The camera speeds up and slows down; it pans right, then left, then right again. Later, the film describes a truncated arc, showing one small section of the flat. Then, the camera pans up and down. Living beings can be glimpsed along the way, most notably a cat perched in a window, artist Joyce Wieland, and a surprise visitor at the end. But they are given the same relative attention as the objects in the space: a TV, a stereo, a cooktop, a blender, and a hutch full of china. The 13th Tribeca Film Festival has announced its complete lineup for next month’s New York celebration, which runs April 16-27. The second round of Sim City-inspired documentary game Fort McMoney, exploring Canada’s exploitation of its Athabasca oil sands, kicks off today (Jan 27).
The game, revolving around a virtual version of the oil boom region of Fort McMurray in Alberta, attracted 309,000 unique visitors, for 350,000 site visits, in
the first round that unfolded from Nov 25 to Dec 22.The work is the latest creation from French journalist David Dufresne whose past co-credits include award-winning Prison Valley about a Colorado town which is home to 13 prisons.
Fort McMoney is one of the first interactive works combining documentary material with gaming technology.
Canadian multi-platform production house Toxa and the National Film Board of Canada (Nfb), a major force in interactive digital content, co-produced the work in association with French-German broadcaster Arte.

Christopher Lee To Receive 2013 BFI Fellowship Sir Christopher Lee will be this year’s recipient of the BFI Fellowship. The organization’s highest honor will be presented October 19during the awards ceremony for the BFI London Film Festival. The Fellowship is in recognition of outstanding contribution to film or television. Last year there was a double recipient in the form of Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter. Lee, who was knighted in 2009, has more than 250 acting credits — from his feature debut in 1948 with Corridor Of Mirrors to Hammer Films’ Dracula and The Lord Of The Rings‘ trilogy. The 91-year-old actor will receive a BFI Fellowship - the British Film Institute’s highest honour - at the awards on Oct 19.
