When female-led movies hit theaters, they're often overanalyzed, especially if they fail to score strong opening box-office numbers. But, with its upcoming premiere on Netflix, the Ibiza team, including stars Gillian Jacobs (Love), Phoebe Robinson (2 Dope Queens) and Saturday Night Live alum Vanessa Bayer, aren't concerned.

In F-rated Netflix comedy “Ibiza,” best friends Harper (Gillian Jacobs), Nikki (Vanessa Bayer) and Leah (Phoebe Robinson) have ditched Manhattan for a wild weekend in Spain where they’ll be welcomed with the 10 words every girl wants to hear: “Please serve yourself with food, drinks, and eye-opening sexual experiences.” That greeting is courtesy of wealthy mansion-owner Hernando (Jordi Mollà), one of a soccer-team’s worth of suitors vying to take the Americans to bed. Men come and go with a breezy freedom, not the manifest destiny of ordinary romantic comedies. Except for Harper’s laser-focus on a Scottish DJ named Leo who inspires her to re-route their vacation from Barcelona to eponymous party island, where she hopes to make stoned eyes at him across a nightclub as the Edm beat pumps like her heart.

"We had, like, a real connection." Netflix has debuted a trailer for a comedy titled Ibiza, originally known as I'm in Love with the DJ while filming. This unfortunately looks absolutely awful, as cheesy and cliche as it gets. The super-obvious, we've-seen-this-100-times story involves an overworked woman who takes a trip to Barcelona, but then decides to chase a "hot DJ" to Ibiza for one of the best adventures of her life. She's joined by two of her friends, and stupid stuff happens, of course. Because it always does in comedies like this. Gillian Jacobs stars, with Vanessa Bayer, Phoebe Robinson, and Richard Madden. Have fun. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Alex Richanbach's Ibiza, direct from YouTube: When Harper's two best friends tag along on her work trip to Barcelona, they ditch work and fly to Ibiza for Harper, who against her better judgement, falls for a hot DJ.

In 2014, DJ culture and electronic dance music were so inescapable that even Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez Productions wanted to capitalize on the phenomenon by producing a film called I’m In Love With The DJ. The script came from McKay’s former assistant, Lauryn Kahn, and it centered around a group of women who go on a trip to Spain for “a crazy hunt for a hot DJ,” but nothing ever came of it until now. According to Deadline, I’m In Love With The DJ now has a cast, a new title, and a new home at Netflix.
The film is now called Ibiza, and it’s set to star Gillian Jacobs, Vanessa Bayer, and Phoebe Robinson, with former Funny Or Die contributor Alex Richanbach directing. Other than the title, it doesn’t sound like much about this project has changed, though Deadline says ...
