“I never get anything right! I got one!” a dumbfounded Ken Jeong exclaimed at the end of Wednesday’s second episode of “The Masked Singer” Season 9. Magic struck when the notoriously bad guesser correctly named Howie Mandel as the secret celebrity hiding inside the Rock Lobster costume. Ken was the only panelist who got it right; Jennifer McCarthy Wahlberg and Nicole Scherzinger both went with Martin Short, while Robin Thicke picked Steve-o.
Ken chose Howie because of two clues in particular: the judge’s gavel (referring to his recurring stint on “America’s Got Talent”) and the hospital scrubs (a reference to his role on “St. Elsewhere”). “This is someone who is a legendary comedian — someone who is one of my influences,” Ken stated emphatically after the red crustacean screeched out “S.O.S.” by Abba while running around the stage as if he was being boiled.

Amid a minor media war caused by the curious timing yesterday of the release of the first trailer for Netflix’s Harry & Meghan, Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales sought to soldier on today through their Stateside tour.
A principal purpose of the trip is to promote William’s Earthshot Prize, which will award about 1.2 million to each of five winners who will be announced at tonight’s gala. The five prize categories are nature conservation and protection, air quality, ocean revival, waste-free living and climate action.
In cerebration, Catherine took the theme of the event to heart, quite literally going green in an off-the-shoulder gown. In keeping with the theme of sustainability, her gown, by Solace London, was rented from Hurr, reported People. The U.K. platform facilitates the reuse of designer dresses. She accessorized with an emerald and diamond choker that belonged to Princess Diana.

Thousands gathered in the streets of London to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II at her funeral on Sept. 19. The Clinton Global Initiative, the signature event of the Clinton Foundation, is returning next week after a six-year absence.
The lineup for the Sept. 19-20 event again includes a mix of international leaders, politicians, corporate executives and celebrity philanthropists. Many participants make measurable commitments to action on problems such as climate change and world hunger.
Among those in the lineup are Matt Damon, Bono, Ashley Judd, Robin Wright and Lin-Manuel Miranda, along with Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, Laurene Powell Jobs, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Jose Andres and Queen Rania of Jordan.
CGI, as it is known, was ended after the 2016 event, as Hillary Clinton was running for president and foreign donations to the foundation came under scrutiny.
The theme of this year’s event is “The Business of How,” and will include the announcement of a set of new commitments.

Queen Rania of Jordan is a leader of women in the Arab world and beyond and is a champion of refugees, especially those fleeing neighboring Syria. Jordan has taken in more than 1.4 million people during the civil war.
As one of People’s 25 Women Changing the World celebrated in this week’s issue, Queen Rania writes about refugee swimmer Yusra Mardini, who helped pull a boatload of fellow refugees to safety, and then went on to compete in the Rio Olympics.
It wasn’t a typical qualifying swim for the Olympics. But 18-year old Yusra Mardini isn’t a typical teenager.

Jordan's Queen Rania struck back on Friday against a controversial new Charlie Hebdo cartoon that featured young Alan Kurdi, the 3-year-old Syrian refugee who drowned while fleeing to Turkey with his family. The cartoon, which depicted a man salaciously pursuing a woman, was captioned in French, roughly, "What would little Alan have grown up to be? A butt groper in Germany." The cartoon linked Kurdi's death, which magnified the human toll of the migrant crisis in Europe, with a recent series of sexual assaults in Germany, which officials have reportedly said were carried out by men with "a North African or Arabic" appearance.
