No one would call Larry David a catchphrase comic. And yet, the prolific comedic mind behind Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm certainly has a way with words that get stuck in your head.
Through 12 seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Larry David has authored many a meme-able phrase. Who among us hasn’t said “pretttay pretttaaaaay good” or “you don’t respect wood!” at one point or another? In the Curb series finale, however, Larry opts for some nonverbal communication instead … with predictably disastrous results.
As he vainly tries to garner some sympathy with the jury who will decide his fate, Larry has an undercover Susie Greene (Susie Essman) pose as his sickly girlfriend who Larry rescued from disaster. When that ploy fails, Larry opts for something simpler: he attempts to make a heart sign with his hands. We say “attempts to” because it’s clear that every muscle and tendon...

Jerry Seinfeld has spent decades in front of the camera. He rose to fame in the 1990s for Seinfeld and never left the spotlight. Decades after the finale aired, the comedian managed to use the show’s success to fund his bank account and his future career. Now, he might have joined an elite group of men and women. According to reports, Jerry Seinfeld has officially become a billionaire.
Jerry Seinfeld is officially a billionaire, maybe
Jerry Seinfeld might be a billionaire, although his team refuses to admit to that. Seinfeld’s net worth has hovered close to the $1 billion mark for several years, but financial experts now theorize that he has just pushed things over the top.

According to analysis by Bloomberg, a syndication deal and the sale of streaming rights to Netflix might have pushed the comedian over the top, turning him into a billionaire.

Cazzie David Is Glad Her Feature Directing Debut Won’t ‘Resonate’ with Most People: That’s the Point
Cazzie David may have grown up in the spotlight, but that doesn’t mean she’s ready to give audiences what they want.
The “Umbrella Academy” actress, author of essay collection “No One Asked For This,” and daughter of Larry David opted to make her feature debut with SXSW-selected anti-rom-com “I Love You Forever.” David co-wrote and co-directed the subversive dramedy with “Eighty-Sixed” web series collaborator Elisa Kalani. Oh, and did we mention David also has a supporting role in the film?
“I Love You Forever” stars “Single Drunk Female” breakout Sofia Black-d’Elia as law student Mackenzie, whose lackluster love life is resurrected after a meet-cute with charming broadcast journalist Finn (Ray Nicholson). Yet Finn’s charisma and well-timed vulnerable admissions point to a more sinister game at play, and Mackenzie soon finds herself in a year-long toxic relationship solely framed by Finn’s narcissistic abuse.

“I Love You Forever” has all the trappings of a romantic comedy, for better or worse. In the whipsmart millennial-skewing film where you’re old if you’ve been caught using a third-generation iPhone, there’s something charmingly antiquated about the scene filmmakers Cazzie David and Elisa Kalani set around Mackenzie (Sofia Black D’Elia), a law student who has a pair of bickering best friends (Jon Rudnitsky and Cazzie David) to constantly amuse her and a personal life punctuated by Jessica Simpson and Michelle Branch needle drops. Such retro touches aside, their subversive spin on the genre doesn’t seem as if it could’ve been made any earlier than 2024, amid talk that emotional manipulation in a relationship can be every bit as pernicious as physical abuse, as Mackenzie experiences when she falls for the wrong guy.
For previous generations, the wrong guy was more likely to resemble Mark Wahlberg in “Fear,...

There comes a time in every heterosexual woman or queer man’s life where we have to wonder: What is it about men that is at once so despicable and so alluring?
There are statistically more male serial killers, more male sociopaths, and — let’s be real — more male assholes than there are female counterparts. That’s just scientific fact. Sure, you can click on the hyperlinks, but do you really need to read a Psychology Today post between looking at this review and scrolling through the dating apps?
But the foundation of heteronormative rom-coms goes as follows: Girl meets boy, girl falls for boy, girl changes herself slightly for boy, and boy proposes. The end, happily ever after, everyone is great and good. Yeah, if you’re currently dating (or have been on dates at all in the 21st century), you know that’s not how it works, especially when situationships,...

In honor of International Women’s Day, IndieWire is pleased to share its annual female filmmakers to watch list featuring a rising assortment of women writers and directors with some of the biggest projects of the year.
On the big screen, Theda Hammel’s Sundance breakout “Stress Positions” went on to become a leading title on this year’s New Directors/New Films lineup and is set to close out the festival. Alessandra Lacorazza’s “In the Summers” won the Grand Jury prize at Sundance, and also earned Lacorazza the Directing prize. Cazzie David and Elisa Kalani co-wrote and co-directed SXSW selected film “I Love You Forever,” which is produced by Diablo Cody.
While David also co-stars in the film, another actress makes her directorial debut with a similarly sinister premiere: Anna Kendrick directs and stars in “Woman of the Hour” based on the haunting true story of the “Dating Game” killer.

