Exclusive: What started as a cool teaser trailer on Deadline has turned into a full-fledged movie package that will be shopped hard at Berlin next week. Andrew Will has written and will direct The Prototype, a sci-fi thriller that will be produced by Will and Shawn Wallace of Variant Films, Sean Cushing of Cantina Creative and Max Leitman of Bandito Brothers. This is being put together in a similar fashion that the Bandito Brothers employed when it did Act Of Valor, the $12 million film that has grossed over $80 million. FilmNation is financing, and Glen Basner will be in Berlin next week selling international rights. Wme Global’s Graham Taylor will be spearheading the domestic deal. We run a lot of trailers on this site, and agency parodies that have gotten jobs and representation for actors and directors, but this is a new one for Deadline. Since we broke this trailer in June,...

FilmNation Entertainment is set to finance the feature version of Andrew Will's sub-$40 million action thriller short "The Prototype" says Deadline.
Not to be confused with the video game series of the same name, the story follows an experimental drone soldier being hunted by the FBI’s elite Critical Incident Response Group after it escapes from a top-secret military base and goes on the run.
Will ("Archangel") pens and helms the film which "Act Of Valor" filmmakers the Bandito Brothers will produce. Will, Max Leitman, Shawn Wallace and Sean Cushing will also produce. The original short can be watched below:...

Exclusive: FilmNation Entertainment will provide financing for The Prototype, an action thriller written and directed by Andrew Will (Archangel) and produced by Bandito Brothers in much the same maverick fashion as they generated Act Of Valor. FilmNation will handle international sales, and Bandito Brothers’ Max Leitman will produce with Shawn Wallace and Will of Variant Films, and Sean Cushing. Deadline first caught wind of this project back in late June, when the short film by Will leaked when it was being shopped by Wme Global. The Prototype is an experimental drone soldier that is being hunted by the FBI’s elite Critical Incident Response Group after it escapes from a top-secret military base and goes on the run. It’s based on a short film by the writer-director. It’s an under-$40 million film somewhat likened to District 9, with casting getting underway. Sunrise Pictures’ Peter Schafer and Brillstein Entertainment Partners...

Audiences saw what producing team The Bandito Brothers could do with Act of Valor's $12 million dollar budget. The film's $80 million dollar ride at the box-office proved audiences are willing to look past some flaws and ignore critics for something original on screen; all with no name actors occupying the credits.
It's no wonder studios are clamoring since the trailer leaked for their new action thriller The Prototype. With $40 million - more than triple the budget of their previous effort - and what looks to be a more promising story from writer/director Andrew Will, this film could very well be the next District 9. Will, along with his producing partner Shawn Wallace, have been working with Cantina Creative and the Bandito Bros in scouting and designing tests for the action scenes. The synopsis given on IMDb is slightly more spoilerish than the trailer is, so I'll put it underneath...

The Bandito Brothers, the group that made the hit Act of Valor, is at it again with The Prototype. This is a hot package for an under $40 million action thriller in the vein of District 9 that wasn’t supposed to be auctioned until after I got back from vacation after July 4. Then the teaser leaked. Andrew Will is the writer and director and his producing partner is Shawn Wallace, and they have been working with Cantina Creative and the Bandito Bros in scouting, designing tests for the action scenes, etc. They worked under radar on Act of Valor, but no such luck this time. I got a peek at the teaser trailer, and it’s pretty impressive. Wme Global chief Graham Taylor is getting barraged by calls, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a deal before the holiday. Check it out:...
