Brett was born in Denver, Colorado and began his entertainment career at age six in the television show Binkey's Fun Club. At age fifteen, Brett began his entrepreneurial career, making a living as a performing magician. He spent his teenage years exploring and realizing the passions that would follow him into adulthood: his love of music, magic, comedy, gaming, comics, and acting. In high school, Brett starred in musical theater productions at his school and expanded to local theater groups to hone his acting craft. Of his interests, Brett has said, "I am first and foremost a geek, I love gaming, comics, all the geek stuff." Indeed, as an adult, Brett was a guest of honor at the 2015 Comic-Con and is collaborating with Platinum Studios in the development of several comic-based films and television shows.
Brett was drawn to entertainment by his natural inclination as a performer and because of his commitment to creating awareness about humanitarian issues worldwide. At an early age, he realized the value of entertainment in reaching the greatest number of people and stimulating social change. Brett is committed to using the power of storytelling to entertain as well as to stimulate positive social change.
Brett's early commitment to manifesting positive change in the world was demonstrated when he enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of eighteen and was immediately deployed to Japan. Brett served in the First Gulf War onboard the flagship U.S.S. Midway, completed his tour, and emerged as a highly decorated naval veteran. While onboard, Brett was able to complete his Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Maryland.
While overseas, Brett's personal and professional connections presented him with the opportunity to tour with the World Magic Illusion Tour through Hong Kong, Thailand, and Japan in 1992. The actualization of his childhood passion for magic coupled with the opportunity for travel created an exciting experience for Brett, but he still felt the need to serve his country.
When he returned to the United States, Brett served at the local level as a Firefighter/EMT before returning to active military duty in 2001 after 9/11. He did two more tours, one of which brought him back to the Middle East in active combat in NAVSPECWAR3. During this time, Brett realized the value of entertainment not only to bring attention and awareness to humanitarian issues, but also to create moments of escape from horrific realities. Brett contributed to the positive morale of his fellow sailors by performing small magic tricks, telling jokes, and singing to uplift spirits while they were deployed in The Kingdom of Bahrain. Brett maintains that, "Entertainment is a necessity for our nation's military personnel as it contributes to maintaining a positive spirit in the face of extreme adversity."
In December 2003, Brett returned home from mobilization and decided to pursue a career in entertainment. In 2004, Brett began working at Microsoft and enrolled in classes to study film production. He graduated with an Associate's Degree in Film Production from Bellevue College.