Should “Inside Amy Schumer” Season 5 be considered a legacy revival? While the show’s time off the air hasn’t been quite as extensive as later-season revivals like “Arrested Development” or “The X-Files,” six and a half years can feel like an eternity in popular and political culture, especially when accompanied by a worldwide pandemic. Schumer herself must be particularly aware of the fullness of this time; when Season 4 of the show debuted in spring 2016, she was fresh off a big hit movie “Trainwreck” and a moment in the cultural zeitgeist; an ongoing Comedy Central sketch series seemed almost charmingly small-scale for such an ascendant star.
Since then, she’s starred in two more broad big-screen comedies, made her Broadway debut in Steve Martin’s “Meteor Shower,” given an underseen but excellent performance in “The Humans,” written and directed her Hulu series “Life & Beth,” co-hosted the Oscars, gotten married and had a child.

In Season 3 of “The Umbrella Academy,” the gifted Hargreeves siblings have found a new foe in the rival Sparrow Academy, which took their place during a time traveling mission to save the world. Netflix dropped the official trailer Thursday, giving fans a look at the insanity to come, including countless fight sequences, mysterious powers and a kugelblitz — a black hole formed from radiation that threatens to swallow the entire universe.
“When we jumped here, we created a time paradox. Our little paradox brought forth a kugelblitz,” Aidan Gallagher’s Number Five says in the trailer.
“What the hell is a kugelblitz?,” Elliot Page’s Viktor Hargeeves asks. “Essentially, we’re screwed,” Number Five responds.
This season, fans will also see changes in Page’s character, who was re-named Viktor from Vanya after Page came out as transgender in 2020. In March, Page announced that his character will also come out as trans on the new season.

A battle between The Umbrella Academy and the Sparrow Academy is well underway in a new trailer for the Netflix series’ third season.
After a nearly two-year hiatus, the comic book adaptation will be back on Wednesday, June 22 with 10 new episodes. In the wake of that Season 2 cliffhanger — which found the Hargreeves siblings transported to an alternate version of 2019 — the family will navigate “challenges, losses and surprises of their own” in Season 3, along with “an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the Universe.”

“The Umbrella Academy” returns for Season 3 this summer, and they’ve got a whole new time paradox to contend with — and a whole new “family.” Netflix debuted the first Season 3 trailer on Thursday, finally revealing the long-awaited Sparrow Academy in action after their arrival was teased in the Season 2 finale.
Picking up where that left off, Season 3 finds the Umbrella Academy returned from preventing an apocalypse in the past only to discover they completely changed the present — in fact, the Umbrella Academy doesn’t exist anymore, and in their place, they find the Sparrow Academy: an alternate version assembled when Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) adopted an (almost) entirely different lineup of seven children to start his superhero team.
As series creator and showrunner Steve Blackman explained to EW, “the Umbrellas are a family that didn’t know how to be superheroes. The Sparrows are superheroes who never knew how to be a family…...

Netflix has released first look images for “The Umbrella Academy” Season 3, offering a glimpse at the new timeline (and fight for the future) awaiting the oddball heroes in the new season.
After shutting down a 1963 apocalypse in Season 2, the Hargreeves, aka the Umbrella Academy, return home to the present day for a quick breather and short-lived relief over saving the timeline. But it doesn’t take long to realize they’ve changed the timeline more than they expected, and along with the realization that things are not completely Ok, comes the Sparrow Academy: a chilly, clever and fashionable group that clashes with the Umbrellas as soon as they enter the story. An unknown violent force causes damage (possibly thanks to them), bringing the Umbrellas to enlist Dad’s new family to help them correct something they may have caused while trying to fix the Universe’s timeline.

The Sparrows will make their highly anticipated debut on The Umbrella Academy Season 3.
Netflix on Tuesday unveiled a batch of photos for the forthcoming season, premiering June 22 on the streamer.
The new photos showcase returning stars, including Tom Hopper as Luther, David Castañeda as Diego, Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison, Robert Sheehan as Klaus, Aidan Gallagher as Five, and Elliot Page as Viktor.
As previously reported, however, the new season takes place in a reality where our heroes are unknowns.
In the new timeline, Reginald Hargreeves has created another family of super-powered beings, and we should probably expect a lot of drama.
The students of the Sparrow Academy are played by Justin Cornwell (Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey), Britne Oldford (Hunters), Jake Epstein (Suits), Genesis Rodriguez (Big Hero 6), and Cazzie David.

Netflix is giving viewers some more insight into The Umbrella Academy Season 3.
As part of the streamer's GeekedWeek event, it unveiled the episode titles for all ten episodes.
The episode titles, in show order, are “Meet the Family,” “World’s Biggest Ball of Twine,” “Pocket Full of Lightning,” “Kugelblitz,” “Kindest Cut,” “Marigold,” “Auf Wiedersehen,” “Wedding at the End of the World,” “Six Bells,” and “Oblivion.”
Netflix's GeekedWeek event finds the streamer zeroing in on some of the biggest genre content on movies and TV.
Production on the third season is already underway, but there's no telling when it might premiere on Netflix.
The streamer is expected to have a wealth of shows in the second half of 2021 due to many of its shows being delayed due to the pandemic.
In all likelihood, The Umbrella Academy Season 3 will not be on the air until 2022, and there will be some big changes.
