Ted Lumpkin was born on December 30, 1919 in Los Angeles, California, USA. He was married to Georgia. He died on December 26, 2020 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Trained at the Tuskegee Army Air Field but due to his eyesight was not allowed to become a pilot. Instead he became an intelligence officer for the unit. He was a member of the 100th Fighter Squadron, part of the 332nd Fighter Group.
Retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Received an Associates Degree from Los Angeles City College. Followed that by studying at UCLA where in his senior year his was drafted by the United States Army.
After World War II he returned to Los Angeles where he worked as a social worker and real estate broker.
Served on the boards of Tuskegee Airmen Inc. and the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation.
