He served in RAF during WWII. After the war he went to timber
timber-business. He concluded that wood would be needed in rebuilding
Britain. He made a fortune and moved to motor-racing, first as a driver
in Formula 3 series and then he started preparing cars for other
drivers. Soon he established Tyrrel Racing Oranisation. He won three F1
world championship titles with his driver, Jackie Stewart. He sold his
team in 1998 and Tyrrel name changed to BAR.
