing students, schools and partners with the best programs and services available. A.P. Bio is, of course, set in the fictional Whitlock High School in Toledo, the hometown of A.P. Bio creator Mike O'Brien (and also Tony Packo’s pickles and a neat glass museum).
